A couple pieces here to note: - Unless we're missing it, not seeing any debug log upload. - @rick_summon, recounting, the issue seen is that icons within fence groups get scrunched up sometimes when returning from sleep. Othertimes, it is normal. "Use same spacing" is off, but toggling it on and off seems to resolve. It's unsaid whether the issue happens for the loose desktop icons or only within Fence groups - @crash28, from your posts so far, it you do have "Use

Hi all – just to update status on this, we're going to be revisiting this here. Some context on what makes this a hard problem: - Explorer effectively lies about spacing. When querying, there are many scenarios in which it gives incorrect metrics, so, it needs to be inferred. Basically any change ever of DPI during a session, in particular, makes things whacky, even when returning to the base DPI. This can include simply monitors going to sleep, which under the covers often "c

Currently no to left & right, but it is something the team is evaluating for the future. If added, the titlebar would move to the opposite edge with a rotated title. We’re thinking the titlebar would mostly likely only be able to be positioned on left/right if docked to left/right edge. Not sure why you mean by scale exactly, so more or less auto-fit height? One issue with that is collisions with other groups, but perhaps “expand up to space availa

Hi scribbins, Ya know this isn’t something we considered, but you raise a good point! This feature is now “always on”, having now gotten years of battle testing and refinement. But the removal of the config leaves out important information that this is how it behaves. Correct starting with Fences 5.5, it intelligently remembers layouts per config basis. I’ve passed word to the development team so that they can figure out a way to get that information ba

Hi kabrewer42, could you paste in a screenshot of the issue, and your monitor’s DPI? Hoping to see this and verify if it is or isn’t matching the expected behavior. Thank you You can also accomplish this by going to About → Troubleshooting → Create error report package, and it will contain some extra info for us

Hi. Wondering if the shortcut it gets confused with is anywhere near the one that is launched. Ie in another tab, or direct above or below etc?

Hi, we received your log but are not seeing the issue. Is there a name of a specific icon that fell out a group during the change? If none happened during this capture, with Advanced Logging still on, reproduce and let us know what icon to look for in the logs. It should be pretty explicit that the icon has exited the group in the log, so we're hoping to see it! Let us know if this should already appear.

Hi Frayyack, would you mind flipping on advanced logging and sending us in a log? We’d like to take a look. (1) “Enable advanced logging” from Troubleshooting menu in About (2) Reboot to reproduce issue (3) “Fix” the issue with checkbox as stated (4) “Create error report” from that same menu. Hope to get you a build to test possible fixed along with the info. Thank you!

Hi, to add to the questions above, yes debug logs might also help. You’ll have to enable advanced logging and reproduce, but upon doing so and describing what happened, it should help. (1) “Enable advanced logging” from Troubleshooting menu in About (2) Reboot or log off/on (3) Reproduce (4) “Create error report package” from Troubleshooting menu, and describe one or more icons that moved in the space provided or bac

Hi Tibor, you’re able to access Fences’ settings, could you go to About, then from Troubleshooting menu, choose “Enable Advanced Logging”, reboot, recreate the issue, and then submit a report using “Create Error Package”? If the crash is one that is related to us, this will allow us to see what’s going on, and likely as well, will give hints even if it’s not us. Thank you

Thanks for posting. It sounds like dot net is failing to parse: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\config\machine.config So it might be worth looking into what types of general dot net errors come from such a thing. It does look like dot net itself is misconfigured based on what is shown there

Just to add in here. Fences does not use MSI. Another application generated this. Likewise, echoing that uninstalling, rebooting, and verifying files are not in C:\program files (x86)\Stardock\Fences will ensure it is not part of the issue. The app does not have program files in any location other than this location, and it does not embed in the system. Should these files be removed, the app is gone.

Hi Bryan, Icons generally appear unselected while the W11 RClick menu is open. That is – when you RClick, Windows itself has an issue where icons don't appear selected while the menu is open. If you hit escape after R clicking, do the icons go back to appearing selected? The "jumping" part we're able to reproduce, and will look into

Hi all, we may have a read on this one – can see in some logs where an inaccurate DPI might be coming in. Please stand by for a test build later this week

Hi all, we’re still working at wiring this up, but hope to have a build to test next week, thanks for your patience. A question as we continue to dig in. Short of toggling that option on/off, wondering what other types of activities “fix” the situation. I.e does just moving or resizing the Fence group resolve the issue? It sounds like perhaps moving it between monitors resolves it, but perhaps not just moving it before changing monitors? (Monitor might

Hi Johnny, just to update, haven't dropped this but we've been at work on a couple other minor issues that came up in the last large release, so we'll be circling back with that test build soon. Thank you!

Good to know. Thanks jcardii, rick. We're going to have a build soon that (1) takes a crack at resolving [unlikely to fix, but, a guess] (2) has some more debug info. Due to the intermittent nature of these, having to take guesses on where to even put this debug output, but am hoping this gives info. Again guessing this has to do with an issue we fixed within the last few months regarding monitoring HMONITOR handle handling, and downstream impacts.

This again does get into auto-layout territory which adds a great deal of complexities, so I don't see us being able to do this quite as stated. But will keep in mind some sort of general option for Tabs to store their contained Fence group heights independently as a global setting. 👍

Thanks for the report, we're looking into this one. Might have to do with an unrelated DPI-related fix within the last few months. @rick Does this only happen when "Use same spacing inside and outside of Fences groups" it set, and for icons within groups? From what you said it sounds like turning that off and back on again resolved, so some sort of intermittent thing going on there. Wondering if it impacts when that setting is left off, or, if its occurring for icons ou
