Does the app have a setting to always run as Administrator? If not try right clicking the app and select Properties. On the Compatibility tab, check "Run this program as an administrator."
Basj, who is the Stardock rep should be along shortly. He is going to want to know the full version numbers of Windows 11 and Start11you are running.
I didn't know the man personally, but I was still very familiar with his work. He was an exceptional digital artist. I have downloaded many of his walls and use them on my desktop regularly. He will be missed, but his art will live on!
I don't pin any apps to my taskbar and use only the Start Menu to open apps, folders, and files. I do have a mouse with programable buttons, and open the start menu with a mouse click. It's very fast. Another alternative to the Quick Launch toolbar would be to use Object Dock in the Autohide mode. So, no click, just pull the mouse to the bottom of the screen (or side, or top) and one click. You can pin apps, folders, and files to an Object Dock. With this method, any icon on the taskb
After making this change, you might have to restart Explorer for it to render properly. This is with Windows 10 style and Paint focused item backgrounds less transparent. Windows 11 doesn't support Quick Launch Toolbars, but you could try Start11 "Pin folder Menu" as an alternative. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/69/2
If you are using the Enhanced Taskbar try using these settings.
The license lasts for the life cycle of the product.
This is Windows 11. So it ALWAYS had this if anything.
Only if you are using a third party software or a registry hack to force the Windows 10 Taskbar.
There is a really nice article on Ashes of the Singularity II by Jez Corden on Windows Central. A great interview with Brad Wardell on the Future of Gaming. https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/stardock-ceo-discusses-ashes-of-the-singularity-ii-xbox-game-pass-ai-in-gaming-and-industry-turmoil <img src="https://cdn
I don't believe there is a setting for taskbar autohide animation. I don't see any animation or delay with autohide turned on, but I'm running 23H2. However you can turn off animation for the start11 menu. Start menu > Configuration > Visual Appearance
When you duplicate any file in Explorer, Windows automatically adds a (1), (2), etc. to the end of the file name. You could use this simple naming strategy for the shortcuts which you want to duplicate in your Fences.
WinUI is not the UI for everything in the OS. It is purely a layer some apps can use for app development if they wish.
Thanks Neil. Could you explain this in a little more detail. Perhaps an example.
A great article from Neowin by Taras Buria · Aug 2, 2025 03:44 EDT Is it possible Microsoft has given in on letting users customize the Windows 11 UI? https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-is-taking-steps-to-open-sourcing-windows-11-user-interface-framework/
Do the purge and reinstall as Basj suggested in Reply #7
Thanks for the suggestion. I created a blank rule, but still it automatically adds a new app to the current window
I think you misunderstood. Creating a new blank rule causes all windows to be grouped together.
Did you by any chance create a custom rule and leave it blank? See this thread. https://forums.stardock.com/531647/page/1/#3948374 Creating a new blank rule causes all windows to be grouped together.
When the Start menu button is hidden, the corner cannot be clicked. Is there no option to just hide the Start menu button but still have mouse interaction?
Saw this today, and it might be just what you're looking for in a Start button. A Blank Start Button. https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/start_menu_buttons/565/
I wasn't able to find a specific Change Log for ObjectDock 3, however, it was updated to be more compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Be aware that some features were deprecated for compatibility. Read thru this thread, and you should get a pretty good idea of what has changed. https://forums.stardock.com/526744/page/1/#replies
The Header Font controls the Group Titles; Tab Titles, in all the Styles except Windows 7 and Modern. Not seeing an issue here, but I'm running Windows 11 23H2. Check the Registry at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8" to see how the values are set. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/69/28/6928565/8
Okay, great. Does it also appear in the Windows Settings>Apps>Installed Apps list. If so, try to uninstall from there. If not, delete it from the Application folder you managed to open above. Try these and report back. [e digicons][/e]
Open the Run dialog and type shell:appsfolder It should open a folder that looks like this:
So, the Win-Key stopped responding when you installed Fences. This is unexpected behavior for Fences. I have never seen this reported before. Are you using a key-mapping software on this computer to alter any of the keys on your keyboard? Does the on-screen keyboard Win-Key work?
When you say System programs, are you referring to "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs," and when you say User programs, are you referring to "C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"?
