You could always open up English.str and change the texts for all of the events. For example change 'Precursor' to 'Shadow' in the event you mentioned or rewrite the whole text for it. Do a search for [TABLEALIAS EventScreen] and you will find all of them. I don't know if it's possible to add, change or remove events though.

Altarians being conquered doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to be exterminated. The Arceans and Torians were conquered as well in the original campaign. The Torians also had their homeworld demolished by massive orbital bombardment. There has been some complaints in the past that none of the leaders (except the Thalans ) were female which is probably why SD took the opportunity to inc

NTJedi: If you weren't aware a basic funky Hotseat already works within the game with bad side effects. Using a debug cheat to change between the races every turn, which has the side effect that only the race that started the turn can move his ships, is not what I would call basic Hotseat functionality. Not to mention that when you end the turn

They were also massively expensive and left you open to attack (the Drengin blitzed the Arceans by taking over their Star Gates). That never happened. It was part of Brad's original story-manuscripts but it didn't happen in the game. IIRC, the story in the game is that the Drengin pretended to be a peaceful race when they got in contact w

Yes, that is kinda obvious with a name like 'Allow AI to use CPU-Intensive Algorithms'. My question was, what do the actual algorithms do? In what ways will the AI be more efficient/difficult? I would guess that having this option enabled increases the Metaverse score too?

I have a little question while were sorta on the topic. Why don't races have there own political partys? Why do all the races have Federalists "Economics +20" as there default political party pick? Why not have the Dregn for example have War Party? And the Torians be Technologists Ect. They do. The data on the 'Pick Your Civilization'-screen is onl

I wouldn't think so. CariElf said that they are imbalancing and won't be available unmodded, in answer to one of your posts in https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=345&AID=119197#924000

It changes the government info in the Civilization Manager so that it matches the actual bonus since advanced governments only give an economic bonus at the moment. Developers have said that the they aren't meant to give the other two bonuses but they haven't bothered to change the information about bonuses. English.str only effects text in the game, no bonuses, rules or anything else. I don't think it's possible to mod the governments, I haven't found them anywhere in the data-f

If the miniaturization worked logically (decreases space of components, doesn't increase hull space [ship size could still increase the size of some components]), there would be one major problem: 100% miniaturization. You can suddenly place an infinit amount of components on a ship. Every component has size 0. But this could be fixed with a miniaturization cap somewhere between 50 and 100% and having the miniaturization-techs etc. give a much smaller benefit. Al

You can guarantee whatever you want. If you would actually have looked at the top-players though, you would know that your claim is incorrect, but I guess it was too much trouble to check if your "facts" were right. 9 out of 10 in the top10 have posted in the last month, many of them in the last days.

There have been other threads about this in the past, for example: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=116282#895959 The description for Subspace Annihilator says: "The Subspace Annihilator is the Subspace Blaster but with a newly engineered crystal that can inflict massive beam weapon damage." So they are both bugged. Subspace Blaster is a joke and Subspace Annihilator doesn't even exist. It isn't only the beam-weapon line that is in need of some adj

Yup, there are lots of bugs and typos in the .xml-files but the developers keep ignoring them. For example, the text says in the Civilization Manager that governments give bonuses to production and research which is false. I could fix it myself and test it so it works in under two minutes (and I have done so), but since I play Metaverse games, I can't actually play with the change. Irritating.

Bug: Building "Planetary Defense" (the one supposed to give +25%) doesn't seem to do anything. I just checked again with 1.2-Beta-2, the bonus isn't shown under "planet bonuses" on the planetary details screen, the numbers in combat don't change (barring the random roll) and it was no problem to invade a planet with eight such buildings (on equal tech level and

Nice guide. But I have one question. What is the purpose of the op-line under [EVENT#] in scenarios? It is used in some of the campaign-missions.

This is going to be long. Lot's of new bugs and quite a few old ones. Example-mod bugs: * You have misspelled 'league' in the description for 'Human League of Friends'. * It should also be 'an era' in the same description, not 'a era'. * The 'Customize your Civilization'-screen doesn't support very long names. Which means that when you play as 'Human League of Friends', 'Demonia Blood Warriors', 'United Worlds of the Frog', 'Navy of the Vampire Pirates', 'Mi

Something that would be cool for the story generator would be if all the AI:s had their own ship-name lists and would name them once they reached a certain level or something. That way, you would read about them in the generated story every time you fought them. ryanar15, there is some info about the story generator in this old journal: https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx?AID=116123

the starting over of research from the start each time just blew me away... not going to play it again for that reason and that reason alone Well, they either have to do that or limit the technologies available to research in every mission to just a few. Otherwise, there isn't anything stopping you from researching everything in the first missi

You have currently 4 tooltips in the lower left for population and treasure. Two for pop: "Population" over the pop-icon and "Empire Population" over the number. And two for treasure: "Treasure" over the icon and "-Empire Treasure- ..." over the number. My suggestion is to axe the two tooltips that are over the icons and let the other two cover that area as well. Not very important but would tidy it up a little bit.

They always launch at full capacity if you have the population to do it. But if the population is under the troop carrier capacity there are not enough to do it. You can't launch troops that you don't have. That would be a neat trick, but it just won't work. No, they don't. For example if I quick-launch a colony ship (max 500m) built

There is a file in the Galciv-folder in 'my documents' that keeps track of where in the campaign you are. Maybe you deleted that file by mistake? I know for a fact that simply deleting all of the save-game files won't have any effect on the campaign, I have done it myself.
