Nice to see a new update in the works. I'll have to get back to playing. It would be really nice if GPG/Stardock could spin off a couple of 6-player, Cataract-size maps from a couple of the existing, less popular large maps (say, Brothers or Mandala).

I would actually be very surprised if there was any further content or updates, including patches. I believe that Stardock has moved on, and certainly GPG has. A shame really, since the core game and gameplay are quite good.

I think all items stack, regardless of whether they are the same type. Thus, you can have two or three types of gloves and get the benefits of each at the same time. Same goes for armors, helms, boots, etc.

I would advise new players to go and download Peppe's AI mod in the modding section. While it won't prepare you for a good human player, it can be as good as a decent player when set to hard or nightmare difficulty. Also, get one of the UI mods so that you can see the inventory of human and AI teammates. Having seen a lot of noobish behaviors online, I firmly believe that there are certain demigods that new players just shouldn't play online unless they are play

Since it's single player, there might be some easy way for you to hack the speed setting for the tournament. I would first check the game file that gets saved in your "My Documents" folder. Also, you might post your question in the modding forum.
But on a late-game Oak? What health or mana item are you giving up in order to reserve a slot for J-treads? Also, a late-game Oak shouldn't be doing much running from anyone. If he needs to get away fast, a shield-tp combo works nicely, not to mention surge of faith. you can't just keep running to portals and the shield / porting away. J-treads allow you to run to that portal, force the enemy to te

Dawn of War 2 (Chaos Rising): currently trying to mod the skirmish AI so that I won't get tired of this game after 2 weeks. Inevitably, I will be going back to DoW: Soulstorm (with Dawn of Skirmish AI mod) shortly. Fallout 3 (GotY edition): I need to get back to questing. I've been roaming the map to the east and must say that it's getting a bit stale, though the game seems put together well. I've probably kicked my Demigod addiction, especially since it
I also realize it depends on the dg, but there are certain purchases that I think are nearly universally valuable...the J.treads seem to me to be the best (after buying all of the creep upgrades). This is because at this point, staying power is negligible as any two should beat any one. With the boots you can get out of any bad situation and actually get to an opposing portal without a tp. I'm almost certain that there is an option for changing game speed, either in the main menu or team set-up menu. I would be surprised if this couldn't be applied to the tournament.

Unless I'm totally overestimating the usefullness of additional creeps, shouldn't the AI buy the extra help as soon as they are able?
What difficulty are you playing on? I play on nightmare, so the AI gets a significant cash bonus and always starts buying the creeps at warscore 8. Indeed, it is so r

Yeah, what synnworld said. Regarding hps, I've been in a couple of games where either a Rook or UB had at least 8K health (no sigils). I suppose that this involves taking BotF, purchasing the best health items (including an artifact or two), and reaching level 20. It is possible to do, but rare since most games don't go to level 20 or allow for that kind of extravagant spending. What demigod was your friend playing? I don't think that I have ever purchased Jour

I suspect these updates will actually never occur. Frogboy is confident he can make them happen, but the money just isn't there.
Yes, I believe that we are now playing the final version of the game (1.2). I would be very surprised if anything else is forthcoming.</
I was hoping of course there would be something new! Perhaps some new ideas, an expansion in the works, not perhaps too extravagant, maybe another demigod, or two, some new maps. Or updated tatics on the older dg's. Charge us whatever, but something new. This is a GOOD game.... Stardock and GPG need an expansion, charge me whatever you think is fair. It doesnt even have to be a big expansion, a moderate one or so, charge me $1

As has already been said, it's an issue of supply and demand. As long as there are people who have PC and have money to spend on games, there will be PC games available. My concern is similar to Is35a's: that is, PC gaming will be dominated by a few large companies (i.e., EA, Blizzard, Valve/Steam, etc.) who will drive smaller, independent developers out of the market and increasingly restrict access to games through draconian DRM systems. I believe that quality and hard wor

There was 1 time where an Eldar ally built an Avatar, but only 1 time.
I would suggest searching the DoW forums for the WA version the Dawn of Skirmish mod. It contains a challenging AI that builds everything in a rather intelligent way, including relic units.

On a more serious note, minions are good fodder and can soak up damage that would otherwise go directly to the demigod. If we are talking about idols, I don't believe that any general should be without monks early. The siege and melee idols are optional, but I would get them if gold is not an issue and I'm taking down towers or holding a lane. There is little more intimidating in a game than to see Erebus rounding the corner with a full set of idols and several night crawler
don't forget that on some maps, the standard ai doesn't even buy any items depending on the slot they are in. The original ai coding is MEH at best.
Yeah, I've seen this in replays. Quite a shame really. I've also seen the standard AI make some truly baffling purchases, like the Plate Visor or the Theurgist's Cap. When it does buy items, it appears to do so randomly.

Only play QoT, UB, and Erebus. Always go Cloak of Night with Queen and Blood with Erebus. I used to go Blood with UB, but have recently been playing with Dark Crimson Vial (DCV). This is quite a nice item. It gives 33% of your max health upon usage. Though that is less than a sigil (which gives 50%), it is like having a permanent sigil without using a consumable or inventory sl

I'd just like to watch and see how things pan out.
Probably not worthwhile. The standard AI would lose every time due to poor item selection, uncompetitve builds, failure to upgrade citadel properly, and a high death toll due to tower suicides. Peppe's mod is a vast improvement over the standard AI. Of course, even the modded A

I prefer expansions, but I don't have a problem with DLC. I just never buy it. Since I prefer boxed, retail versions of games, I just assume wait on an expansion, or even better, a "gold" or "game of the year" edition that combines all of the DLC and expansion (like Oblivion and Fallout 3 did, and Dragon Age probably will).

Just to add to what ShakeNBake and Epip said, Erebus is a great choice. Not sure if I would bother with Mist on a minion build. I would use that point on Mass Charm for interrupts. While Cloak of Night is an excellent favor item for most generals (esp. QoT or Sedna), skip it for Erebus in favor of something like BotF. Since Erebus has Bat Swarm, he doesn't need the Cloak. As Shake said, always get monks for generals at the start, even on non-minion builds. Oak
