Woodwhipser, it isn't actually activation. The game will play without activiation, and won't end ever. If you update code from the client, and have a SDC account registered, that only requires one code I think. I am sure this is not he case if you replace your computer or update it in a major way. <

How many people out there buy a non-refundable game. Install it. Read the ULA. Press the don't agree button and are satisfied? ???

No more 'Starforce' game.....NO MORE GAMES. Tired of all this crap. Bye bye hobbie.........for me. Bye bye career.....for Stardock. I'm with you. There comes a time when you realize that these games are not worth the hassles.

Its a real trip aint it? Like i mentioned in my last post, I'm packing it away for a while. May try playing again some day. Looks like lots of issues starting to surface as well. Devs are super, but I think the game exceeded their expectations and are a little pressed.

There is a free standing no activation download of the 1.1beta finally released right now in downloads section. No Stardock involved. I just downloaded it 25 megs and patch my game. Have you tried that? Yup, My patched CD game is no longer available to play. I disconnected from inet

Spearthrower: I do like the serial number and CD combo. What i disagree with is having to reactivate every time I change hardware. this is OK today, but breaks down over time. I have several programs that I lost due to buying too many computers over the years. I either exceed activation limits or the server is no longer available. I am thinking ahead here. I buy games for the long haul. Are we all willing to surrender our soft

Here we go again. The CD version does NOT require on line activation. The patch only applies to e-download version. A new patch may be published. This happend last time. People that accept on-line activation of CD games are sheep. (Baahhh!) (If this game does goes to CD and on-line activation. Its history for me. Another waste of 50 bucks. But I am learning!)

Before jumpingon the bug wagon, consider the history of your system. Are all service updates for the OS up to date? What programs have you installed since you got it? What web sites or music dowload stuff may be on it? Who have you let use it? etc etc etc. What I am trying to say is that there could be thousands of reasons for your problems. Each system is as different as a fingerprint due to history of its use. No two system

As a software developer, can you explain exactly what you mean by too much overhead? By overhead, I mean why do I have to install Central, something I will never use, just to download a patch to a seperate executable. I can simply use IE to got to a website, download the patc

Its obvious that SOME are clueless that a licensed user like me was able to download the updates off the regular site. With my serial number! SOME people should not assume that everyone else is clueless! (or pirating software) I happen to own the CD. I am a software developer. I CAN use a computer. Central is too much overhead for just simply updating my game.

My opinion is the same as the opening post. I attribute it to playing to win the game, knowing all future conditions and tech needed. Try to back off this and just focus on what would realistcally make sense for a race to do if it was exploring the heavens *without* the foreknowlege of how it will end, or at least progress. Heck, I just play for the fun of it and am not concerened if I win or lose. My goal is to develop a style

I really like the first post in this thread! My main gripe about the game is the unrealistice "rush".It would be like our space program pumping out shuttles to populate all the planets in out solar system because we "know" there are a given number of alien races doing the same even before we discovered that they existed! With the tips in the post, I may be able to pretend doing a realistic exploration, and have rational research goals th

I noticed that the latest patch is no longer on the game site. There is a reference to use Stardock Central instead. No offense guys, but I really don't want to install and use Central to get a game update. I now have the CD and have had bad problems even understanding what "Central" was asking of me half the time. Its real easy just to download the patch and i

Why is my post all screwed up? Looks like it posted every keystroke. Could a moderator fix this?

I do not use Stardock Central. That is why I purchased a retail copy. How do I get this working again? Ditto here too!

Just type in your serial # that's on the back of the CD. Updates require a serial # to be entered. The serial # is on the back of your CD. Once you have put that in, you won't even need a CD. You'll have access to the full game on-line even years from now. FrogBoy.. You are really confusing me here. What do you mean by on-lin

My question is: Did Stardock make a mistake and include activation by accident or was it intentional all along and that was one of their bugs that they fixed? If it was required all along, where was this mentioned on the web site? I know it may be in the ula, butg that does no good AFTER you bought the product. Returns are not likely. Since I am a developer, I reimage al
