The idiotic postings below about the democratic party.

The idiotic postings below about the democratic party.

You complain about nothing positivey from democrats??!? Maybe you missed the eight years of non-stop whining from the republicans! For eight long years they couldn't get over an ELECTED president they didn't like. Imagine if Clinton's brother had fixed his election, not one republican would ever SHUT UP about it!
EVER!

You want a positive agenda? Try the earned income tax credit that CLinton got passed that lifted millions of Americans who work for a living out of poverty and off welfare. Try the programs that put internet and computers into the vast majority of american schools that we without them. Try the Middle class tax cuts that gave us unpresidented booming stock markets that dwarfed anything before or since. You could try the lowest unemployment in 30 years. Or the first budget surplus on a yearly basis in 36 years. You want positive? Then put a democrat back in charge!

You want negative? Then look around. THree years and we have the highest deficits in the HISTORY of the country. We have lost 3 MILLION jobs in just three years, that never happened any time except the great depression with Hoover. You want negative, the judges you want to call qualified would love to take us back to slavery and a church run society. When your justice dept is run by a man who was fighting to keep Activly bussing black kids across town to stick them in all black schools, you are not an acceptable judge of qualifications.
You want negative, try the blaming of enron's rip off of charging 3000% higher than the highest rates in HISTORY in California on the salmon run like Cheney did. With memo's calling the program "death star" in Enron stationary, Bush said "I don't know Ken Lay". Only texas newspapers from the Gov's term show them buddy buddy as can be. He is a LIAR!@|!!!!
In the 2000 debate Bush claimed he sponsered a bill of rights for patients in Texas, and blabbered on and on about how proud he was of it. HE VETOED IT TWICE!!! And it became law WITHOUT his SIGNATURE! He's a LIAR!! Clear and plain.

You want to talk about the blackout, Fine. Lets talk about how the Grid upgrade was in the budget until BUsh told the gopers to veto it. TWICE! Republicans talk about responsibility, but somehow, when they are in office and everything always goes to hell, they are never responsible for any of it according to them. Let's talk about the fact that the company where it happened, first Energy gave hundreds of thousands to Bush and had massive leaks in their reactor in Ohio
that they barely caught when inspecters came in. The safety record for them is disgusting.
Yet thanks to Bush, the regulaters keep loosening the reigns on them.

Well, if you control all three branches, and the country is in the worst state it's been since the depression, don't tell me you aren't responisible!

You want positive agenda, look at the small business tax breaks Howard Dean gave in VErmont that increased their jobs by 26% over six years. Only his state isn't cutting everything to the bone under Bush. Only his state still has a $10 million dollar surplus to get through.
Across the country, every state run by the GOP is bankrupt. What to the republicans say for themselves? Excuse after excuse. Bill Clinton had one affair, Bush is screwing the whole nation.

Could it be all the herbal teas? I had a friend and she washed with a moisturizing soap, she thought Bill Clinton was a great president, and I thought the soap moisturized her brain as it moisturized her face.

With all the liberals in the academia of America, it is a miracle that anyone has any clue of the history behind Korea, Iran, Iraq, US, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, France, Germany, Israel, Arabia, India-Pakistan or our own role in American History the past Century.

Let’s chat about President Carter for a moment, he introduced the Pain Index (Inflation Rate + Unemployment Rate) over 25 percent, it absolutely killed the economy and brought the spectre of another Great Depression to everyone’s mind. Carter gutted the Military, his Foreign Policies led to a humiliating 444 Day hostage stand-off. "America Held Hostage" was the headlines for 1 1/2 years. Wringing his hands, he sent the gutted and demoralized military to "rescue" the hostages leading to a fiery end in the desert when they couldn't get even 3 Helicopters and a transport plane to work.

"President" Carter was the reason Democrats stampeded to vote for Reagan, (at that time with the number of registered Democrats; a Republican could not get elected if some Democrats didn't vote Republican).

What do you expect Israel to do? Not fight back and let the terrorists push them into the sea?

The days of the 'terrorists pushing Israel into the sea' are long gone.
Under the present Israeli Government it is a case of more and more Palestinians being displaced to allow Jewish settlements to expand .... many of the displaced have lived peacefully alongside their Jewish neighbours for years.
It is all rather redolent of Europe in the late 1930s.
That aside, Israel lacks real leadership and is split by so many opposing factions as to be just another 'Middle Eastern Aggressor' rather than a Jewish 'Homeland'.
Of course, being an American 'sponsored' power must make them the good guys .... or am I being just too cynical?

Hardly!
Just another example of how NOT to run an operation by committee!
With each branch of the military trying to get in on the act and one-up the others it was a grade a cock-up waiting to happen.
20/20 Hindsight is a wonderful thing, more so from an uninformed academic's comfy seat in front of a keyboard.

Grey Davis is a perfect example of the savage Democrat, he little more than a vindictive hater of America; he is getting recalled for destroying California’s economy and just to screw up things even worse he has decided to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens effectively making the California driver identification worthless.

