And just what feature/function in the Beta builds are you lacking/wanting in the release build? Most companies don't even offer a "beta" build of their products due to the problems that arise from "techie wanna-be's" installing it and then complaining that it doesn't work 100%. And, most companies have a dedicated "Beta" team that only has access to the beta builds. So, in contrast to you, I am glad that Stardock is NOT like other companie

SSDP Discovery Service (Click disable) Whether or not the SSDP DIscovery Service is related to your problem it is fine, even recommended that the service be disabled along with "Universal Plug and Play Device Host", which has nothing to do with "Plug & Play" hardware devices, e.g., monitors, speakers, etc. Both are security risks and at least at this
Hmmmmm, from your screenshot the Taskbar looks very transparent. I see the water of the Desktop wallpaper showing through. So, it looks fine from what I see.
Neil, Strange..... when I checked which version I had installed via Stardock Central in Vista, it said Build 5.49a[b].020. SD then updated itself, restarted and it showed version Build 5.49a[b].021 was available. Obviously, I updated and now everything is working fine in Vista RC2 for me. BTW..... where has the option to apply/not apply skin-included wallpapers gone to?
Neil wrote: We are aware that on some machines it takes out explorer either on initial skin apply, or on unload. We are tracking down why this is. Would the machines that have this problem be running the RTM build rather than the RC2 build of Vista? I finally installed the latest WB beta on Vista RC2 and immediately experienced thi
I'm wondering if whatever it is that you have running in your System Tray <---------- (weather, etc.) is causing the problem? Have you tried shutting that addon down to see if the "jaggies" disappear?
If you open the WindowBlinds configuration window and click on "[View my] System Information", it will tell you if your current video can support the "per pixel" feature or not.
"Disabling" them may not be enough. I've read where some have had to totally remove the addons and then reinstall them to correct their own anomalies. Yep, it's a pain to do this, but not overly so if it does in fact fix your issues.
There is no guarantee, of course, that WB 5.5 beta or any later release would run perfectly on your present version of Vista. At this time, given what has already been said above, which is all true, you only have the individual reports of those who are running WB 5.5 on their Vista installation. I have WB 5.5 installed on Vista RC2 and it works fine. The only thing I had to correct was how desktop wallpapers were displayed. I had to change the setting to "stretch" as the default was set to "cent
GREAT!! Now... a couple of questions. 1) What about compatibility of Stardock Central and Vista, since that is the only way to download/install the new WindowBlinds 5.5? Are there any problems installing Stardock Central on Vista, e.g., RC2? 2) Is it recommended that current XP users install this new WB version 5.5?
You can try deleting the folders for those skins ONLY which aren't being displayed in the WindowBlinds configuration window via Windows Explorer. Then try and "Add" them once again using the WB config window. You may have to click on the "Rebuild List" after each is installed.
dustyshot exclaimed: Sorry, but I do not have forever to wait. I will concur with your conclusion that you don't have forever to wait. The end of your days here on earth are going to come quickly in comparison. Thus, my advice would be to not wait. But how you should fill in the time of not waiting I'll leave up to you. <img src
Thanks..... so what you are saying is that the preferred method is to change the Metrics height (aka: caption height) to match the Titlebar height, correct? What has been puzzling to me all this time is that I have not seen any noticeable difference after making a change either way.
Surely someone here knows about this. It is quite common. So, how about some input people?
Most likely someone will come along, e.g., Bichur, hehe.. and give you a link to the "zapper" which will remove most of the old WindowBlinds files. Then you can install it again via Stardock Central. I would also suggest that even after you run the "zapper" that you also run a good and safe Registry Cleaner, e.g., "RegSupreme" to remove any leftovers. Just hang in there and you'll do just fine. Great to see you came around, so to speak, and did the right thing by purchasing ObjectDesktop. You wo
Bichur lamented: nuthin out there like favicon picker? Get yourself a copy of "FavOrg". Although IE7 does a far better job of displaying favicons, FavOrg stores them in a separate folder so that they aren't removed when you clean out your TIP, History, etc. And, an additional be
Often such problems are caused by one or more "Addons" which have been installed for IE6 but are incompatible with IE7. You might find uninstalling any Addons, one at a time and then running IE7 after each removal could determine the "guilty" one and resolve your issue.
Quite often, when modifying a skin and then saving it I get a "Validation" error similar to the following: "Titlebar height calculated from the image (73) and its corresponding metrics height (23) do not match. etc." 1) What should be done to correct it? - Change the first number to the second (73 to 23 in the example above)? - Change the second number to the first (23 to 73 in the example above)? - Nothing.. don't worry about it? 2) What affect will chang
IE7 is working perfect with WindowBlinds on my system including the right-click/rollup feature. I've tried it with over a dozen different WB skins and they all work great.
At this point, the Command window isn't skinned with WB 5.1. There has been several threads on this issue already here. It's not a big deal for most of us.
Double-click anywhere in Task Manager window to return to the default display.
On the left, under Miscellaneous, you have to CLICK on "Colors". That will display the attributes for "Colors" on the right. Then you will see "Selections".
Yes, you can change the "highlight" color easily using Skin Studio. Open Skin Studio and load the skin you would like to work with and: 1. On the left, expand "Miscellaneous". 2. Click on "Colors" 3. On the far right, expand "Selections" 4. Click on "Text highlighted" 5. Change the color to one of your choice. 6. Save the change(s) by either clicking the "Save" icon on the Toolbar or click, "File/Save". 7. Reload the skin to view your changes.
Another suggestion would be to edit your wallpaper in an image editing program, e.g., PSP, PhotoShop, etc... and simply increase the canvas size (evenly distributed) to match your current monitor's resolution, e.g., 1024x768 and choose whatever color you desire for the canvas. Then simply use the "stretch" option for the wallpaper. This way it wouldn't matter what skin you used, the border won't change.
