How do you delete old versions of a ship?

I have updated a ship design a few times, and I am trying to delete the old inefficient designs, but I can't figure out how. I saved over them when I made the new ones, but they keep showing up in the "quick build" screen. I can't find them in the regular build screen where the delete option is. In addition, whenever I buy the ship, I get the old design that i don't want anyway. I can't buy the new one at all. I can't figure out why. Please help.

I have this problem too. It appears that there's a bug with "Upgrading" a ship design. The old design gets overwritten fine, but they still appear in the quick build screen and you can't obsolete them because they've been overwritten.

AFAIK if you go to the ship design screen and select a ship and press Delete (as long as its user made) it will be gone for good. Updating designs seems to be buggy at the moment i suggest you stay away from it.

Thanks for the response. I'll try to find the XML files and delete those. Hopefully that will work.

When you upgrade a ship it keeps it's old name. So updating a "Cruiser 1" to a "Cruiser 2" will update its specs but not its name. This could lead to confusion. For me it's an annoyance.
