The thing people don't realize is if you remove Long Range frigates from the game, people will spam light frigates, (ie Cobalts/Skirmishers/Disciples), and almost no one will want to play vasari lol. And unlike vs Long Range, carriers are actually 100% useless vs light frigates! They have a built in "own the carrier in the face" advantage, meaning medium armor + super speed. I think games were more interesting when Flak was more effective vs LR frigates! When your opponent massed flak you on
Astax
Yes its good in certain situations. Trick is learning when you need it! Repair is of course the most important, but few turrets can be helpful in certain situations as well.
I just had a match against an LRM spammer, i defeated him by spamming fighters and bombers from light carriers, while having a few heavy ships for him to concentrate firing upon... so, it can be donethough my economy was almost twice his!
That's sounds like he was pretty dumb there :) Problem is that Tec fighters suck pretty bad, advent fighters can counter long range pretty good. I wouldn't use Vasari, because you might as well get assailants at tier 1!
Eumaies it looks ok on paper, but it fails in practice because scouts suck vs too many other types of frigates and they cant scratch capital ships. Seeker dps is more than 3, because it is round down on display.
spiralblitz people making more illuminators than you have heavies is not a problem cause you lose fewer ships by far. Only problem is that the illuminators are still too good at killing caps compared to heavies. So in an even resource/supply fight, the illuminators will send your cap fleeing. I slaughtered a fleet of 60 illuminators with 20 heavies and 20 subverters. And by slaughter I mean I lost 1 or 2 ships :/ But getting subverters is pretty tough if he's breathing down your nec
Ok LornNarcosis. So tell me how will this not lead to cobalt spamming?
Don't target the capital first unless you can kill it in less than a minute.
Are you buying Crystal? It could be the price of the crystal resyncs after you bought it. The money moving up and down was always assumed by me to be resync having to do with market and lag maybe.
I think you can only target your frigates with replicate forces. But an Advent cap has Domination, which takes over your ship. Either way it was probably neither, as one only takes over 1 ship, the other replicates 3. And since you said " a bunch" you probably meant more. Maybe you ran into pirates durign the battle? They tend to look like TEC ships.
Im sure they will give us some victory and other cinematics for expansion.
Hmmmm, how about reducing the LRF's speed down to a point where it's the slowest ship in the game? This way, they can't chase any ship to destroy it, including capital ships
UMMM you do realize they are about the slowest frigates as is right? They are slower than most caps, and only slightly faster than colony caps I believe, but due to acceleration cant really chase em down.
Missile barrage fix will be great for TEC! But i suggest getting the armor upgrades ASAP or your Marza wont live to LVL 6 :O Also repair rate upgrade, and you can circle repair bays till you get Missile Barrage and wipe whole enemy fleet unless he runs. Think my new TEC strategy will involve gettign the AOE missile upgrade for LRMs ASAP! With it they should hold up fine vs other long range frigates.
Ahh the good old beta, where spamming scout frigates rules hehehe. Infinite resources are better, however refineries are useless now cause they cost too much to build :(
Hehehehe I too don't really understand. I started in BETA, and the tech tree back then was a lot more confusing than it is now believe me! Generally you can win without researching ANY tech, it is possible on most maps. Hell even possible on all maps if you get the right artifacts! But overall you want at least some basic techs like colonization techs (tier 2 in civil) and LRMs (Tier 2 military for TEC). And if you are fighting AI Kodiaks won't hurt.
Game play over realism? You haven't explained how "terrain" would make the game play better. I think it would make it suck.
A lot of players seem concerned with the portion on MP community that builds ships constantly! It is an affront to their pacifistic ways and needs to be stopped! The only way this can be solved is for every one ship one of these "spammers" makes, their opponent receives a better ship for free! If the spammer builds a cobalt, I get an lrm, if he builds a carrier, I get a flak! And if he builds a heavy cruiser, I get a capitalship! That will teach the spammers what this game is really about!<
A run-of-the-mill lrm spammer can't beat me if I have 24 minutes of game time. And I won't use LRMs or other long range frigates to kill him either. If he can hit me before 24 minutes, then he is so close I should have attacked him sooner with. Unless there are 2 enemies near by, which is a pretty bad case as far as Sins is concerned.
In reference to ships not retreating properly. While it is a problem, the player needs to compensate. Yes the ships tend to ram stuff, that's why good players will position their ships so they don't ram ships. I even seem people put their capships on hold position, facing the phase lane. The capship didn't fight, it just soaked up XP, and if it was attacked would run instantly. It is bad for to fight Illuminators with LRMs. Strategic failure in the making if you try it. Unless you
Welcome. Pirates are a pestilence, as is the AI which is pretty annoying, but mostly harmless :) Thou I do not encourage people playing vs the AI at2x or more speed since you will lose lol.
Hey, what if some planet defences actually took up Fleet Cap AND Tactical cap? Then there could be better planet defences; just a thought. . .
That would be pretty bad too. I find defenses fine as they are. Thou a slight reduction in cost would be OK by me, as they are situational. Obviously people feel they need stronger defenses vs AI, but that's only cause the AI is unwittingly programmed to be a pain in the ass.
Also would like to know this :)
You want [link="http://www.lighthouse-interactive.com/"]Lighthouse Interactive.[/link] They were the publishers of the game.
New class of ships is expansion stuff!
AI tends to build a lot of siege frigates. Because they had their price increased and their supply limit increased, this keeps the AI fleet small.
Hmmm I guess it's not too hard if you show up around primetime. You can join one of the so-called "FFA" games. Which are usually all about bad players trying to gang up on good players. It doesn't always work out for them, but those games offer you a wide range of experience levels.
