I really could use a timer. I find out sometimes by looking at the graphs that i fell behind in certain areas, such as ship building. If i had a timer I will know that by X time my fleet size is usually this big.
90% of the screenshots depict battles, one would then not expect a big part of the game to be about other stuff.
I'm sorry but LOL How do you expect to get to those battles? How to you expect to produce those ships? I mean come on!

jamoore42, Check out the graphs at the end of your games. It will tell you, at whatever point, how many ships the other empires had. Now if we had an in game counter, that would help, but it will give you an idea on how fast to build ships.

Earthbound, released 6/1/95 made Gamespot #2 most popular game. Am i missing something?

In my mind, i kind of think of it like Rise of Nations, Empire Earth, or Age of Empires, where there are limited units, and each unit has a function. I just played Age of Empires last night. I would say Sins has many more options than a traditional RTS. Of course thats my opinion. Where is the Tech Tree in those other RTS games? upgrade this unit, upgrade that unit, go to next era. Thats it. Don't make a mistake of trying to compare it to a turn based game. It needs to be s

It just seems like there needs to be one more unit in the game. A low tier unit with anti light damage, like the scount but better. But then there would need to be a counter for that..maybe the assault frigate? :SURPRISED:

I would like to be able to look at my planets on the map and be able to tell immediately which ones need upgrading. And this one is way out there, but.. I would like them to investigate the possiblity of tying some of the fleet points to how many planets you own, so empires with 5 planets cannot afford to have the same fleet size as an empire with 30 planets (like in the beta).

I totally agree. I don't like to say it, but it seems recently there are a group of people that come here just to cause trouble, with no suggestions on how things should be. Then they get suprised when everyone on the SINS FORUM doesn't want to hear there bashing about SINS. We may be fans of the game, we may have different opinions, but enough abuse, offer something constructive.

Unfortunately with the armor types, there is a rock/paper/scissors effect especially early game. Having LRMs in your fleet is pretty standard I think as well as fighters with your cap ship.
I just can't get attached to my faction
I kinda know how you feel. I wish there was a way to slightly tweak your faction, like in GacCivII. You could go into a game with a faction slightly better with economy, or military, espionage or whatever. Of course I'm talking about each faction within each race. I don't even call the other AI players by there names, usually I think of them like "yellow looks strong but maybe I should take out blue first".

I'm just not sure about the OP's suggestion that IC should have put out a stripped version of the game. I have a feeling if people would get a demo with 1 or 2 units, limited tech and limited civic upgrades, they would be saying "this game sucks, there aren't enough ships". I didn't think demos were made to be finished. Just to get a feel for the real game.
The techology just wasn't there to make the game continue to move outside of the battle once you'd zoomed in. However if you zoomed out and played with something else and came back the battle would have progressed. You could have more than one battle zone at a time and go back and forth between them to focus fire until the battle was lop sided, sound familiar?)
I think at one point, the devs said having smooth scrolling between ships and battles in the game was one of the

This is really annoying me. When I'm trying to move a unit to another planet, the trade ships and other ships that are already moving to that planet or leaving it are getting in the way. Basically ships show up "over" a planet when zoomed out rather than ending the trip at the end of the phase lane. Anybody else having this trouble? I get it alot too when trying to select a planet that has a bunch of trade ships coming out of it. I keep trying to
making loads of capital ships is by far the best strategy in SP
I tried this in my first few games, and got my ass handed to me by an AI that built a mixed fleet. I don't know whats wrong with your AI, but mine definitely knows how to fight. While I am trying to destroy those siege units with my fighters, the AI's bombers are killing my fleet. They are a good distraction, but i agree they are a useless unit when they use so much fleet supply.
So it could come as a shock that your PQ 18 Planet that you have built up suddenly starts turning into a toxic dustbin
Sounds Frustrating to me.

I found my Birth of the Federation disk recently and just remembered how much i LOVED that game and how much time I spent playing it. Then it hit me just how similar it is to Sins, even when the games are so different X-( Limited empire building and cat & mouse fleet movements come to mind. I read somewhere there was going to be a BOTF2, but I haven't seen anything recently about it. I really miss the good old days !