Civilization is the result of cooperation and human creativity, if the ancient Egyptians were Democrats there would never have been pyramids because cooperation and creativity would have been to scarce a resource for such an achievement.
I thought Grey Davis didn't want illegal immagrants to have licenses but Leading Republican Arnold does...

I heard on the news that he wants to repeal it.

Gray Davis wants to give illegal aliens licenses because he knows he is going to loose his job anyways. He's upset that he will get recalled.

Most California Democrats support giving illegal aliens licenses. Allowing illegal aliens to have licenses hurts national security. If an illegal gets pulled over and has no license, he can be arrested and eventually deported. If an illegal with a license gets pulled over, the officer does not know he is illegal and lets him go with his ticket. Think how much easier it would be for terrorists to go to Mexico, sneak past the border into California, and get a driver's license.

Gray Davis clearly does not care about national security.

Look at how screwed up California's economy is because of Gray Davis and the Democratically controlled state legislature. Imagine if Democrats had such control of the country. Imagine what terrible shape our economy would be.

I am all for immigration and allowing citizens of foreign countries to live here temporarily. I do not support foreigners coming here illegally. Anybody who wishes to enter our borders must have their background checked out first. It is for our national security. Anybody who enters our borders illegally should be deported, and anyone who enters our borders legally should be welcome to stay.
Not only should America’s borders be secured tighter but also the Visa process should be a much more in depth process. The Sept 11th attacks were carried out by wealthy Arabs not poor illegal aliens or immigrant refugees, naturally that doesn’t mean that illegal aliens could be any less dangerous but the fact is that rich sons of wealthy Arabs with legal visas are the biggest threat. I am not trying to diminish Grey Davis and his vindictive behavior, the law he is passing makes California’s license as worthless as the paper it is printed on in all the surrounding states.

As much as I don't want to resurrect this thread after a barrage of ditto-headed nonsense I felt this was worth reading. It's a commentary piece and I don't know the source though the author is credited.

As Bush spreads lies throughout the land, dissenters are corralled
into “Free Speech Zones” –- is this America?
By By Mick Youther

Did you see the coverage of Prime Minister Tony Blair arriving to
testify at the Royal Courts of Justice last week? The street was a mob
scene with police, security vans, motorcycles, and protesters. The
protesters greeted Blair by chanting “Shame on You.” and banners
accusing him of using “weapons of mass deception.” “Bliar” T-shirts
and Pinocchio-style noses were the fashion of the day for the
protesters collecting signatures demanding Blair's resignation. All
and all, it was rude, rowdy, disgusting display of British democracy
in action. America doesn’t have to worry about that kind of ugly scene
anymore.

• “Anyone with an anti-Bush sign is relegated into what is
euphemistically called a Free Speech or Demonstration Zone -- a swath
of land usually off the main thoroughfare and chained off so as to
make it virtually impossible for the targets of the protest to read
the signs or hear the chants.”
--Robyn E. Blumner, St. Petersburg Times, 10/13/02

• “We were not allowed anywhere near any kind of position where the
president, or the media which follows him, would see or hear us…. The
effort being made to hide political opposition in this country is more
than cowardly. It's un-American.”
--Peter Buckley, candidate for Congress in Oregon

• “You may have seen the item yesterday about demonstrators against
President Bush being herded inside a fence at Neville Island for his
Labor Day visit. Police called this enclosure the designated
free-speech area, though anyone who had signs praising the president
was evidently OK to line the island's main street for the motorcade.”
--Brian O'Neill Pittsburgh Post-Gazette September 5, 2002

• “I asked him if it was the content of my sign, and he said, ‘Yes,
sir, it's the content of your sign that's the problem.’ And so it's
just become a matter of procedure that the Secret Service is clearing
the area of anybody that would have a message that would be contrary
to George Bush's policies.”
--Brett Bursey, activist arrested for holding a "No War for Oil" sign
outside a Free Speech Zone

One of the more disturbing aspects of all this is the willingness of
local authorities to follow the Bush Administration’s lead and harass
peaceful protesters. They give excuses, “We’re just doing our job,” or
the more infamous -- “We are just following orders.” Neither excuse is
acceptable.

• “When I asked the officer why we were not allowed on the sidewalk
like the people walking to the picnic and residents holding pro-Bush
signs, he simply said, ‘Orders.’”
--Regis T. Sabol, New Deal Publications

• “When we asked why [we would be arrested if we did not move to a
cordoned-off area out of sight of the crowds] we never got a clear
answer; something like being a threat to national security, or
something to that effect. He was just ‘doing his job.’”
--Dorothy Wolden, Northland Chapter of Grandmothers for Peace, 8/29/03

We cannot allow Bush & Co. to spread their campaign of lies across
America while we stand quietly behind the dumpster on the other side
of the building. They can visit our communities, but that doesn’t mean
they own them. Maintaining security is one thing, but a sign that says
“Bush is a Liar” is no more dangerous than one that says “Bush in
’04.”

