I'm playing version 1.1 beta 4. They get 10 points to distribute in addition to the massive inherent ability bonuses. That's a bug that only happens the first time upon loading the game. If you press reset twice, you will lose all the abilities that aren't race-specific. It's the same with all th

To Oldstatesman. My point is not that you should pick the same bonuses. You can pick whatever you want. My point is that if you do pick the same bonues, to you as a player evey single race will play the same, with a few exceptions. Bonuses are what defines strengths and weaknesses between races, and since you CAN pick same bonus

Do I absolutely, positively have to have that third party program in order to get the beta? I know I found a beta without it some time ago. That "third" party developer you are talking about already has one program on your computer, Galciv 2. So if you are that distrustful of them, you should probably

No, the game should simply work correctly. If you capture a planet where someone has built a small wonder, it should disappear. Or, failing that, be non-functional. It's a bug, plain and simple. Saying that something you don't like is a bug is getting really old.

Nonsense. The Drath get both the massive bonuses and 10 points to distribute. I don't know which version you are playing but in the latest beta they get 3 points to distribute. I very much doubt that they ever got 10 points.

The building was added in beta-3 of 1.1 so that might be the problem. It isn't available in any previous version of the game. You also have to start a new game after upgrading to be able to use it.

Captain Data: 1,2,3,5,8 works fine for me. You can change 5 in the options. Which beta-version are you running? Doesn't sound like the latest version (beta-4) to me. 9,10,11 ain't what I would call bugs. 7 should be directed to Paradox. Stardock isn't doing the translations.

Saying that farms sucks now is silly. Taxes never were directly proportionate to the population, in any version of the game. I usually build at least one farm+morale+economy-buildings at pq-10 or better planets in 1.1-beta. Works fine for me. Ain't it nice that it's possible to play in different ways?

That's the way it should be. The .xml-files (including the planet improvements-file) are only read when you start a new game. Otherwise, it would be extremly easy to cheat if things got bad.

I like the new stargate-starbase type idea, but as with everything new, only if the AI would be able to use it well.

Wrong. They still provide bonuses. Go into details on a planet and you will se the bonus under 'Planet Bonus'.

I have to add that I also have seen the AI build some weird planets. I conquered three Korx planets recently in my latest game begun in beta-3A. The two of them that were a little over pq 10 both had 5 to 6 entertainment centers and 0 farms. Haven't seen the multiple starport-bug yet though. But I mostly think the AI is doing a good job developing it's planets. That's not the reason that I repeatedly crush them. Take the Dreng

One of the things I'm noticing is that the AI isn't re-designing its ships often enough. This was put in for performance reasons but I think we can do it a better way (which I'm now implementing, recompiling, etc.). It won't help the AI players this game, but it will help them in the future if they can make use of their new tech

Uhh, corners suck because they make it too easy, even without exploiting starbases. I prefer to be somewhat in the middle of the map with enemies on all sides.
