Multiple Program Launches From Taskbar Start11

Hi all,  experiencing a weird issue with Start11 software just recently

When any program icon is clicked on the taskbar multiple windows of that program will open.

I have  confirmed its Start11 by uninstalling  and it does not replicate,   reinstalled again to make sure the program was not corrupted and the issues resurfaces.
A tad wary of installing the update in case the issue is the same.

Start11 Version 1.55

Cheers

I have encountered the same problem.  Start11 essentially sees two instances of anything on the task bar, and if you move the icons, it may launch two different programs; the one you want plus the one that used to be in that position.  I solved the problem by turning off "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar."  That is, set the On/Off button to Off.  Then the task bar will operate as you would expect.  Definitely a problem with the latest version of Start11!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

If the same issue still appear, we need more details.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also, need its full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe to get these numbers.
  2. If you on Windows Pro, do the Sandbox test and see if the issue also appear while in the Sandbox? Refer here for guide: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1416855562/Testing+Start+in+Sandbox.

Thank you,

Basj,

Stardock Community  Assistant.

Hi mate,

The fix as suggested by Ted worked,  which leaves Start11 with no ability to change the  taskbar settings, which was a major plus.

Win11 Version 25H2 OS Build 26200.8737

Any fix in the works?

What version of Start11 are you using as the original post in this thread is about 1.55.  Start11 v2 is on 2.73 (beta)

Also what version of Windows 11 are you using? Is it an insider channel version?

I was imprecise in my previous post...  Here is what I'm using:

Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.8737

Stardock Software, Start11  Version 1.55

I am NOT using version 2

I tried turning back on the capability of Start11 to enhance the taskbar, but that simply reintroduced the problem.  So turned it off again.

OK... This is really frustrating!!  I just paid for an upgrade to Start11 Version 2.72, and it STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM!!

How do we get some software support??

OK...  I posted that too soon.   I had to reboot my computer after installation.  So it appears that version 2.72 has now solved the problem of launching multiple instances of programs pinned to the taskbar.  May be worth the price of the upgrade... Maybe.  But I'm concerned that we have to pay for a bug fix.

Yes always reboot after an upgrade.

This issue seems to be new to the preview update of Windows you have installed (thats the July 2026 update).

Based on the information we plan to get an update out there for 1.x series before this is released officially on Patch Tuesday.

Thanks Neil,

Can you post on here when the  update is released for the 1.x series so we can revert back to normal service.

Thanks again.
