@Dave - Aye! Ok. So a couple things. 1) That list we found does not update with new groups until the dialog is closed and re-opened, so if you close and re-open the dialog, I'm wondering if anything appears. We've fixed this for our next beta release v5.81 coming out soon, in addition to adding additional messaging there instead of it just being blank. 2) If after closing and reopening there's still nothing, I'd want to take a look at your settings. You'll want to capture the

Hi David, what Fence groups do you have created on your desktop? For reference, Folder Portal groups will not appear in this list, which perhaps we should make more apparent. But yes in any event, thanks for sharing more?

Correct. As Sean shared, we are decreasing the prominence of backups as they are of much less use now with the new "Store my layout on a per-monitor-configuration basis" ability, released in Fences 5.5. Previously some users used Backups as a way to "correct" their layout as they moved between systems with different monitor setups, manually storing their layout before they switched, and restoring later when they changed their monitor setup. This was not a great solution and filled wit
PapaNinjago is use of backups part of your regular daily flow? We'd like to learn more about how you're using the product if so.
After downloading Fences 5.80, when scrolling through icons, they still move 1 1/2 lines rather than one line at a time. No other applications show this behavior.
Hi Blaine, Are these Folder Portal fences or regular icons on the desktop? Do fences with regular desktop icons scroll as expected? We may be seeing a problem with Folder Portal scrolling. Please confirm?
Right right. I guess the question I'm thinking about is, I'd love to learn about your motivation for that being your home page. Do you use the backups feature often? And what for? Any images you might be able to share about how you make it useful in your workflow? Appreciated for the insight as we continue to develop the product 🙏
Can you share more about what you mean about the backups being the start window for the Fences tool? Thank you
We'll be releasing a v5.81 beta next week, and it will have a new regkey option HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences\Settings UseSHChangeNotifyInterrupts = (DWORD) 0 There will be output to dbgview.exe "SHChangeNotifyRegister not using SHCNRF_InterruptLevel" to confirm the option. Excessive! It does and it doesn't. So, we probably shouldn't be needing to do that ForceFoundSlideshowResult lookup as much and can cache the result. However, these are just simple Windows registry (database) lookups which are highly cached and your system performs tens of thousands of these per second, so, the 20-50 shown here wouldn't make much a dent in anything. But I love where your head is at! Have added code to a subsequent release to increasing caching on that lookup, but, I d
Hi all – we have a fix available internally, but there is no timeline for a release. The issue is due to a path that is too long. ObjectDock currently only supports paths up to MAX_PATH which is 256 characters. They behavior can get a little imperfect (automatic image handling and naming won't work), but we've extended this limit now to 2000 characters. @pelaird, since there is no timeline for a release, you can get a copy of this patched copy at <a href="https://www.dropbox.c
If you reboot, does this resolve the problem?
Hi Kathryn, you cannot change the color of the titlebar *only*, but you can change the color of Fences themselves (body+titlebar). Using this option from More Options, you can set a specific RGB color. If you'd like to set the color of an individual Fence, you can pick it from the dropdown. I hope this helps clarify.
@Blaine, good catch – thank you! This has been fixed based on your tip, and will be part of the next update. (v5.60 and higher)
Hi all, this should be resolved in v5.59 which is now in beta 🙌
Oh sorry typoed! Thank you Roebie.
Hi Roebie, I think it's struggling with your multimon setup. Would love to debug. Could you send a copy of your the file fences_debug_info.txt in "%appdata%\Stardock\Fences\TroubleshootingLog" to support? No guarantee we can figure it out, but, would like to take a look. Thank you!
Hi chuckhe yes we'd really love to get a crash dump from your copy of 5.56. https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1332969475/Manually+Collecting+Fences+Crash+Dumps It looks like this is a crash that's not being picked up by our built-in crash reporter, so something else is going on. I assume you already did the step for enabling "Advanced crash reporting" and reproduced th
Hi all, yes, a solution has been made for precision trackpad in a very recent version (i.e. the last few weeks). I believe it's in the current public build v5.55. We did find a problem associated with this fix with the mouse wheel that inverted its direction, but a fix for this will be out soon, and precision trackpad should now work fine.
Hey Blaine, thank you so much for checking this out. We've been able to take a look and have been able to reproduce and fix! No timeline this second on when the next update will be coming out, but please be patient a couple of weeks to catch the fix in the upcoming cycle.
Hi Blaine, is it reversed in Folder Portals as well as the general desktop? Or only the desktop, and Folder Portal scrolling is still fine. Thank you
Hi, can you click “Show more details” on that dialog and post that screenshot? It should give helpful information
Hi mu4, The horizontal spacing – if you move them to two rows. Does this show the issue as well? Possible to show what that looks like? The spacing follows default Windows metrics – including inner-Fence spacing which for many years has followed Explorer's guidance on the spacing of sub-items (system-wide). But we are considering offering more options around that in the future.
