GAME CRASHES, CONT. in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Once again I find myself at an impass if you would call it that,,,, this darned game still gives me problems. Drivers are updated, I updated everything I could, twice!! Raised what I think is my virtual memory (btw, how many meg's in a gig?) and now I am keeping my fingers crossed. My crashed now seem to occur when I go to save a game. The program will just shut down as soon as I click on save. I don't use quick save, so I don't know if this matters. But when I start up the game again, the sa

I read about the AMD Athlon processor and wanted to know is there more than one version? I didn't see anywhere where it said that my processor is a dual core. Are all AMD Athlon's dual core or only the ones that have it designated in the title? Please, if anyone knows, reply to my post as I have crappy dial up service and any downloads over one "micromicrobit" takes about fifty thousand hours!!!

It seems to me that despite different technology when it comes to your "choice" screens, i.e., will you take a penalty, do nothing and take a smaller penalty, or do the "wrong" thing and get bonuses, that is where evil truly wins. The game designers didn't seem to include anything on these screens that benefits anything other than ambivalence and malice when it comes to treating other species with respect when colonizing a new planet. Maybe if the developers applied some bonuses for not meddling

So what exactly are you all saying with regards to ferrying people to planets? Is that not what a colony ship is for? I mean do you really just start making special designs just for ferrys? I could understand adding engines to increase speed but that's about it. Kind of a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyways. What exactly do bonus resource tiles do? Is the bonus universal to your civ or is it only for the planet in question. I assume it is planetwide only, therefore how is the bonus, i.e., research or production multiplied or assessed or whatever happens? What does the 300% manufacturing bonus imply? 300% of what?

HOME PLANET in Game Talk GalCiv2 Forums

Just wanted to know why a player's starting planet has a 10 rating. Is there any way to change this? I constantly quit and start a new game again and again so that my home planet can have at least a few resource bonus tiles, thus better defining what a player's home planet would, or at least should, be like. Kinda like an "uber planet" if you will. I really don't want to go into the game files and have to modify things just for this, and I think that moving your homeworld to another planet later

Aside from the fact that my game still randomly crashes, I love this game!!!! Kinda crazy huh? Anyhoo, just wanted to know, do they have an actual live chat room available to us? Anyone? And really, more important, when will the expansion be available? Why can't I download the latest beta patch? Where is it? I looked at stardock.com and stardock central and still couldn't find it. Any help?

If anyone could please address this issue for me, maybe with a little more possible solutions. I've tried everything else, including raising my virtual memory. Nothing works. Sometimes it crashes immediately, sometimes longer in the game, sometimes not at all. Also, I noticed that when uninstalling the game and reinstalling the game, my last saved game was still there. I deleted all of the known stardock folders off my hard drive but the file was somehow still there. Hidden maybe? If so WHERE?<b

I just want to know why at certain stages my game will just crash. At first I thought it was autosave so I turned it off. Big mistake. Then I tried disk cleanup and defrag before every game session. Sometimes it worked and other times it didn't. The game still crashed. My machine is totally up to date, at least for today's standards. My drivers are all updated and my nvidia is the top of the line, 6180 or 6680, something like that. What's going on with an otherwise awesome game?
