Annoying girls can be fun cuz you have to give them something better to do with their mouth Of course you're refering to kissing them. Actually, all interesting women are annoying almost by definition. They're annoying because they have a mind of thei

I'd guess you at some point found your wife not annoying. Yes. Generally for about 15 minutes a week, sometimes even 20. Mostly joking here. I don't think he's Lord Pinko but you never know. I guess there will always be folks that for some reason or

We're talking about shadowmaster here. Don't overestimate him Actually, I had agreed with at least the first 9 steps of nova's "strategy". They were facetious in that they were an obvious statement of the normal progression of the game. However, even though sarcastic, they were a nice summary of the phases of the game and could even be helpful to the

You know another point about the metaverse is that if it didn't exist as an official part of the game administered by Stardock, it would still probably exist in some form of fan based underground format. In that context, there would be virtually no control over this and I'm sure true cheating would run rampant. This in turn would have a very negative effect on the game and could even ruin it. At least with it under Stardock control the most egregious offenses can be avoided. Hopefully,

Wow, you're hard core. I absolutely *hate* micromanagement. That's why I stick to tiny or small galaxies. Sure, you can't get as high of a score, but your turns can be short, and you can finish games in out sitting. I just don't have the patience for maps larger than medium, at least on higher difficulty levels where micromanaging every planet to its fullest potential

Yes. I'm pretty sure they know the ships that have been created. But they can easily tell the speed of an empires demise simply by the population curve which is something I'm sure they have ready access to. If a races pop went from normal growth to zero in one turn, it's pretty clear what happened. [edit] On second thought maybe it's not so clear. Maybe a bunch of planets were taken by influence or diplomacy. Could that be differentiated from just being conquered? Perhaps, but it's not

The one point about this is that you can't save a game in the middle of a turn. Hopefully with my new PC on the way my turns won't take as long as they used to, but I have had many turns that have taken 2 hours. I think the method nova proposed would work even if save was allowed at arbitrary points like quicksave. I don't think it's intrinsic to the algorithm that it can only save at end turn. What do you think? [edit] I think this should be in addition to the automatic save

anyone with the time/knowlege to write a program to beat it would probably rather beat the game straight-up. Security by obscurity Good idea. And it probably is best to leave the non-metaverse game alone. Going back and trying different things is the best way to quicky test out different strategies.

Sure there is. If you're at the www.galciv2.com page and have logged in there are three buttons at the top. These are My Posts, Watch List and My Account. Press the My Account button and from there you can do a bunch of things like edit your character or empire. There are also tabs to Update Images and Personal Information. If you click on the personal information tab, you'll need to enter your email and password and then you get to a screen where you can change your nickname,

So who was the bigger idiot? The guy who started the thread, the guy who agreed with the dumbass/sarcastic strategy, or the guy who wasted his time writing up that dumbass/sarcastic strategy? The guy that started the thread was a cheater as Wheel pointed out and Kryo confirmed. So I would go with the guy that started the thread. The guy that wasted h

But this stuff is impressive, especially the 20,000 RP planet. Mumblefratz ... Do you play on very slow tech rate? The 20,540 RP/week planet is FC's. The best I've done is only 11,000 RP/week on a single planet. But I did get over 81,000 RP/week from my top 32 research planets. I usually use slow tech with no trading.

I couldn't edit these and they might not be posted in the best resolution for viewing. Your best bet is to right click on the picture and "Save Picture As" to your own PC. That way you can read these in paint or whatever and zoom in a bit to see the detail. One other point I forgot to mention is that I did have the economic prosperity event pretty much throughout this whole game. Hope this helps out some folks.

Just for yuks here's a couple of sceenshots from the end of my last game. The first is the first page of my colony list sorted by research. The second is the first page of my colony list sorted by income. Keep in mind that this was at the end of a v1.31 game where I was evil and had 4 research resources and 6 economic resources. I've found thing's like this are extremely helpful in bettering my game. Just the fact that something is possible is sufficient. Everyone is smart enough to figure out h

It is the McDonalds. I 'acquired' this planet from the Arceans. I already had nano recorders, hyper computers, and the Omega research center. Omega had already been built or I would have scrapped the resturant (if you could) and built the Omega on this planet. 6 resources sounds about right. That's still the best planet that I've seen and for

They do accumulate/overlap. If you select multiple starbases by holding CTRL and dragging a box around them, you will see the areas that they affect light up, and any areas where they overlap will be brighter. Yes. Excellent information. Selecting multiple starbases is useful. I wonder if we can now select multiple ships/fleets in the same manne

Aiiee, I thought we had until late January to get a decent XP box. Here's hoping Microsoft will let a few OEMs keep some XP Pro machines around for a while... I don't think you need to worry too much for a bit, but I wouldn't wait too long. Right now they're still bundled with XP Pro or XP Media Center (not even sure what this is exactly). But I woul

I said STATS screen when I meant COLONIES screen I figured that was what you meant. But, yes if "c" doesn't work then I know of no way to go directly from the planet screen to the main screen centered on the planet. Sorry. If I'm trying to do this (and I do) I will leave the planet that I want to center on as the last one I go to fr

Unlike this forum, there seem to be few people on that board willing to try to rein in the trolls. I look at the same sentence and read it as a (perhaps backhanded) compliment. Maybe it's a glass half full vs. half empty kind of thing. I read it as meaning there are folks here that try to "rein the trolls" and there are very few such folks there.

Your forgetting the techs that let you change your gov't type from dicatorship to varying levels of democracy boosting your economy by 25%, 50%, or 75! This is 10%, 20% or 30% and has been for some time. The documentation in the government screen wasn't changed to reflect this until v1.3. But, yes of course, these are a good source of economic bonus.
