What happened to skin Moderation Lately???
RANTING Done.
Regardless of what the people with an axe to grind have said above, this IS a great site, quite possibly one the best there is, and so, constantly whining and bitching about it will only put it's future in jeapordy, which I am sure would suit the axe grinders, but we know who they are and we don't worry about them, believe me. It's the general population of the site that is important to us, and that is most of you reading this, so just get real, remember that WinCustomize is a FUN thing, and go and hone those skills. Thanks for listening, have a good day.
I'm just trying to be the voice of reason.
If you dont like it, tuff. And if you dont like the way we run things, get the hell out--I mean, you would think that a website with the magnitude and popularity such as WC would be more polite about how things are handled.
I wish there was a way to discuss this issue without the obvious negativity taking over. The fact is, we all use wallpapers. So it stands to reason we all like wallpapers. There's no argument on that point. Personally I love getting new wallpapers, I change mine pretty frequently. In fact, the volume of good wallpapers is one reason I don't make them any more, I don't need to.
The moderation issues are a no win for us. As Jafo and BoxXXi pointed out, we get melodrama from the members if we're too strict ("I'm leaving!") and we get melodrama from the members if we're too lenient ("All the good artists have left!"). You don't seem to realize how often we hear this and how frustrating it is to try to fix it.
Brad recently said we would stop moderating walls so the complaints would stop and people would stop leaving in a huff. The decision was to continue moderating (trust me, you need this) but to relax the standards slowly (so it wouldn't become another drama on the message board) and eventually just let most everything in and rely on ratings to filter it. Should make everyone happy eh?
apparently not.
Know this - we love you guys, we appreciate everyone's effort, we try REALLY HARD to be fair in moderating and we consider all of you, especially those of you who contribute to the site (wallpapers included) to be our friends and to be the most important people on the net.
What can we do? and I don't want to hear the "you don't care" or "nobody's input matters" or "you guys are elitist and only approve your friends" or any other version of unhelpful melodrama because there ain't any conspiracy, there's only a bunch of your fellow artists wondering why nothing seems to please you guys....

hmmm No Rules has an interesting idea I think. I'm not sure how something like that could be implemented but somewhere in that thought may be a way to improve the site. I need to think about this more and now is not a good time for me (my brain is shut down at the moment and I have to go out into the real world for awhile).
Creative ideas about how to manage wallpapers is good, gets us all thinking. Surely there's some way to make it better that no one has thought of yet. We would love to be the innovators that have the next great idea on our site. Discussion might lead to this.
A theft of Digital Blasphemy's "Campfires" Wallpaper just got through 'Moderation'

#46 by Scribe Frogboy - 7/21/2003 9:51:44 AM Let me be clear:If no one ever submitted a wallpaper here ever again we would be perfectly happy about it. So if you don't like how we handle wallpapers, simply don't submit them. If you upload a wallpaper it may make it, it may not make it. We're not going to agonize over each wallpaper. It's just wallpaper. There are a gazillion sites that have wallpapers. Are we clear: We don't care if you guys submit wallpapers. Feel free to never ever submit anothre wallpaper ever again. As far as I'm concerned, the wallpaper section is a waste of space and bandwidth. We have it here as a convenience of users.
