Still, it would be nice if anyone could tell me where the original picture is stored in v1.20? EDIT: It's a copyright thing?
I also would like to know where the image of the good start button is located. I've ripped the previous version of start8 to shreds, and I still can't find the image. Stardock will just tell you to talk to the hand if you ask why it is gone. It is pr

Does anyone know how to download older versions of start8? The "My Downloads" section only shows one version. Also, which version number was the last to have the good start button? Is such version 8.1 compatible? I know some people have referred to replacement images, but they are not quite the same as the good button that was the default for start8 before they ruined it. It may sound silly, but that good start button was the primary deciding factor for my purchase of
I'm guessing that microsoft yelled at stardock about the logo thing being their property or trademark or some such thing that would involve lawyers if stardock didn't drop it.
That is the way it goes with this software. It is not enthusiast (people who re-install OS often) friendly. Stardock won't change their method. All they need to do is what microsoft does - take some hardware measurements so that they know re-installs are to the same machine. I'm out way more money than you. What is worse, I complained through my credit card but my claim was denied. Stardock told me essentially to talk to the hand. What a r
Is it within the policy to issue refunds for customers who didn't realize how frustrating the activation process would be in practice and don't want to deal with it anymore? I realize that $5 is a small amount but I've purchased it over again (on other email accounts) seven times, all for the same machine. And also three Modern Mix purchases too - again - all for just one machine. So, that is over $40. Maybe a partial refund since some of the purchases
The activation issue is a mess. The method they use is a mess. The fact that it takes them days to fix each request is a mess. And clogging up the technical forums with activation questions is a mess. Start8 uses the MachineName and MachineSID as identifiers for activation. The latter changes with every windows installation, even to the same exact machine. So, if you re-install windows a lot to the same machine, you're better off to do one installation, and then image
