No spam fuel depots, 1 or 2 places depending on how big the starmap will be will be enough it has to be kept as in sc2. The cost of being in space and needing to think about where to go next considering your fuel quantities added to the realism of being far out in space and having to rely on your judgement to make it to that far out system and back and if succesful the reward is always satisfactory. Spam depots and it would be non exciting, just as seeing exactly what goes on

That is Proudly played Dune 2. And you are not far off the mark. Dune 2 is very much engraved in my gene's so it's easy to leak some memories in that era over to a lot of other games without realising it. [e digicons]|-)[/e] I played almost every other rts after that, so that helped me paint a vivid picture of what has been lost, what has been gained in the genre and what is lacking which i think many also share. i think if you haven't played dune2, you won't have a t
Very true [e digicons]|-)[/e] didn't think about it that way, my post refers to Star Control 2. The music and sound was art on it's own.
Just to clarify, i hold Stardock up in the same light as Blizzard, it is just an example that came up in my mind while replying. Back then i actually always favoured Westwood above Blizzard as firstly i liked the realism and current semi future like setting. i liked the way Westwood immersed you into the gameplay with clear environments and not too much clutter. i liked the units, buildings, music, sound effects, technology, and finer details for example something that would se
i'll give it a shot. 1: There was a discussion a while back and it was mainly confirmed that it will come out on PC for one would not be able to fully utilize and experience the game on console based platforms. 2:It seems like it will come out this year, however i'd like them not to rush the game, so they can pay attention to the finer details. 3: Personally i would not like to design my own ship as i feel the quality on authenticity should be left for develope
i totally agree with you, my opinion on planets, and travel has been voiced numerious times in other threads here, and yes i would also like to harvest actual elements the whole mario kart idea just seems like you are set on a certain path and cannot really explore the planet and be immersed into it. The only thing it would not agree with you is the size of the planets, i like the size they made them out to be, however the cartoony spikey style kills the realism, the sun like star was
Good interview, just not 100% happy with the mario kart style planet scouting, it's like you are forced to follow a certain path where as i'd like to explore the planet on my own time and go my own way, and it's too much first person view, it should be more like a dune or c&c rts game which immerse you into the whole reality of the planet, i remember a scene from command & conquer tiberian sun, where the mission was to secure a ship that went down, the atmosphere was elect
it was a good interview, i'm however not too fond of the mario kart idea, i was expecting it to be rts style 3rd person view.

One thing they should remember is to keep the physics real, they shouldn't spoonfeed us the planets once we're in a planet system, we have to navigate our way towards the planet (work for it, fight the elements, gravity rocks, asteroids like in SC2.) Spoonfeeding the planets by auto navigation would make it non-rewarding, in hyperspace, you should have the option to let autopilot take you to your destination BUT no trickery, no speed cheating, no instant zip, the speed must st
Have you read my post ? https://forums.stardock.com/481126/page/1/#3662320 My concerns is the same as yours, what gave Star Control Depth, realism and immersiveness was the realism, the touch of comical aspects made it funny and were welcome, but there is a fine balance that needs to be walked, basing a lot of aspects on a comical world is definately going to alienate the game and make it feel to not be a star co

Will the game be one on one battles in the in game and melee fights ? I'm starting to worry as i've seen a demo in 2014 showing swarm type battles that feels very much alienated to star control 's immersive one on one battles. With each ship's unique abilities and each ship's uniquely detailed exciting weaponry, The ships in the 2014 demo also lacked detail and character, just spammed 100s of ships looking the same, the main ship standing stationary which i'm n
I just revisited the video don't get me wrong it all looks good except the planets need to be all real, not just a few, then the planet on the surface does not look to bad, its good but it is not immersive, too little detail, i felt somewhat disconnected, it should be more vast and have a feel of more realism and danger, i want to feel the weather see the lakes, i liked the valley to the left however more detail, one must think about, what would it feel like if we go to Titan at Satu

Star control 2 had a lot in common with realism, that's part of what gave it depth, wonder and excitement, yes of course there was comical aspects ,most notably the aliens, but the rest was very much inline with realism, i don't want to play in a comic world with comic planets. i don't mind the aliens being what they are, it's perfect, and what they have done so far with the aliens is also perfect ! I Love the ships. HOWEVER, one thing that set star control apa
When i was looking at the SCO trailer a while back, it seems that 2 different type of planets was used in the solar systems. Real like planets and Comical type planets, now this was discussed very early in the forum and i recall most agreed that we'd like to keep it realistic, as comical planets don't mend well with a star control game, my question, will real like planets be used or comical planets ? The problem i have with comical planets is that first it gives a feel
When will we get a sneak peak at SCO hyperspace travel.... The first time i went into hyperspace in SC2 leaving sol was really exhilarating ! Knowing you are now out in vast open unexplored territory, the dangers, the Vastness, the Visuals, The Travel as the stars pass by, the awesome Soundtrack, i want to relive that !! And see the Starmap !

From what I understand, they were unable to reacquire the necessary rights. Has Stardock reached out

[quote who="ASADDF" reply="3" id="3658475"] Quoting SchismNavigator, reply 1 This is not a real-time strategy game. It's closer to an adventure game. I recommend playing Star Control 2 Ur-Quan Masters. You can get an open source version of the game from here .
