Yes, automatic grouping works fine if I check that box. Good to know I can use that as a work-around for now, but I prefer to only see tabs if there are multiple windows.

This beta does not fix problems I've been having since 1.44 with new windows not automatically grouping. The only program I have set to do this is Notepad2. When I open a second instance, it opens on top of the first, and the title bar of the first instance goes blank, but the windows do not group. Grouping them manually works fine. Groupy stopped automatically grouping instances of Notepad2 with this update. 1.45 beta does not resolve this.
Easy enough - I'll try when I get home. Thanks for the quick response!
Windows 8 Enterprise (9200.win8_gdr.130410-1505) WindowBlinds 8.0 (017 - Windows 8 Edition) - 64 bit OS I was having a problem with WB8 killing all my apps and forcing Windows to log off every time I applied or updated a blind. Support told me to run a batch file to purge WB8, then to reinstall. After the reinstall, not all of my apps are getting skinned - some remain classic Windows 8. These include Firefox, MS Office, the WB8 control center, and several others.
I was having trouble with PS6 last night running WB8 on Windows 8 Enterprise X64. I saw no image in the main window, and radio buttons were unclickable. Telling WB to ignore PS didn't help. Fixed it by turning off hardware acceleration in PS.
So... What's going on with that then [e digicons]
I did. It didn't change the other window shadows though. ~edit - Yeah resetting the start menu transparency fixed the shadow. But now my start menu has transparency :(
Is it normal for WB8 to kill all apps and force logoff every time a new blind is applied?
Running Start8 1.16 with WindowBlinds 8.0 (017 - Windows 8 Edition) and 7zone.wba The shadow of the start menu is not rendering properly - the transparency is screwy and it's showing up far too dark.
WOW. This just made my day. Not only did I get a discount on the new version, but it installed perfectly on the first try, and it works great! But the best part is that my favorite Windows 7 theme works flawlessly. Thank you Stardock, you never cease to amaze!
OK so it happened just now. I checked task manager, the process using the most GDI Objects and User Objects was AirVideoServer, which I use to stream video to my iPad. This was followed by explorer.exe. Neither was using more than 1000 combined objects. I looked it up in GDIView but I'm not quite sure what info you need from there. The column with the most objects is labeled DC. If this isn't helpful let me know and I'll do what I can to help :) ~~ E
I'm having problems with the new 7.31 (build 317 x64) on Windows 7. Things work OK for a while after a fresh system start, then everything just goes crazy. Firefox and Opera are especially susceptible to problems, with Windowblinds drawing the title bars and caption buttons all funky when maximized, and not at all when in windowed mode. WB also stops removing window boarders when some apps are made full-screen. Eventually the problems migrate to the taskbar and other areas. <
Here's a temp fix that works great. 1. Reboot into Safe Mode so that you can edit WindowBlinds' files. 2. Backup 'wblind.dll' or 'wblind64.dll' for 64-bit Windows. (By default, the files are in 'C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds') 3. Depending on your Windows, open either 'wblind.dll' or 'wblind64.dll' in a hex editor and look for 'DOPU
i got it working. i was changing the values in the wrong section. still have a lot to learn :)
I'm trying to edit a WB skin I downloaded. Right now, the text on all caption bars is centered. I would like it to be left justified. I was able to fix regular windows, but I can't fix maximized windows. Changing the "Horizontal alignment" value to "Align left" doesn't do anything (it's actually set to "OS Default" right now and it shows up centered) Any ideas? Thanks!
Good news Neil, thanks for letting us know. I PM'd TomRichter about the skin. I also tried changing the OS Caption Height to 15, but it didn't change anything...
Ah, but things DO work properly with the patch installed, remember? Which leads me to believe that it was something else on my system causing the conflict. I wish I hadn't mentioned my theme files, I'll bet we would have found the real problem by now! I absolutely refuse to believe I'm the only WB user who also enjoys other methods of skinning... (And I still don't see how checking for bad sectors on my storage drives is going to help solve a software issue on
Why are you so bent on blaming this on my theme patch when there is NO EVIDENCE that it is the source of this problem? Everybody here is just jumping to conclusions, it's completely absurd. I'm sorry, but until a Stardock dev jumps in and says "yes, the Impulse installer/updater in fact checks your theme files, and it will refuse to operate properly if it finds that they have been tampered with", then nothing you say really has any merit.
Am I doing it right? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=stardock+impluse+problem Ok, all kidding aside (and please forgive my ineptitude), but how exactly will researching how other users improperly patch their theme files provide evidence that my patched theme files were causing Impulse to refuse to update? My theme files are patched, and both Impulse and WindowBlinds are running smoothly (after reinstalling Windows 7). What will it take for me to convinc
This isn't about the legitimacy of the patch, or how well it works or doesn't work for individual users. I've been running it since XP and never had any problems with it. And it's not about "subverting" Stardock or its products. I have great respect for what you lot have done. I love WindowBlinds, and wish the talented creators of MS Visual Styles would migrate to WB, where their skills could be put to much better use. No, this issue is about whe
Howdy BarJabba! Thanks for your suggestions and for your sympathy :) The patch in question modifies some Windows files to allow users to install visual styles that have not been digitally signed by Microsoft. Despite all the loud voices in this thread suggesting otherwise, it's really quite innocuous. In fact, I have yet to see any evidence suggesting that my patched theme files are the source of the problem I'm having with Impulse, and I have already demonstrate
thanks for testing things out, leo. DrJBHL, the "version" at WinCustomize creates the same problems. too bad the author hasn't been around for a while, i guess my favorite skin is dead in the water :(
thanks for that experiment, leo! it sure makes Opus play a lot nicer with WB. it's great to see menus, toolbars, and buttons skinned as they should be! unfortunately it didn't fix the issue with the top toolbar that i have with some skins. this is one that gives me trouble, maybe you can install it and see if you can reproduce the problem. it would be great to finally get these guys off my back about the whole uxtheme issue... http://tomrichter.deviantart.com/art/7zone
After a fresh install of Windows I installed Impulse and WindowBlinds with my theme files hacked. The end.
