This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; AOL states that this is a very dangerous virus, much worse than "Melissa," and that there is NO Remedy for it at this time. This quote is a give-away that it is a hoax. 1) IMB and AOL have absolutely nothing to do with viruses (protection/notification) 2) AOL is mentioned whatsoev

If I think it sucks, then it gets a bad rating. If I think it's great, it gets a good rating. If I think it's ok, it gets a middle rating. I haven't been rating very much lately. I'm sick of the fact that there are so many pansies here that only want feel-good ratings and comments. Well, sometimes it does suck. There's no consistency. Just get rid of the ratings.
If I like them, I'll rate them. If not, I won't hurt. lol. Then WTF do we even have a rating system?
Styl...all it would take is one unethical admin/mod and the whole thing falls apart. I for one would support the idea of only subscribers/owners being able to post on the board.
Sorry Jafo, I keap forgotting that I hav the spel chek extention for Firebird. I promice to start useing it.
I'm courious. I'm a subscriber to OD (going on 5 years I think) but not WC. I've only contributed about three skins over the years. Is that what is considered a leach? ...Or paying for OD every year wash away my leaching sins?
I would stay away from the network setup wizard...at all costs. It's been a while since I've dealt with a workgroup, but if memory serves, when you belong to a domain and plug into a workgroup network with 9x systems, you can just use the shares in the workgroup without doing any authentication. Unless, of course, the workgroup share has a password on it. With 2000/XP systems in a worgroup, you need to have duplicate accounts (usernmae/password) on all machines. [Message Edited]
Is today opposite day or something?
#26 by Kona0197 - better to be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt! Yup...proved that over at DA. I.R. hits the nail on the head again.
must have 'beer goggles' on No, just smaller hands.
HOW???!!! > Ok, I'm dense... [edit]Nevermind...got it.[/edit] [Message Edited]
Unfortunately, there will always be hackers. Period. In a faint and warped sense of selfishness, I'm glad...because security and antivirus admin is a good chunk of my time at work and therefore job security. Hackers, for lack of a better term, are so prevalent because all it takes is a set of software tools freely downloadable, and thousands of server "admins" that have no clue how to harden their s
Digital_k is correct. I've tried several versions (via our volume licensing contract) and it's not ready for beta yet IMO. My experience so far is that while it is not as fast (optimized) as XP on the same hardware, it's not as bad as digital_k states. But then again, XP isn't as fast as 2000 on the same hardware either.
Verisign are crooks...period. I'd find another CA if it were my server.
From reading on tgtsoft's website, their staff all have college degrees. That leads me to think they aren't entirely idiots. Graduating from college has nothing to do with being smart. All it means is that person had enough dicipline to put up with at least four years of BS (crap).
what do you use for your monitoring? Coolmon. You can see an example in my desktop shot. http://coolmon.arsware.org/
Guys...leave it here. Don't go dragging this flame war all over the intarweb. I for one would like to see this thread deleted. I think everyone's said what they're going to say. Now this thread has become a witch hunt for ex-wc users. We're not lawyers. You never know how it might be used. [edit]/me should have hit refresh and read Jafo's post before hitting sumbmit.[/edit] [Message Edited]
Heh. You're going to have to figure out a way to charge by the icon package to beat the problem this lawsuite exposes. Please explain exactly what you mean by this...I'm being slow today.
If the figures on your Desktop are correct, that's the least amount of RAM I've ever seen XP use. Also, what yrag said is correct. I run 1Gb of PC4000 with no virtual memory...speedy .
Yeah, a bad programmer and a bad lawyer.
can you all imagine HOW MUCH money Microsoft would sue for? Would put all of TGT's employees in debt. Owners maybe...but not employees.
sig101...thanks for the link to the Firebird spellchecker. Works great.
I agree with BakerStreet 100%. If you still don't have any luck, try another video card if you have one. Most mobos these days with onboard video will detect if another video card is installed and use that one instead of the on-board. Also, being that PC-Chips mobos are an abomination to both God and man (my experience), do not mess with flashing the bios.
It crack's me up seeing people still using 9x and wonder why things go tits up, when 9x makes the baby jesus cry. Me too. With MS dropping support for the entire 9x kernel family 16 Jan, people are going to be out of luck. FWIW, we (at work) have been directed to remove all 9x machines from the network by 31 Dec. Thank goodness I have my division u
