Game won't Activate

I bought this game from EB Games, I installed the game, on my 'gaming computer', played the game.
All OK.
Then I downloaded the 'bonus pack patch', and the patch 1.1, installed them and now I get an 'Activation' screen...I enter my
serial number and it tells me it can't find a connection!....well I DON'T have a connection on that computer. It's not connected to
the internet. I have the disc IN the machine, but it still tells me to copy a coded msg, and send it via email, it's not even on 'this' computer, I can't copy it, or send 'anything' out on my gaming computer.

I downloaded the patches on this computer and burn them to disk, install them on my gaming computer. So is my game no longer going to run?

Help.

Only way is the hard way I guess, copy the coded msg to a text file, put it on disk / USB stick and sent it on a with Inet access. SD will then send you a activation back.

It isn't important. You can play GC2 without having the disc in the drive.

Well, unless I am mistaken, but it was clear when installing the 1.1 patch that an activation would be required. BTW, 1.1 is a beta update

Stardock definetly took a step backwards when adding the activation.

Yeah, any sort of patch needs the internet activation dealie. Frankly, I find that more intrusive than having the cd in the drive, but that's just me...

Either way it's a form of copy protection, and if it keeps you from playing it sucks.

Ah...ya.....either way, it sucks.
I haven't got a burner on the drive....can't burn the msg.
Paid good money for a game I can no longer run.

Do I pour more money into this, buying a CD Burner?
I think NOT.
No more 'Starforce' game.....NO MORE GAMES.
Tired of all this crap.
Bye bye hobbie.........for me.
Bye bye career.....for Stardock.

Maybe a USB key. It should be cheaper. Or floppy disk if that is an available option

BTW, this thread https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=105705 explain how to proceed. But I am wondering how you could have a computer that doesn't have any means to transfert data to another system, be it floppy disk, USB key, CD burner ....

I burned it on a floppy.....and sent it in via email....haven't gotten any response, it's been a few hours.
I'll wait.
We'll see.

I'm with you.  There comes a time when you realize that these games are not worth the hassles.

I received a response from my e-mail....with an attached file.
I'll try it and if it does work.....I'll give the support guys their "at-a-boy".....but they sure make it hard.
Course I'd be better off if I had a CD burner....but 'StarFORCE' took care of that........which is why I bought this game.

It's 'worth it'......if it 'works' in the end ....and in this case, that's up to the 'support guys' here.
Thanks for the help....and the posters here make it easier to take the games glitches too.

OK....put the file in the directory....works like advertised.

Great support here.....I see lots of problems, as with any new game, and I know I was a 'hard' case....sorry, but I've been previously beaten up by "Starforce"....and came here in no 'mood' to be kicked again.

Thanks .....guess I'll stick around a while longer.....lol.....

Good Deal Murphy, enjoy the game!

Fordson, T-man helped me with my, (our?), problem with the serial issue in that other thread
