Maybe he wanted us to watch Sex and the City 2 because of the Vivienne Tam netbook with a custom theme from Stardock that makes an appearance... http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/windowsexperience/archive/2010/05/24/hands-on-with-sex-and-the-city-2-s-co-star-the-hp-mini-201-vivienne-tam.aspx

I apologize for the inconvenience, but we've cleared things up. If you'd like you can try again, and it should work for you.
There's no real telling when something like that will go on sale again, but I'm sure this past weekend wasn't your last chance.
It's actually common practice for newer games not to delete settings like that when the game is uninstalled, just in case you want to reinstall at a later time. That way everything is still how you like it, with all of your saved games, etc. Glad you're back up and running, though! [e digicons][/e]
The save game files are in the following folder (you may need to show hidden folders first): XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Vista/7: C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Try deleting any save games that are in that folder and see if maybe something was corrupt.
Try navigating to the following folder: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting Vista/7: C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting Try moving the 'user.settings' and 'diplomacy.user.settings' files to a different location, run the game again, and see if the issues persist.
Do you remember what the error was, exactly? In Impulse, click the blue question mark button (upper right), and select 'View error log'. Take a look through the most recent entries, and copy/paste anything that looks like an error and we'll take a look at it. My first inclination is to try adding an exception for Impulse to any security software you might have, or even temporarily disable it to see if that helps.
Close Impulse, then follow this link in Internet Explorer: http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/stardock_access.bat Save the file, and run it. This may solve your issue.
Impulse is the only way to update Sins. It sounds like you're having some Internet connectivity problems. If you have any security software running, try adding exceptions for Impulse, or temporarily disabling it and see if that helps. All else fails, use the bat signal: support@stardock.com
The way our MD5 system works (and this is an over simplication, I'll grant you, but it works for our purposes), is similar to taking a sentence, assigning number values to each letter (a=1, b=2, etc), and adding up the corresponding numbers to get a sum. That's your "MD5" (though the real MD5 creates a much more unique signature than that). Then tell someone that sentence, and have them write it down. If they misspell something, then when they add up the digits from th
Dragon Age is one of our larger games, but that's way out of the normal range. If it ends up not working for you (and even if it does, if you'd like), give us a shout at support@stardock.com and we'll try to figure out what's going on.
sumwar: It's registered to your account, so there's no problem on that side, and you shouldn't need your serial number to install the game. Try closing Impulse and running the following file: http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg Make sure to follow the link in Internet Explorer, as other web browsers will not handle the file type correctly. Once you follow the link, s
That's the current version, so I'm not sure what's up. You can try verifying the installation and see if that helps, but it may require a reinstall.
I cleared up the OD problem, so restarting Impulse should fix that. If it doesn't, try closing Impulse and running the following file: http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg Make sure to follow the link in Internet Explorer, as other web browsers will not handle the file type correctly. Once you follow the link, save the file and double click it to apply it. Then
I'm guessing you're talking about Sins, right? To clear out your mesh files, you'll need to go into the application folder (right click in Impulse, select 'Open application folder'), and there are three different 'Mesh' folders. The first is in the root folder, and there may be two more, depending on which version of the game you have, in the \Entrenchment and \Diplomacy folders. Delete everything in those folders, then right click on the game(s) in Impulse, and select 'Verify Install
At this point, I'd use the bat signal: support@stardock.com
If you're new to the game, there may be an advantage to going Sins, then Entrenchment, then Diplomacy. There's a lot of content, and starting off with Diplomacy may be a lot to dive into. Certainly not impossible, but I tried it, and had a much easier time starting off with just the base game.
If not, feel free to use the bat signal: support@stardock.com
My money is on graphics card, though it depends on what those 'glitches' you mentioned actually are. Depending on the problem, you might be able to snag a screenshot of what they look like, which might help. I've had multiple cards go bad in my day, and the hotter they got, the worse they got, so a 5 minute timer on failing seems about right for that kind of problem. Do you have a spare video card you can try?
Try the following within Impulse: -Click the blue menu button in the upper left -Choose 'Preferences...' -Click the 'Reset Data' button -Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.
Rekab1: I'm not sure what Startgate is... Do you mean Stardock? (There may be an auto-translate problem there...) You should be able to install the game from the DVD itself. If it doesn't work, it's possible you got a bad burn, and some retailers will allow you to swap those out for a working disc (though not all).
¡Feliz Cumpleaños!
ALright thanks, again I appreciate the responses. One more question and its a fairly obvious one on my behalf: When is beta 2 forecasted to start?
Soon... [e digicons]:-"[/e] No hard date that I've seen, but it's getting very close, I swear!
Also, if you use Impulse, there are two ways you can access your serial numbers from within the program. Be sure that you are logged into Impulse using the email address you used to place your order. 1) Under the My Games or My Software tab, right-click on the title for which you need your serial number and select "View Registration". 2) Click on the blue question mark in the top-right corner of Impulse and select "Register a product with Impulse..."
