There is a 2.09.1 beta update available from the account page on the store or from https://stardock.cachefly.net/ObjectDock_2.09_beta_setup.exe. This fixes the onSameMonitor crash. The "start button" on ObjectDock 2.1's beta will pull up Start8's start menu (if Start8 is installed). Kris
Will the "start button" on ObjectDock 2.1 betas (and final when available) also pull up any of the o
The best advice would be to get rid of Norton. Just use Windows Defender.
Completely disagree: Not only is that not the best advice, possibly not even good advice. Norton Internet Security is among the top three or five anti-malware products on the market. However I agree with Neil, in that it can be over zealous in its attempt to protect users from files not yet known or given the green light by its collective of us

Just a friendly reminder. . . For those ObjectDock users, who have not yet done so, if experiencing glitches, errors, faults, general weirdness in behaviour, or outright bugs, remember not only to post in this forum, or settle for a work-around (as good as they may be, if available), but additionally submit an official report/ticket via Stardock Support webpage , and each time a ticket is submitted to also include a

Hi DeadlyDaddio, Quite a rant. [e digicons]^_^[/e] I hear you. Perhaps MS is trying to become more Borg-like (from star trek sfi-fy): "we are one." One, in that Microsoft is making more of it's software "poke me" or "touch me" (creepy) tile based, regardless of what hardware it is running on, and regardless of what all their user-base may have wanted (and of course it would have been easy enough to please more of their user-base, but various options and choice were
Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find a answer. When is Objectdock coming out for Windows 8? But hopefully - should an update come - it will offer more than that. And not everyone

@ mail2rubinder, You can try Skip Metro Suite , and just enable the Drag-to-Close (hand) box (uncheck all other boxes); and see if Start8 and it plays well together. If they do you're good to go, and if not, then uncheck *all* of Skip Metro Suite boxes, click on its Save Settings, exit it, and delete the program if you have no further need of it. regards, Laurence

Hi there, I have not yet downloaded ModernMix, but have a couple of questions: I read that ModernMix can "Pin modern apps to the taskbar" which is good; can it also 'Pin modern apps to the desktop' which would also be good? And once the modern app is closed, does the user remain on the desktop (or do they find themselves in the new Start Screen)? regards, Laurence

I am running Start8 v.1.12 beta on Windows 8 Pro (all Windows updates installed). I have done tested my hard drive for errors (none found), and have since done a full format of my computer's hard drive and installed Windows 8 Pro afresh. But I am still experiencing random Start8 menu lockups, freezes, or whatever the correct terminology might be: Start8 fails to respond and explorer.exe restarts. Sometimes when I press the keyboard's Win key, Start8 locks up/freezes, a
We were able to reproduce a crash though it took a great deal of seaches to trigger it here (500+ rapidly done) and have made changes which may help. No doubt achievable. But at what time and cost to do so I wonder. Perhaps Stardock could add a Pro, or Plus, or Enhanced, or Ultimate, or Special, or Edition to their pay-for programs stable, and of course charge more for this extra functionality. All this is assuming that there would actually be sufficient demand for same. regards, Laurence

To hope or not to hope. . . ;-) I had written a short email to Stardock's Customer Care, (in part) as follows: "I am writing to enquire of Object Dock (at v2.0), last released in 2010: will there be any updates to it, hopefully fixing a few bugs and receiving a few tweaks, and making sure it is fully compatible with Windows 8?" And this is their reply: =================== "I believe a minor update is coming that addresses the crashing of t

@ Stardock Hi there, The last release for ObjectDock (v.2.0) was released in 2010: has all development stopped on it? Or can we expect an update, and if so, since folk have been ever so patient in waiting so long, how about giving us an approximate date for the next release? Sure wouldn't mind seeing it tweaked and tuned for Windows 8. One such request would be for it to have an optional setting that if checked would bypass the Modern/Metro start screen and land us

@ Neil, Do you think that with with all these additional enhancements and optional configuration settings being added (and honestly, indeed thank you for all improvements and bug fixes - two thumbs up), that it may necessitate there coming a time to do a re-think and re-design of Start8 configuration settings window(s), so as to bring order back to it? And in doing so possibly bring the separated configuration windows back under one roof? Or will things remain as they

Hi Neil, As you suggested, I have now disabled the Control Panel in Start8tweak, and will run it a awhile like that and see what happens. And if or when it occurs again, I'll disable another, etc.. As strange as it sounds, it is too bad that it occurs randomly on my machine; if it did act up each and every time, then we might have a much better chance to find and correct what's causing it. regards, Laurence
