I've got a very similar problem. When I try to open a Word or Ppt or Excel file from a folder portal I see the message "Do you want to open or save this file". When I select 'open', the file is opened but in read-only mode. Also, the folder portal seems to think I've opened a folder rather than the file! So far, I've found this only applies to MS Office files. E.g. From a folder portal I can open jpg files using Paint or PDF files using PdfExchange

Oh so it does :-) Having set the hot key I'd subconsciously thought 'problem fixed' so I was just rolling the mouse over a rolled up fence. Of course that still unrolls behind the app windows. The program is doing what we were told - it unrolls in front provided you press Win+Space. Thanks
THIS REQUEST CAN SAFELY BE IGNORED! MY MISTAKE: (1) works as described, (2) I think this has ben implemented anyway. Oops - not quite perfect. When the Fence unrolls it still comes up behind the currently displayed windows so it is of limited value. I used FancyZones to define a narrow zone at the top of the screen which can display a single row of icons on a Fence. But that is a pretty terrible solution. Two ways to solve this are: 1.
Hi Basj That looks perfect. Thank you!
Perhaps another solution would be to have a function that displays the desktop without the risk of losing the current window layout. It would function like the Windows 10 style menu but would show the desktop instead. The reason for all this is that I need a complete replacement for the Windows 10 style menu. The menu is unreliable. When all the user installed Edge web site app icons suddenly stop working there seems no way to repair it. There is also no obvious way to back
The Windows 10 style start menu does not fill the screen. Configuration/Use fullscreen menu is set to On. Previous version worked fine and the problem occurred when I updated to the latest (without changing any settings). Tried fiddling with settings (which looked OK) and restarting the PC but the problem remains. If Configuration/Use fullscreen menu is set to Off, the start menu can be dragged to full screen but it snaps back to be smaller than full screen.
Hi I think a switch to enable and disable tablet mode in Windows 11 would be useful. In Windows 11 it is not possible manually to disable tablet mode. PROBLEM: A possible consequence of tablet mode is that the setting to disable Windows Explorer check boxes is ignored. This may only apply to touch screen/tablet devices. The Windows Explorer check boxes appeared recently for all Explorer windows on my Surface Pro 8 but it was already happening when using One
Hi Neil None of the Microsoft application tiles were migrated. PyCharm, for example, was migrated.x Hope that helps
I have installed version 1.15 of Start 11 on a Windows 10 PC. It was supposed to migrate the Windows 10 start menu to Start 11. That is a crucial feature for me. But it only migrated a small fraction of the Windows 10 start menu tiles to Start 11. Is this a bug or is there something about certain tiles that prevents migration?
Will do. Thanks
I just installed version 1.15 of Start 11. It was supposed to migrate the Windows 10 start menu to Start 11. That is a crucial feature for me. But it only migrated a small fraction of the Windows 10 start menu tiles to Start 11. I'm beginning to be a little disappointed having been through beta versions from early on. I previously suggested a feature to export and import Windows 10 style start menus. That would give us a major functional improvement over na
Where are we with the ability, quickly and easily, to save and restore start menus and move start menus between machines? Lack of this ability made Microsoft Windows 10 look half finished. Of course Windows 11 has just made the start menu worse without even fixing the defect in Windows! This is a serious requirement for anyone with more than one PC. Trying to keep them in step is no fun after the first few hours. OK I know this feature would be imperfect but something
Two issues that I previously reported still appear to be present in beta 1.01. Using the Start11 Win11 Start Menu: 1) Right clicking on some pinned apps and selecting (More/Run as administrator) will pop up an error. For example, doing this on the standard Win11

Hi Just wondering what features are coming up and when the next release is expected. I'd like to start upgrading Windows 10 PCs to Windows 11 but I really want the ability for start 11 to copy the Windows 10 style Start Menu into Start 11 prior to upgrading to W11. I believe Stardock has this facility, or something like it, under consideration for Start11. Ideally Start11 would be able to re-export its configuration in order to back it up or copy it to another PC.
The reason for the large space is because you enabled "show more tiles" and you haven't placed anything in the 4th column - this was the same in real Win10 Reduced 88% <div class="o
Previous comments about tile spacing removed. I misunderstood what 'show more tiles' etc. means. Me being silly and not testing fully. Many thanks for a program that meets a genuine need. I notice there is a lot of publicity for Start11 and hope it catches on. It seems to me that we cannot have a 'one size fits all' approach to the Windows GUI so Microsoft is in an impossible position. Clearly, making it better for some makes it worse for others!
Hello, Big issue for power users. Activating Start 11 gets rid of my entire, well-crafted and sorted start menu. Also, centering the menu in the middle of the screen doesn't work. Installed via Object Desktop ... Any fix? thanks
Do you mean that we need way to import the Windows
This is an observation on usability, and a bug (I think) Platform is Windows 10 Pro testing Start11. Start11 is active and using Windows 10 style Start Menu. Make a web page into an app from Edge. Select 'Pin to Start' RESULT: Tile appears on Windows 10 Start Menu but not on the Start11 Menu. The tile must be pinned from the Start11 apps list. Start11 does not highlight newly installed apps so finding the new app can be inconvenient (depending on
I think drag and drop for groups, in Windows 10 style, is excellent at version 1.0. In a previous version it was rather hit and miss, I thought. Now I see that it is in fact a faster and better way of rearranging the groups than 'standard' Windows drag and drop. Many thanks for sticking to the design!
I ran the update when the dialog (to 1.0) popped up in Windows 10. But the download 'stuck' just before 100% and after several minutes nothing else had happened. So I cancelled the update, ran it from Start11 and it worked fine. I'm not completely sure of the exact sequence of events, unfortunately, but I have seen this before.
Repositioning groups on Windows 10 style Start Menu with version 0.94. (Running on Windows 10 and testing the Windows 10 style start menu of Start 11 prior to upgrade.) Repositioning of groups now works (or maybe I only just found out how) but I've never seen anything quite like it. As a group is moved around, all the other groups turn into just title bars as previously reported. The group (to be moved) must then be moved around ABOVE all the title bars. As y
Running Windows 10 Pro latest. Found a bug with Windows 11 style Start Menu Set Windows 11 style. Press Windows key -> Windows 11 Start Menu (Does it really look that awful or Have I got it wrongly set up?) Press Windows key again - correctly goes back to the Windows desktop. PROBLEM: Again, press Windows key -> Windows 11 Start Menu Go to All Apps. Now the Windows key does not work. Click 'back' a few times (it does not work 1st time)<br
Start 11 version 0.91. Using the W10 style start menu it is not possible to drag a group to a new location. If I try to drag a group then all the groups change to just the title and some, not all, of their icons. Layout is restored on releasing the mouse button.
