Oh, and thanks for the reply there Purge. I'm trying to get specs together, that's all.

Aww, an interesting change you made to your system, one that after making the change, you have had less problems...Mixing memory is always a good way to cause CTD. Hey, an unsolicited comment from a fraktard! Well, to answer you anyways, the change was more than documented by me on this forum, and the reason I made the change was due to CTD's, so I figured more RAM, less chances of CTD. Therefore, the upgrade was a result of trying to fix the issue. I tri
Judging from the lack of response, I guess no one really cares about this eh?
Shut your piehole fraktard and get a sense of what life is about! and you can kindly place them as far up your rectal cavity as allows! Sorry in advance Kryo...... Now see, we wouldn't have these 'communication' problems if Wheeloffire wasn't banned from this forum, now would we?
about a meg at a clip, until getting up to over 2000 MB's before capping off I meant to say back to 1700 or so. Used to be over 2000 when I was running with 3GB of RAM, but I've since removed one gig because it was actually two 512k sticks instead of a one gig stick (plus I wasn't comfortable running OCZ RAM with factory shipped Samsung RAM, even though the cas latency's were the same, the specs were totally different otherwise). Plus, for some reason,
because after about 3 hours of playing I have to restart the game because of a CTD. Has anyone read anything with regards to this issue? As I've stated elsewhere, the RAM use still seems erratic, and unless using a program that will 'free' the RAM up, the CTD seems most inevitable. I've still seen the typical example of starting up the game with about 1700 MB's available. On a medium, all abundant galaxy, just loading a new game uses up to 500 MB's. Dur
I think Hugo Chevez is a real dictator. Hugo Chavez is a great leader, a man of the people and for the people. He uses the same strong armed tactics that the Capitalist pigs which run our country use, but since 'he' does it this makes him a 'bad' man. What's wrong with forcibly taking back some of the wealth that was generated by the people and giving it back to them? In my eyes, nothing at all. Anyone who legitimately wants to help the poor people has
One of my anti rants is Jon Stewart, Daily show. He's my light at the ranting tunnels end. Marcus PS, even though I'm a Brit he's my light, lol I used to LOVE the Daily Show... tuned in nightly for about two and a half years solid. Then Jon interviewed good 'ole Henry Kissinger, Madeline Albright, and Senator John McCain. Now normally, Jon would've done his usual bit and put them 'under the gun' regarding certain 'international dip
Nope, just thumbing our noses at our southern neighbours! *prods all Americans in a 5 foot radius* Now that could be considered just grounds for a 'pre-emptive' strike...
How the heck do i uninstall this RAM Buggy beta without also deleting the darn game? If you got the game via download, you should have archived it on SDC. If so, just restore said archive. As far as being 'RAM buggy', this beta still seems to have it's quirks. I played for a while over the weekend on a medium, all abundant, all majors/minors game. RAM use seemed a little strange still as it would suck up about 800mb's or so before seeming to 'hold'
I've downloaded the latest build and for a while I wasn't getting the out of memory errors, but now I seem to be getting them again:( What are your specs and game settings? Are you using a program to monitor your RAM use? If so, which one? Just curious Shabitz. Besides, it seems that we may be 'all alone' this weekend as the devs are actually enjoying some
My version of Dark Avatar is the 1.6 beta 4 version because Stardock Central updated my used copy to that (and without a serial code that works I can't get a good version). Your beta version is the problem. It was what 'introduced' the corrupted, spiked graphics so your system should be okay. The newest beta build at SDC corrects these issues as well as a few others. Go to SDC and update the game... once you have the proper codes I guess, of course. <im
Here we are people, the first 'official' holiday of the summer! I am happy as hell that I get to have a three day weekend, especially after the seemingly unending winter we had here in the Ohio Valley (wasn't a lot of snow, but the temps were just too cold for too long IMO). So everyone have a great weekend and enjoy yourselves... within reason of course! Remember, the cops don't need your money as much
I've noticed that when my survey ship goes thru a wormhole and ends up out of range, I have to remember to move the ship each turn until it's back within range. To avoid having to use this 'painful' method just click on a spot within your 'territory' on the minimap and your ship will autopilot itself all the way home.
and make the emphasis on developing the tech to build the better factories, labs, etc. After re-reading this I thought I should mention, for those who would say "how can you emphasize tech research if you 'don't' have the lab to do it with", to go this way one would obviously have to start the game with some sort of basic research facility/ies to get the ball rolling. From there it would just depend on 'what' you wish to research vs. how much can be all
This thread is truly fascinating! I'm going to throw one in here, with regards to 'buildings' of course. Why not eliminate sliders altogether and make the build the 'true value'. Let me explain... Have a few different levels of factories, as we do now of course, but make the production value what it is, period. The more factories, the more production values. Better, more advanced factories would obv
Hey Kryo, just a quick ? here. Cari didn't respond regarding what 'good' frame rates would be. I'd stated elsewhere that with the newest beta I'm getting 68 to 75 fps... is this what we should 'expect' to see or what? Just thought I'd ask as I am starting to actually get into more technical 'details' in a way...
I kind of figure the true cost of a decent game is about ten times it's actual value because that's usually how many games I have to buy and throw away before I find one worth playing. Well hell Mumblefratz, you can just send those 'junk' games my way! No need to waste valuable landfill space, right?
it downloads the whole thing and then gets stuck when it tries to remove the temporary files. I have tried this 4 or 5 times and always get the same result. I don't know how long you were waiting, but it does take a 'little' while. I know I had to walk away from the PC last night for about twenty minutes or so. When I came back it had finally updated. Try it if you didn't wait more than five minutes and see if that works.
When gifting ships you have to 'bring' it to them before they can take control, as was stated, it was probably out of their range. If you park it right next to their planet though, they will use it pretty much immediately.
Updated to the newest beta last night... finally... and everything seems sorted out. I like the ability to look at the framerate, thanks Cari , and on a medium map with all abundant, all majors/minors I took a little 'test drive'. Even though I've turned down some of the graphics settings as per advice here, the frame rate seems pretty good, holding around 75 and never really dipping below 68. Now I'm no
Is SDC actually logging in? I know you had an issue with that before. Well I had fixed those prior issues and even as of yesterday when logging on to SDC everything was fine. Tonight however, I log on fine but it doesn't show any of my games. When I go to restore archive, all that is there is the heightmaps folder, which upon trying to restore, I get the microsoft error message/debug, but the debug is total gibberish, even with smartexception on. Tried
See, you don't have to use the word "cheating" to get your point across (who would've thought I'd be holding up Evil S as a model of decorum). Et tu Mumblefratz? I know I have my 'moments', ahem, but that doesn't mean that I'm a stark raving mad lunatic... does it?
Everyone who had this issue, please try the 1.6 beta 5 update now on SDC. Hey Kryo, went to SDC but it doesn't even show my games as being there. Is it something on my end or have I finally gotten 'The Ban'?
Well, despite not having the numbers game under my belt, I have to agree with the OP, but I also have to say that I think the way the AI conducts trade amongst 'itself' doesn't work 'fairly' towards the player. Regardless of what abilities, or lack thereof, the trades that the AI makes 'to itself' seem far more beneficial than anything 'offered' to me. With tech trading set on I often find that the AI has pretty much shared enough 'meaty' techs with itself that it becomes a big problem for
