This was a bug in Gal Civ 1 as well. When you load a save game, all influence that you gained from the previous game is lost, so you start from scratch. My guess is that is what happened with them, and since you had more influence starbases, you won the battle. I was hoping that they would fix that for this game. I hated bartering for influence just to lose it when i had to quit the game...

I agree that this game is much easier at normal that I expected. But then I went back and played GC1 recently and found that it was a much easier game than I remember as well. I think the biggest thing is learning the interfaces, and some good initial strategies. Even intellegent enemies are beatable now, and I remember have a real tough time with even average enemies in GC1...

They probably build specialized research planets. I have the opposite problem (Though I don't consider it a problem), and that is that i do a much better job of utilizing my planets than the computer, so I always have more research, manufacturing, and money than they do. But it is best to specialize planets for each of these. Make sure you add plenty of entertainment networks to high population planets, adding marketplaces works well with this to get a planet to specialize in producing money.

I have been playing through the campaign, and I think I am on the last map (I just finished of fthe Dread Lords on the previous map), but I have found that there are no cut scenes in the game. (Like GC1 had when you conquered a world, or colonized the first planet.) Is this just because I am playing the campaign, or is there something wrong with the Multimedia pack that I have downloaded?

One strategy to use against the dread lords is to let them take one of your colonies, then immediately invade it and take it back (They aren't very quick to defend planets that they take.) This way you can steal some of their technology, to build better ships. Also, build large fleets with a lot of attack power combined - this helps because the Dread Lords will not build fleets at all, so when you attack, all of your ships will attack the one Dread Lord ship before he can counter. You can def

Once all anamolies are done, yes, because a survey vessel's pretty useless. Anomalies do spawn throughout the game. They also disapear if you don't grab them fast enough. It may be best to keep one Survey Ship to grab these extra anomalies that show up.

I have had the same problem. I gifted the ship right next to their planet, and they still did nothing with it. (What sucked was that I could have used it the next turn, but oh well...)

If you get a crash when the game saves, PLEASE PLEASE send us the debug.err along with using Smart Exception to send us the info it has (Smart Exception can be found in the "Free stuff" area in Stardock Central). It is posted now: Link

I agree that the AI needs to build more farms. I always have the best economy, because I have the largest population. I can avoid low morale easy enough, because I can lower the taxes to a rediculously low amount and get by, plus I can buy entertainment networks and the like. Even so, I am enjoying the one advantage I have, and not all AI's need to go after large populations; since it seems most players don't like to go that route; but a few should.

I'll send the file when I get a chance. (I have three very small children, so I don't get much opportunity to use the computer.) Ho

Mine generally only crashes when I save the game. About every 4 saves or so, it crashes. Since it takes a half hour to load up an old saved game, that gets pretty annoying; but I hope this new patch will fix that. If you let me know where the error log is, I will e-mail that to you if you want.

How do you get +70 racial to diplomacy? The max is +60. You just give yourself the +50 bonus, and pick the Populous (sp?) party for an additional +20 bonus.

I have updated a ship design a few times, and I am trying to delete the old inefficient designs, but I can't figure out how. I saved over them when I made the new ones, but they keep showing up in the "quick build" screen. I can't find them in the regular build screen where the delete option is. In addition, whenever I buy the ship, I get the old design that i don't want anyway. I can't buy the new one at all. I can't figure out why. Please help.
