Yeah, sometimes monitor numbers change. I unfortunately noticed that in games which were set to a specific monitor "number" but next time starting the game it would start on the work monitor instead of the configured gaming monitor ... it is a hassle and I think windows is not behaving very good here (it should maybe remember connected displays and give them a static number or guid unless reset - like it is done for network adapters). One thing I noticed in Fences since

Well, for security you could just assign specific ACLs to the installation folder. But anyway, that means I have to move all Object Desktop programs to that location (I like to have my stuff sorted, just a little OCD) meaning it's just a small nuisance (for me personally). Although it is rather common to install 3rd party programs somewhere else than C drive in a lot of companies from what I know. So just wondering if a restriction like that is really necessary.

Why can't I change the installation folder anymore, is there a parameter to set on the setup? Neither installation via Object Desktop nor manual install lets me change the default of C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\DeskScapes anymore. P.S.: Download speed from the site is abysmally slow at the moment (around 300-500kb/s)

Nevermind ... it seems it is already solved. It was either that the windows installation was not yet activated, that I used cached credentials and domain controller was not available (if Multiplicity encryption somehow depends on NTLM/Kerberos auth?) OR that I configured multiplicity on the secondary using windows remote desktop. Anyway, now it seems to work.

Hi, I recently got my company notebook and wanted to setup Multiplicity there (and hopefully get audio transfer to work, so I don't need a second headset etc. as I already have one on the desktop). But I cannot get a connection working because for some reason on the secondary (Windows 10 Enterprise, Build 20H2) the encryption key and passcode is always shown as some garbled characters, even when I enter TEST1234 for any of them, when changing again or clicking o
It is worth noting that some companies charge for extended download periods especially if they sell via the DigitalRiver online store system. Usually unless you pay for the extended downloads service you are limited to downloading within the first 30 days only.
Yeah, I wanted to bring that up too. Had this a few years back when PowerDVD was the way to go for video players and was rather surprised that I could

Just noticed there was a new update for the Object Desktop manager (4.02) with build date from yesterday. Is there a changelog available for StarDock Object Desktop modules? (I just found a few entries under products/xyz/history via google but not for everything) Just out of curiosity to see for example what changed or if there were some interesting bugfixes. (same for all the modules used with it)
My 2 cents... I think that giving all users access to all the shortcuts in Fences at an earlier stage in the boot process, would result in a myriad of errors/crashes because Windows has not yet loaded all services those programs may be dependant on to function properly or at all. Have you all considered that?
Could be, although in practice I never saw a problem by starting a program immediately after desktop is available. In

This explains a lot. I tried the setting, unfortunately this does not really "help" - it just shows the actual loading time of all startup programs. The problem with that is that you can't actually use the desktop earlier than otherwise. It would actually be cool to keep the current default windows behavior BUT startup fences earlier (like an exception to this behavior, but keep other startup programs as is). Not sure if that would be (easily) possible and probably more like an e

We don't do it all the time, but if you do it is annoying because you can't immediately start working with your desktop. Without Fences that doesn't happen and in times of NVMe SSDs where everything is basically started immediately this is a noticeable delay and inconvenience. Yes, it is not a blocking issue, but it is an inconvenience that makes me (or us) stop using the product. The added animations in fences giving it the rest for me. I am currently trying to justify workin

GeForce Overlay is off for me anyway and in driver options I don't have a selection for other GPUs as I only have one installed. Ryzen 3900X + 2080Ti and a fresh install (no object desktop software / old versions before) so I don't think raw machine performance is the issue.

Would be interesting whether this is actually the problem (although from a programming perspective, why should it only use iGPU and not for example just "GPU0"?). I would have to install a trial version on my wife's computer to test if it's faster on her computer (Skylake) vs mine (Ryzen3) ...

Option to remove animation (see https://forums.stardock.com/500019/page/1/#3778939 ) to make working on desktop a bit snappier (feels very laggy and slow at the moment). Maybe there is also a problem because of missing iGPU in processor (comment above?) or a high res (4K) display is used. For me it looks more like a usability "bug" (while maybe technically not a bug, but usability could be enhanced that way by a lot).

When enabling fences there is a noticable lag or increased animation time when dragging around icons/shortcuts etc. This worsens a lot when I have a lot of data (e.g. folders with normal file content) on the desktop (I guess the whole desktop is an "invisible" fence?). But even with only a few icons on the desktop it increases substantial lag, I made a short GIF of it: https://gph.is/g/aj1b3NB Hopefully it is somewhat visible, dragging ic

Having the same issue, after login to windows it takes several seconds until the desktop appears. Looks like as if the explorer.exe takes very long to load because of Fences. Windows 10 Pro version 1909 (18363.836) btw.
