It will definitely be a classic.

There are posts here about this not being a 4X game because of lack of research and victory options, and I thought I was lost on what 4X is. I went to my favorite source (wikipedia) and found: 4X refers to a genre of strategy video game with four primary goals: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate I wanted to paste the next paragraph explaining each but its long and i didn't want to get into trouble. It doesn't say anything about how many research o
I love BSG
RE: Enhancing MP experience IMO in addition to the smaller map that was mentioned by OP, the limiting factors in this game are credit+resource rate and movement. If you increase those things, it should go faster.
Playing small maps and saying "Well this game has no depth, I know exactly where the enemy is when I'm playing on a set map with 10 planets!" is borderline retarded, and most definitely dishonest. You could say that it's hard to play it like the 4x that it is in multi-player, on account of a random huge 10 player game being... long? If you're not playing a 4x game, it's by choice. If you choose to play a random huge with 10 players, you will be scouting just to keep track of who's where,
Nice post redmaw
Like Sykonaut said, if your playing the AI and you don't like to micro, the fleet will fight for themselves.
Yes i see what your saying, but i think new players would catch on real quick. I'm just trying to think of ways to encourage empire building more and rushes less.
Try plaing on low fleet setting.
I got this idea when I read Frogboys post about Explore. Expand. Exploit. Exterminate. I think games need to start with a certain amount of defenses in place to allow players time to actually build up an empire before the first rush. Maybe allow the home planet to fill up its tactical slots for free when the game begins.
Thank you frogboy for a wonderful post. I think alot of people complain that it doesn't have the qualities of a 4x game because everyone is thrown into one star system and expected to build an empire. Its just not going to happen. If you play a big enough map then yes you get all those elements (but it will also take longer to play).
I remember seeing a post long ago from the devs that said you cannot make your own ships because in a real-time environment its not practical.
The Vasari rule planets from orbit.
I'm just throwing this out there...what if Capital Ships were the only unit that could not be focus fired on, other than by other Capital Ships.
I had to stop using the fleet option. I could not stand ships just joing fleets without my intervention. I would have my fleet ready to jump away from my planet, but i would be building more units to defend that world, and as they are built they join the fleet and start jumping away. It is just too much mirco work. They should make it tied to the CTRL+number system or something. And if you try to have fleets cross with ships that are not in a fleet, good luck, they will probably get
IF you were being attacked by an army of demonically possessed snowmen would u take a flamethrower as your weapon or a freeze ray? Cmon!
I would want a weapon that would be good against the snowmen, and any other weapons they throw at me, cold or hot. There is already a thread about changing LRMs so they use more fleet supply to try to take care of the spamming.
Seems good now !
When I think of Capital Ship I think BSG
Which AI setting are you guys playing with. I choose random so I don't know. Maybe there should be a militaristic AI setting that will just allow the AI to continually produce military units. The AI needs to make more frigate factories on its planets. When being attacked, its is really helpful to be able to produce 3 or 4 ships at a time. I usually have at least 2 factories on my key planets.
as a result of the 1.03 changes
Ya, apparently someone doesn't like the changes
I have been playing with the new low fleet supply option, which is a little better by making capital ships more a part of your fleet rather than the way it usually feels, like they are just tagging along with your frigates. The only downside though is with fewer fleet points, its not really a good idea to build more than one. As noted in another thread, it is not a good idea to build more than one or two. I think they should not cost so many fleet points.
Finally good to read a suggestion thread that doesn't result in name calling and rudeness.
I use a hotkey to transfer between screens and mine still did it.
However, I strongly disagree that a hard counter is the most effective way to get rid of LRM spam. It would just make the game another "ok, he has x lrm's, ill just spam y flaks to get rid of them
I totally agree with this. If there were hard counters, it means the units that do not counter the spam would be usless. I will have to spam the counter unit. That is not cutting down on spamming.
i have the same problem with multiplicity. i got lucky last time, i did not pause the game, and i waited for it to autosave and then just reloaded that.
