Avast is not a very good AV. I would suggest whitelisting Start10.

If you purchase an Object Desktop membership you will get all updates and any new apps as long as your membership is active. If you decide not to renew, you can still use the apps, you just need to backup the installers as they won't be available for download. Desktop Essentials is just a bundle of some of our popular apps. It is not a membership.
