I've beat my head against the wall for months trying to convert a ported UIS 1 visual style to UIS 2, including converting the bitmaps to .png, etc.. without success. The standard answer to your question has always been a resounding "No!". Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Now watch, someone will come along and say, "Sure.... it's easy!" But of course, no details will be given either. <img src="http://www.the-highway.com/Smileys/rofl

Copy/paste the contents of the "System Information" from the WindowBlinds configuration window. That would be a great help in diagnosing your problem.
I see this problem occasionally too. And I also see a "dwatson failed to initialize because Windows is shutting down" error as well. Unloading WindowsFX resolves the issue. Win XP SP-2 (fully patched) AMD Atholong 1.8 1 gig SDRAM ATI Radeon 9550 (latest basic drivers)
What is the name of the skin you are having a problem with? Knowing that we can load the skin and see if the same issue exists on other's systems. BTW, what "buttons" are you referring to? And what do you mean by they "just stopped changing"?
geshe: There is no ".wb3" extension. What may be happening is that XP is changing the file extension to ".wb3" from it's native extension. For example, it is a known issue that WindowBlinds files (.wba) are converted to a ".zip" sometimes when downloading them. In that situation, you simply rename the file extension to ".wba" and either double-click on it to install the WB skin or use the "Add skin" feature within the WindowBlinds GUI main window. This also ha
I know this subject has been broached before and I did try, really, to find the previous thread but came up empty. So, let's have a go at it again. There is the occasional WB skin that has no "Preview" (thumbnail) in the WindowBlinds GUI. And even the name of the skin may be missing and "Unknown" is displayed for the name instead. Someone here had mentioned an easy fix for this situation by adding/changing one or two items in SkinStudio. Can that someone, or anyone else, share that fix
Are you using the free Trial version or the full paid version? If the Trial version, perhaps the time limit has expired.
I've only had one CursorXP theme cause this so far, "Tronnix" by J.J. Ying. If I try to use it via the CursorXP utility in Mouse Properties, CursorXP crashes. But if I double-click on the file I have stored in a folder on my HDD, it works fine.
Yep, I experienced the same anomaly and thus had to forego using that feature in WindowFX. I've got better things to do with my time than spending it rearranging my Desktop icons several times per day.
Sorry..... wrong thread!
Neil, The latest release resolved the problem on my particular system.
Wblind.dll 2006/03/21 13:33:46 Your WBlind.dll is not the most recent (Wblind.dll 2006/05/22 19:55:42), which is very odd since you said you just updated through SDC. If I were you, I would uninstall WindowBlinds, reboot, open SDC and UNcheck the option "Show pre-release versions" and
Aggravating double post deleted!!
Yep, it can be done and quite easily. NOTE: at this time it doesn't appear that you can add "sounds" to a "per pixel" skin. In SkinStudio: Put a copy of the ".wav" files you want to use in the skin's folder. Open SkinStudio and then open the skin you want to add the sounds to. On the tree on the left, expand "Window Borders". Click on "Titlebar Buttons - Free Form". <br
What you want to do is for WMP 9+. Simply right-click on the Taskbar choose "Toolbars" and click on "Windows Media Player". The player will then appear on the Taskbar when you Minimize it.
Yep, this issue has been mentioned in here several times but I've not seen any response from Stardock about it. Whether or not they are looking into it or not Neil Banfield or some other Stardock employee would have to verify.
DIGITZMAN That would apply ONLY if one has the FULL "Styler" program. It does not apply when someone is using just the "Styler Toolbar" since the "Themes" section is disabled. As I wrote above, my particular problem was caused by the "Theme Service" being disabled.
I thought I would share how I have resolved my problem with Styler Toolbar killing WindowBlinds on startup so that if anyone else in the future experiences this problem, they can try the information below as one thing they can do and perhaps resolve it. The "fix" seems to have been to start the "Theme" service and set it to "Automatic". This particular service I had stopped and and set to "Disabled" quite some time back since it is
I asked a similar question some time back about these "duplicate" copies of Toolbar icons. The answer was that each of those alleged "duplicates" are for the substyles of the skins that have them. Thus, for example, you would see 2 "duplicates" for a skin that has a standard/full Start Menu and a Compact Start Menu substyle. As for removing them, I don't think that is possible.
It sounds like that app is requesting theme changes incorrectly. Neil, thanks for the incredibly fast reply!! Any suggestions as to what I might do to fix this? or do you suspect that the problem is inherent in Styler Toolbar itself and thus cannot be changed by me?
When I reboot my XP (SP-2) machine, everything loads as it should UNTIL I start "Styler Toolbar 1.38". I only have "Styler Toolbar" and not the full program. When the program starts, the Taskbar goes black and the Clock changes display, e.g., from 3 lines to one line. To fix this, I have to unload WindowBlinds, restart it and apply the skin. After that, everything works fine. I've removed Styler from Startup and tried starting it manually after everythi
In the WindowBlinds configuration window, click on "Basic Settings". Under the heading, "Ehance Desktop Elements", UNcheck the item, "use skin sounds (if any)".
I'm just curious if there are people in this community who are running Styler Toolbar (or Styler full but w/Toolbar mode) and WB 5.01. I tried the downloadable "Evaluation Version" of Styler 1.38 and it raised havoc with WindowBlinds even though I checked to use "Toolbar mode". Are these two programs incompatible? or is it possible that there is something that needs to be configured to make them work together nicely? <img src="http://www.the-highway
Curently I am running at 3200x1200 on dual 21" monitors. That is what Neil is referring to..... 3200x1200 which is very high resolution. Why not try reducing it down and see if you still have the problem?
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem with WindowBlinds 5.xx and explorer.exe. If I change skins 3 or 4 times via the WB Configuration window and then reboot, I get the proverbial "Ending Process" dialog and I have to manually click on the "End Now" button. If I don't change skins, then there isn't a problem rebooting. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
