If not, then it's a Wincustomize forum.[/quote] FYI, all Stardock sites see the Forum Issues forum, so it could have come from anywhere, including elementalgame.com, impulsedriven.com, or stardock.com. We use TinyMCE as our editor on the forums. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the iPad or any iOS device are supported by TinyMCE: "It's currently impossible for us to add iPhone/iPad support since WebKit on these devices lacks any form of caret within contentEditable areas." If there are enough people using iPads to post on the forums, I'll find an alternative solution. At the moment, there are very few doing
We are using Google for our search due to the amount of database load we may receive if we provided a direct site search. I'm not very happy with the Google search and want to find a more proper solution, but it will take a lot of time and planning to do it right. With that in mind, I wouldn't expect a proper solution in the near future, but I will spend some time on it to figure out at some point. In the meantime, if you know the Google operators you should be able
I plan on removing the referral system in the future. Seems kind of useless to me, especially for a forum. Bara
Another thing to try: clear out your temp files and cookies. We recently changed our cookie system slightly, but with the side effect that all existing cookies were considered to be invalid. It's possible that an existing cookie is affecting the new cookies. You can also try upgrading to the beta branch of Chrome and to Firefox 4 to see if that changes anything. I wouldn't recommend keeping them forever, just do it as a test then downgrade. Check to see what
I can't say I agree with an ignore user option either. You can easily just scroll past their posts. Not to mention the potential confusion if this feature is implemented. Bara
It's an issue with the server. If there is a lot of load, when the site hits the database to get the posts for a specific category, it times out. We've done a lot recently to help increase performance when there is a lot of load. See if it happens to you again in the upcoming betas. Bara

FYI: Due to a security concern we reset all cookies last night. You will be asked to login again for all of our sites. Nothing crazy, just a precaution :) As for the number of booms per day, the booms only occur at very specific times of the day (which coincide with various jobs that we run which calculate features for the forum and elsewhere, as well as to clean up the forum's indexes to keep it fast). So if you visit and get 5 booms, that doesn't mean others will b

The double and triple posting problem is resolved. Things should start to settle down now. And our database guy has found yet another database problem that may be causing lag and forum booms, so he is in the process of re-working it. Bara

Showing a user as being "online" when they visit a website doesn't mean much. The user can close the browser at any time and the database wouldn't know about it. Not to mention we'd have to have a call to the database on every single page to let it know that the user is still "online." I think I might just remove this feature entirely, as it's kind of useless (this is a forum with static content, not a chat with dynamic content). As for the male/female bit.
We are still seeing booms in our logs early in the morning and later in the afternoon. We are moving around some of our database jobs to try and resolve those. Unfortunately, some of these jobs are necessary for the operation of the forums and may take hours to run, so we can only do so much on that end. I'll keep you all updated of any more changes. Bara
