When Demigod is working it's the best damn RTS type game I've ever played. It's amazingly fun. Having played Dawn of War 2, going and playing a good game of Demigod multiplayer is an absolute blast! BUT... The actual online experience is absolute garbage right now. WHEN I can get into a game, which is hit or miss, the odds of me being able to actually complete a game is maybe 1 in 10 because somebody gets bumped off. I just don't buy that people are losing internet connections

The disconnect problem is pretty bad. I think that's a nature of the Internet. But Demigod doesn't handle disconnects as graceful as it should. I haven't had any problems connecting to people. I've had trouble keeping them in game though. :(

I think we can all endlessly argue for some Demigod to be nerfed or empowered or some item to be tweaked on forever but having played last night long into the night with beta 3B with friends I've met in these Demigod betas, I think it's safe to say that Demigod is looking awesome. I don't know how to compare it with Sins of a Solar Empire which I also like but it is definitely up there or past Sins in terms of raw fun, especially online. Congratulations Stardock and GPG on cre

For me, Demigod started to get fun with beta 2D. When Beta 3 was released I found it very awesome. If there's a better RTS this year, I haven't seen it. Demigod is going to be the strategy game to beat.

Caydr's funny comment about Stardock's publishing caught my eye:
They've more recently expanded into a publisher/distributor role, but thus far not a very successful one.
I mean, how much more successful can a new publisher get than having the first title it published win tons of game of the year awards and sell over a half million copies? The second title they're publishing, Demigod, is one I'm in the beta for and based on the latest beta I've pla

The double standard is when Steam users bitch that they have to use Impulse to update their Stardock game while giving Valve a pass on forcing them to use Steam. I don't have a problem with Steam. I have a problem with the lunatics who scream that Steam is like Highlander where there can and should only be one. Steam got to where it is today because Valve shoved it down the CS community pure and simple and made it load itself on start up (where it conveniently forgets that set
Architecture refers to both the DRM (which is the decrypting of installed files, done once, upon first launch) and the fact that steam is the online play backend. Steam is effectively the Gamespy/Battle.net/Quazal of those games - you can't not install it, it's simply a functional part of the game.
LOL. I love that. A "functional part of the game". How exactly is Steam a functional part of Half-Life 2? I have never played that game online. I
Let's correct that a bit with facts: A user can buy Sins of a Solar Empire at the store and never mess with Impulse if they don't want. Yes that's correct. That same user will also not get any vital patches. Impulse integrated games force impulse on the user just as Steam integrated ones do for steam. The only difference is that the forced Impulse is (so far) arbitrary, while the Steam depedancy is a result of the game using steams architecture. Left4Dead (and other Valve Sourc

I find it rather interesting that Steam fanboys complain that Sins of a Solar Empire and Demigod and GalCiv and other Stardock games aren't on Steam but don't complain that Valve forces people to get its games off of Steam. A user can buy Sins of a Solar Empire at the store and never mess with Impulse if they don't want. A user who buys Left4Dead at the store is forced to become a Steam user.
Personally i much rather just have Steam than Steam AND Impulse. Both do the same thing in a great way. Stardock could make just as much money off of steam and support their games even better than trying to support their games and impulse.
Game. Set. Match.
I think that in order to compete with Steam, Valve is going to have to massively screw up, or Stardock is going to have to buy or merge with of the other Steam competitors (Gamersgate is the most likely and sensible acquisition here) That said, I'm not worried about Impulse going away- at a bare minimum, it will be profitable for Stardock to do with Stardock Games and Desktop apps, therefore it should remain profitable- which is the minimal goal.
I agree. Stardock as seen through the eyes of a Valve fan boy:
I like Impulse, and I like Steam, they're both good. But here's the thing: Impulse is backed by a company that designs skinning software (which is rapidly becoming obsolete) and has two (relatively minor, however excellent) game franchises to its name: One a TBS, which is just slightly ahead of text adventures in terms of popularity, and one an RTS, which if current trends continue will always be second (at bes

Let's see: Impulse loads a lot faster than Steam. Impulse is a lot less obnoxious to use than Steam. It's a lot snappier and slicker than Steam. Why doesn't Valve sell their games on Impulse? Same reason Stardock doesn't sell their games on Steam.

Dear Ironclad, Thank you for making Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1. Let me count the ways. #1 Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1 is the first time I've been able to host and play on line reliabily without spending time with my router. Great job there. This now makes Sins the only PC game that I can play multiplayer on. Maybe I have a goofy rouer set up. I don't know. But now I have ONE game I can play online. #2 The graphics are sweet and the speed it better.
shouldnt stardock pay for that flashdrive? i mean, it shouldnt be the problem of people without internet.. it should be stardocks's... they make some 50% o.k. distribution... thing...
I sure how no one from Stardock or Ironclad see that comment. Never have I seen such an extreme case of entitlement attitude written so succinctly.

Let me preface by saying I like the idea behind Demigod. Let me also say that I understand that this is a engine test beta where Stardock has gone out of its way to say that it's not supposed to be fun. With those 2 things in mind here is my report. - It's october. The game is supposed to come out in february. That gives you 2 or 3 months to finish. No way. - Replyability is very low. How are you going to fix this? Waterfall is fun for a few times but you play it a few t

I understand where you're coming from but this isn't a try before you buy or shareware or a demo. It's a beta program that you signed up for, knew what you were signing up for and Stardock delivered on their part. I would think they would want to discourage people from joining the beta who aren't absolutely commited to the game.
I think I was misunderstood. From the first time I've seen the trailer, I've become a valiant defender and " marketing agent " for this game. I would talk about it non-stop with every gamer-type friend I would meet. I love the idea. I love the concept behind the game. For me to leave behind any dota beta discussions and to start reading almost every post on this forum and basically drooling when thinking of this awesome great and perfect game, m
