I too my friend glad all here on this forum share that passion !

Absolutely, It just shows you how advanced the game was, they did have this in SC2 and my bet is that all other games that followed copied this aspect. Star control just made it more realistic as you had to find the technology first which was part of the adventure ! Bring it back home to be "decrypted" decoded and then be able to reproduce and implement it. i remember bringing technology to home base and that the starbase commander would let me know when the technology was res
The only aspect that can be kept is the starmap, aiming your trajectory on the map and let the vindicator travel to the star system selected autonomously, of course, the vindicator can be taken control of at will by simply moving it manually with keyboard input. If the landers/harvesters would have caryalls, those caryalls should be manually controlled as well. As for fighting, Nothing should interfere with being in the "moment" having no other choice but to fight it out one on one or
For the love of the game NO ! Countless of times we have mentioned why Star Control will not be a strategy game nor have strategy aspects ! There are 1000s of strategy games to choose from, go play them, star control has unique elements that no rts game can provide, change that and you have lost the spirit of what fuels the soul of Star Control, i would hate to have my ships fight autonomously, I really liked the challenge of fighting multiple ships one at a time, it honed my skills to be a b
[quote who="Meleemike" reply="129" id="3593762"] Hopefully, they will implement a "starship creator" or "starship design" where you can use your imagination and build a ship from scratch. Like maybe you can buy a ship that starts out with 4-6 crew and as you use your credits or RU's to upgrade your ship, it could improve over time. Maybe buy crew pods that increases your crew capacity or turning jets, etc. (similar to what you
The first thing we ever did when i visited my best friend back in school in the early 90s is go play SC2 Melee against each other, we would play for hours on end as the ships and aliens occupying them was so intriguing, and seeing them actually press buttons and pull levers inside their ships, each with it's own special abilities and so well balanced add to the fact that you are constantly moving, sometimes by choice, sometimes not, bumping into asteroids, the center planet pulling you tow
The time limit if implemented would have to be carefully done, i don't want a time limit exploring the whole universe, then how'd we be able to explore the whole universe and all the planets, There will be surprises, wonders, hidden treasures, strange phenomena entering certain galaxies and on planets so all needs to be explored ! Perhaps there could be a time limit to reach certain goals and thereafter no time limit so the quest can be completed and the whole universe explored.
i agree lets keep it on track, the topic was not brought up by myself, now lets stay on topic.

[quote who="Rhonin_the_wizard" reply="99" id="3593133"] Quoting Meleemike, reply 98 Because #1, although pc games have extraordinary graphics, most play games in today's world on a gaming system. Any facts to back this up? There are more Steam active users than owners of PS4+X1 put together.<br
Probably just pc, the way it should be, as this game will be requiring a pc's abilities as it is far from just an arcade game, it has a huge quest factor, new graphics a MUST, they could perhaps do a melee on the xbox,ps, for the arcade part, the space pirates and zombie game have a couple of good ideas (just don't like the name), but looks good. however like i say, only ideas for the arcade part, changing it and making it feel like star control, blending in with all other factors see
Agree i liked to use all the ships, having the vindicator with powerful cannons was great too, i could choose whatever i liked whenever to combat whichever race, and the vindicator was always there to fight the last battle when my other ships were blown to smithereens in really intense battles.
[quote who="bum783" reply="81" id="3592486"] I think the point many of you are missing is the laziness of the idea itself. Stardock is stuck with a dilemma, how do you make a video game that can be apart of the Star Control franchise. BUT you cant use any of the already established lore, or characters. Their solution of a cataclysmic event in the past that creates an alternate timeline is NOT creative, its NOT original, and therefore it is NOT Star Control. What abo

WRT to an outpost, guys i think you slightly misunderstood, this is not an rts game and, please i don't want it to be one either, otherwise it won't be star control, i totally agree with that, i don't want to click and point, i want to steer my landers/rovers on the planet myself, what i'm saying is just let there be a place where the landers can go to for repairs, so that you can explore even further on the planet, i want to feel the conditions on the planet, and the cr

That sounds Good Frogboy, Star Control is a game that was created out of passion, a type of passion that hits the inner most of all human explorers and the type that wants to explore the mysterious vastness of the universe. What better way to capture true human adventure than to explore the universe and it's wonders, along with the unique technology that allows for it. I know it's a sensitive matter wrt to the legal rights issue, and i fully support your respect towards TFB

Whatever you do, DO keep the arcade style combat ! ! Without it you might as well drop the game as this is where the different ships you built acquired/upgraded gets to show what they can do, it allowed for an atmosphere where you are placed right on the spot in realtime !, and if you win the reward could be game altering, the same with if you lose, all the modules you added to your ship, the extra fighters the distance you travelled. will be put to the test in battle ! Melee style ! Th
Wrt a 3d map, i dont know i like the sc 2 2d map, you can see everything at a glance, 3d map i can imagine will give you a limited overall perspective and take away the feel of where you are currently at, and how far you will be travelling towards that distant planet, the map is very much part of the overall experience on the vast distances in space and created that atmosphere in SC2. Except if you mean 3d as in a rts game where the objects are 3d, but you can still see everything on
