Okay, I admit it!!!, I usually play on the easier levels but seriously, I have had this happen all the way up to the normal difficulty level. I honestly haven't dabbled into anything harder than normal, since I had major issues with this game running properly(didn't want to get into a major game and have a crash!)But things have been running great(knock on wood)so far so it is now time to up the diff. But yes, this war thing happens to me from cakewalk up to normal. Don't know after that. Sorry

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them: For some reason the AI declares war on me, at what point in the game is irrelevant since it happens all throughout the game, but doesn't have a single attack ship of any kind. It's actually beneficial from what I can tell because if someone declares war on me, I just sit and wait. After a while they offer a peace treaty, which I accept. A few turns later one or two, and I've even had three, other civs offer me cold hard credits in admiration of my be

At the moment, once you have the biggest military you generally just get left alone unless you start something. Usually true but I have had a couple of games where the AI decides that I am just too evil to let my civ run amok through the universe. The next thing I know, war has been declared. In fact, more often than not, that is the way it happe

I tend to go for anything that improves my military and research. The population growth is okay, but I find it hard to keep em all happy all the time. No need for me to waste the early stages trying to keep everyone happy. I raise my taxes just till my approval goes red and then back it off until it turns yellow. My priority at this early point is planet/resource/anomaly grabbing. I always control what my survey ship is doing, never auto search. Then I buy as many colony ships as I can, although

I'd rather see weapon mount sizes come into play for tactical reasons and the size of the hull being factored in for how easily they can be hit before carriers get involved (which would likely be something to consider for a GalCiv3). Since you really seem to be into the "tactical" thing quite a bit, I was wondering if you have worked out any pos

My question to all of this is why do the devs keep changing the numbers? A stock market should be what it is, period. Just like the virtual reality centers, and zero g stadiums, their numbers should have been set and then never changed since. I understand that maybe through playtesting things change since you get to see what actually happens in real time. But cmon, if you were sitting down to make a game and trying to decide on the numbers for buildings, wouldn't you pretty much come up with the

guess you could create a ship line that you only produce on that one planet, like 'Pir Small' or 'Pir Med' etc I think that's the ticket RolendDT! Good luck.

Using thread titles like "I WANT MY AIRCRAFT CARRIER NOW!!!11!!1!ONE!" (slight exaggeration from my side) draws a certain attention, you know. Shouting around and demanding things usually doesn't make things better, quite the contrary. If you are referring to my post title, sorry e-stab. It was a "joke" of a title per say, but then I forget that

can you rename ships? Yes, but not individually as far as I know. And my example was all encompassing. If you get a pirate "bonus" for your ships built on a particular planet, just rename the planet something that will remind you of that bonus, nuff said?

15 Replies 10,820 Views

You generally don't have the luxury of only producing ships from a single planet and that's assuming you even happen to remember later in the game which planet it was that has this benefit. Try renaming the planet in reference to whatever it applies to, like, Academia or something stupid for a planet that mainly conducts research, etc.

Or maybe I'm too logical a thinker for this game. See the key word there is "game". It is just a game. Not a Navy training sim!.

Not a good idea. The tech tree is long enough. If anything, give some bonuses for completing the tech tree. I hate that after I pretty much research everything I want, my discovery sphere's are pretty much useless to me. Someone posted before about this, like maybe giving some sort of reward for having a research building beyond the typical research bonus. At that point in the game, you might as well demolish any research facilities you might have as all they do is cost maintenance, and on a gig

I always did prefer the hex system but that probably comes from growing up with the old Avalon Hill board games like Afrika Korps and Midway Heyyyyyyyyy, Afrika Corps rules. I myself have squad leader. Tried to sell it on Ebay once and I think it was up around two hundred or so. Didn't sell. Nostaligic I guess, but no one I know knows how to play

Not sure what you're getting at with this. In the shipyard you can adjust the slider to minimize or maximize the size of the object you are placing. Also through trial and error just pissing around and building things, I've found that there are some ship builds that if done "right", will have a hardpoint or two that will seem to be "hidden". If you place a weapon and minimize it some, then add another component or piece of jewelry, you can in essence "hide" the weapon from view. Like I said, thi

The patched version is not only to fix bugs in the basic form of the game but also to use as a vehicle to alter the game from its current state, I agree Quixen, what I mean though is the game should be thoroughly play tested to insure the most accurate operation of the game. I enjoy the fact that the devs try to appease the players. I don't enjoy

Thanks for the tip e-stab. Seems alot of us have had a prob or two trying to download or purchase games. Persistence is a virtue!

13 Replies 5,239 Views

And as an aside to that, if the dev's start offering download only games, that isn't fair to those of us who don't really want to have internet connections. Right now all I have available in my area is dial up and we all know how fast that is, sheesh. So to me, to buy the game retail, and not have to troll online to see if there are updates, (of which this game has zillions), is like a godsend. And from what I know about the upcoming expansion, it is only going to be available via download once

patche versions = good, retail versions = bad. This should definitely be the other way around!

For the last time: this cannot be modded. I DO know what I'm talking about. And I say never, especially when I know I'm right. Not talking mods silly one, adding it to the code, ya know!

Forty one replies, not counting my own two or three, wow. Sorry all, I never saw a thread on spaceship carriers, nor knew of anyone else wanting them. To those of you who say never, I say never say never. And to those who don't even like the idea, pooey on you. There seems to be more people for the idea than against although you wouldn't know that to read it here. Maybe someone who knows how to mod could be able to help. This game could have so much more, some good, some bad, but nonetheless, mu
