Stardock made the right decision when deciding to cater to the casual player instead of the protournament goon. This is the philosophy that worked in GalCiv2,it'll work here two.
I totally agree with you TarlSS Making the game for the 99% of us casual players just makes sense.

I like the idea of a ceasefire at the start. i also like the idea to start with planitary defenses at your homeworld. I think both these ideas would help all players actually get into the game a little rather than trying to have 35 min rush matches. I'm sorry if i'm repeating anyone, i cannot read posts by people that look as long as a book.

Another reason why scouting in the beginning is better is because there is no defenses in place. The scounts will be able to scout more. also
I hope you're not doing this on small maps - greedy colonizing cripples your econ and you will lose against any halfway competent opponent(s).
as said before, colony rushing hurts your economy. Don't forget about the need to capture resources in non-colonizable gravity wells. Those put out alot of resources, and you w
It seems to me that using heavy cruisers supported by flak frigates and support cruisers isn't really spamming any more. It's creating a balanced fleet in which the different elements cover each other's weaknesses. This just seems like good strategy.
Very true. And sometimes the better fleet will just be the bigger HC/flak/support one.
Also, remember to micro your bombers and focus fire the support ships, followed by the kodiaks. If the enemy is smart, they will have lots of flak frigates... in this case, just pray your bombers can overwhelm them.
I have had so many bad experiences with using a mostly carrier fleet. Your right if he has flaks also you will most likely have a very nice carrier fleet but with no bombers.

Those are minor races, they are not the main enemy. If they were not there, you or your enemies could just spam colony ships and it just would be one big colony rush. The minor races and rogue ships prevent that.
I personally HATE the idea of phase lanes. Its SPACE for crying out loud. The WHOLE game would be better if Space was OPEN ENDED with no phase lanes AKA NO choke points but better planetary defense.
You think its cat and mouse now....It was way worse with no phase lanes.