We need to let our local elected officials know, in advance, that our
local authorities had better not take part in any Gestapo tactics
orchestrated by Federal agents. Their job is to protect and defend the
Constitution, not suppress peaceful protests against Bush & Co.

Demand that your representatives in Congress pass legislation that
will put an end to “Free Speech Zones.” When it comes to peaceful
assembly and protest, America is the Free Speech Zone.

• “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech, or of
the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
--Constitution of the United States, The Bill of Rights, Article I

• "We need to do more than be passive observers of history, because
the decisions being made right now are our future....”
--High school sophomore Sol Kelley-Jones, representing Students for an
Informed Response

That's just not right. I remember back when (I forget the year) they were having the Democratic National Convention in New York, if I'm not mistaken, to nominate the Presidential candidate and they 'swept' all the homeless people off the streets so they wouldn't be seen by the cameras.
I understand trying to keep order but trying to hide what may be considered 'bad' to your image usually backfires when people hear about it.
I mean, it's America, there is going to be dissension. When there is not, that is the time to be really worried. And if there is a problem with people being homeless, don't try to play like it doesn't exist or hide them so people won't know about it.

I am a Ditto head …that statement followed up by a copy paste series of statements including the popular left comparison of bush to Gestapo; do you even know what a Gestapo was? When law agents become death squads and start kicking in doors, summarily executing citizens by machine gunning them dead in front of their homes, leaving them in the street, that is a Gestapo, have you seen that happen lately ? Would you consider comparing Bush to a Gestapo rhetoric?

A small (leftist) segment of the public opposes the war with Iraq. The polls don't support the liberal propaganda on this. Why is it that in the times when we most need unity, the political left takes to the streets in opposition to our government and our best interests? What all of the so called "war protests” are really about is the fact that the liberals hate President Bush and see the great majority of Americans firmly rejecting their leftist ideologies. I support the American troops in the field wherever they have to take the fight; I have little or no sympathy for the cause of the anti-American, hypocritical socialist left that would sell our collective souls to communists and dictators.

Leftist protesters should all be arrested for disturbing the peace. They should all get jobs or learn skills to find employment and do something productive for America instead of standing around and banging a drum attacking the president for doing his job and combating terrorism.

The only problem I have with public protests is when they get to the point of inconveniencing people. For example, when protesters flood the streets and make it more difficult for people to get home during rush hour.

I agree, most people are working, and working on their studies as well, the last thing I need is to get tied up in traffic resulting from Marxist-Leninist communists blocking traffic.

I see, anyone wishing to exercise their right of free speech is a Marxist-Leninist Communist. Hmmm...

Anthony R...your post #261 smacks of that 'Gestapo' thinking you so rile against....it is a sad indictment on political debate to sweep all protestors under the description/statement...

It's quite hilarious when it follows the reference in the prior posting about the rights expressed in that 'wonderful' US Constitution that everyone likes to fondle lasciviously.

I think if you reread...[and comprehend] you'll see it's the actions of the Police/security that is likened to the tactics of the Gestapo....and Political oppression is exactly what the Gestapo was all about...so the comparison is entirely apt....

Was it really necessary to call all protesters Communists? It's not a very informed statement.

Liberals are so concerned with preventing pro-life protestors from blocking the entrance of abortion clinics, yet they are okay with anti-war hippies preventing regular Joes from getting home from work who may or may not care about what the protestors have to say.

Abortion doctors have been physically attacked and killed before by these protestors. I haven't heard of an incident where one of these anit-war protestors attacked someone who they were in the way of.

Many pro-life protestors are peaceful people. Those who have attacked or killed abortion doctors and/or clinic staff represent a very small extreme minority. Many pro-lifers including myself do not support the actions of these extremists. We do not consider these extemists to be true pro-lifers because there is nothing pro-life about using terrorism.

There is a war of ideology in America, the opposition on the left are wrong to distinguish between the war on terror and the war against Iraq. Peace activists have no response to terrorism other than "Choose Peace Not War." Over 100 celebrities signed an open letter opposing military action in Iraq. Last October, actor Sean Penn placed an ad in the Washington Post that criticized President Bush's war policy. He then traveled to Baghdad to assess the situation for himself and, presumably, for his fans. Not surprisingly, Penn concluded that America, not Iraq, was to blame for the tensions between the two nations. No doubt he will trek to Pyongyang before next summer and reach a similar conclusion.

The peace activists are sincere, dedicated, and sometimes they display bravery of sorts. But their policy of unilateral passivity will leave us vulnerable to being blackmailed to death as enemies arm themselves against us. More evil than war, is the sentiment that pervades the peace movement, there is nothing worth fighting for. Luckily there is a large group of Americans, those in uniform who are willing to do the very dirty work that may be necessary to achieve another extended period of peace.
