Wow what a sense of entitlement in this thread. Demigods released as a patch for free? We've gone from people wanting hoping that bugs will be fixed in a patch to expecting massive new content?
I've looked through your portfolio. There's some decent stuff in there – but nothing mind-blowing. Certainly nothing to justify your sense of righteous design indignation. I think you've let some good feedback go to your head.
https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=6297&libid=1 by vStyler Blows away Sony ericson.
It was hyped for a year and so I was expecting something a lot more. And you got the Wall-E and Disney theme So the CEO might be a douchebag, but we all are at some point in our lives. I still like the look of the hyperdesk themes Well... apart from the toolbars... eugh..
What do you mean? Do you have the Wall-E and Disney theme in hand? Are you not getting the reason people are frustrated? The presentation of the themes and the webs
How is that wrong? You are comparing one program thats been around for YEARS to another program thats been around for what... a week?
Because Hyperdesk and Object Desktop don't set out to do the same things.
Even if you where to compare the two, how much longer has MyColors been around?
About a year and a half I think. It has tons of themes already. I read the CEO of Skins Factory refer to MyColors themes as 'mediocre' and then they re
The interface in Hyperdesk is in fact very well done and easy to use, and while I do agree that the Sony Ericsson and possibly other themes are lacking in design/quality in some areas, the product itself holds merit. I applaud any company that attempts to enter the skinning world with a new product, and many have done so over the years and died out since, but lets give credit where credit is due. Windowblinds is an excellent product, Hyperdesk I am sure will be too. I
And seriously now.....who the hell doesn't "Hype" they're stuff around here? And I don't mean just WC or Stardock. Everyone always thinks/claims they have the next best thing.
Please show me an instance of someone hyping their unrelease skins for a year before release? The more you hype, the better you have to deliver.
It's also been around A LOT longer, if HyperDesk was around for the amount of time lets say ThemeManager was then they'd have thousands to choose from as well.
Wrong. The two are very different. Hyperdesk is about buying themes from the Skins Factory. Object Desktop is about enabling users to apply stuff made by anyone. Even if it were an apt comparison, it would still not matter. One has 1000s of free themes and the other has 1. A better comparison woul
Wow, I'm shock at how stardock guys implicitly refuse competition. I want to say some things, 1. System Icon Missing ? Who cares ? How many ? Most people do usual and common activities. What matters is overall impression with combination from skin, icon, widget, etc. 2. How much do you guys pay for WB, Icon Packager, and the remaining transforamtion application ? And not to mention the additional price for the additonal content. From what I've seen, Stardock application so cal
Wow, I'm shock at how stardock guys implicitly refuse competition.
Oh now we're 'stardock guys'. Love hyperdesk or you're a stardock guy. and I suppose the people who criticize WindowBlinds themes are all hyperdesk guys now? Hyperdesks problem is that it is the phantom menace of skinning. It was hyped but endlessly in screenshot teasers for months and months and when it shows up you end up with a really fancy pretty website that when you download the one free
I don't hate it at all.. It's just not all its hyped up to be imo and the presentation of it is somewhat deceiving. Not showing the badly designed and missing parts of the theme to me.. is wrong. Then when pointed out publicly, the owner blocks comments and blocks futher access to post in the thread?
My thoughts exactly. If HYPErdesk hadn't been hyped up for the last year maybe my expectations wouldn't have been so high. The icons they show are nice but how many are there
Can Impulse unseat the reigning digital distribution champ Steam? My first impression is... no. I think that Stardock missed the target as to why Steam is so great - the community features
How can you call Steam the champ of digital distribution when it only distributes games? Yes. You gamers can get all wet about Steam. Voice chat and can support are great if you're a die hard gamer. But what about the other 99% of the world that could give a crap abou

Would you be willing to pay an extra $20 for the priviledge of using Steam? That's what you're asking Stardock to do. Impulse is far better than Steam and costs them nothing to put their titles on. Steam would mean that 20 bucks of your purchase is going to Valve. How is this a good thing for Stardock?
And it seems STEAM is now the PC gaming standard. I'm very happy with STEAM, it works great!!.... why not talking to VALVe and work together instead of split Community?
Gaming standard for what? For Valve games? Valve says they've only got 15 million accounts - less than a moderately popular website gets in traffic each month. Maybe Target and Best Buy should just work with Walmart instead of splitting the community.

Let's see... Galactic Civilizations II: $39.95 Sins of a Solar Empire: $39.95 Out of the box, no copy protection, user can sell them. vs. Typical console game: $60 Out ofthe box, user can sell them. So your beef boils down to what? That you can't also sell the service of free updates Stardock provides? How many free updates to console games get? How much more do console games cost out of the box than Stardock's? Yea, I see greed

I LOVE YOU STARDOCK AND IRONCLAD! As good as the initial release is, I hope people really notice just how good 1.04 is. Besides the improvements in balance, the computer AI is really quite challenging and intelligent! What other games have this kind of support?! THANK YOU!

It's amazing how melodrama can be substituted for a coherent argument. The market change is pretty minor in real play and some will like it and some won't. But it's a major change.
