I hate that Assassination event too. It's not always bad though. One game when I was Yor and going for a technological victory, the Altarians kept attacking me. Then the Arcean President was assasinated visiting an Altarian planet. The Arceans started beating the crap out of the Altarians and I was left alone researching technological victory. <br

dont need 100% at the start only need 1 person per colony ship to take a planet so population isnt the most important thing. Worthless advice. The more planets that you colonise with 500 pop, the faster your taxbase will increase. One of the major faults of the AI is that they colonise planets with 10-50 pop. It takes an incredible long t

Not a bug per se, but the quantum driver tech is worthless. The graviton driver IV has better damage/size ratio than quantum driver III, never mind II and I. I suppose this is a side-effect of the minituarization bugfix.. Various tech tree paths should be checked to ensure the never and shinier is in fact better. QD issue happens when you have researched most of the

Race logos on ships... cool. Is that one of the new races logo on one of the ships? Maybe the Korath since the colors are similar to the Drengin. The Epic Generator looks awesome and the spies looks so much more fun then the current system.

No, this isn't a bug. They are entirely cosmetic and part of the design. You must have noticed that the Defenders still only has 1 attack from it's Particle Beam component? So the only bug is that the tooltips for these fake components are incorrect. It would be better if they had the tooltips that all other Extras has.

There are two computer intelligence bugs in the Choose Opponents-screen, both happens when you enter the screen and then quit GalCiv2 without beginning a new game: Bug 1: When restarting the game and entering the Choose Opponents-screen, the Terran Alliance is set to Fool intelligence. + Made it so that if you played as one race and then started a new ga

Have you actually looked at your debug.err? I think not, because if you did, you must have realised that >90% of it was pointless to post. The beginning (your computer data) and the end (you know, where the bug happens) would most likely have been sufficient and wouldn't have made scrolling through the thread such a bother.

Longest Game ever! Longest Debug ever! 36 hours Straight play. Combat Galore! Best way to mess up a thread ever!

Got the bug in yellow box, but still I have no idea how I got it. Maybe some random glitch, here is debug.err. That one happens when you have 0% military spending and are building Social on the planet. Another bug is when there is 0% military spending and nothing Social is built. In this case, the tooltip will appear correctly but the tex

What I'm wondering is how it goes from Terrans and co. have been beating up Drengin everywhere to Drengin-suddenly-rule-the-galaxy-and-everyone-else is just a pitiful resistance movement. Quotes from the campaign. Spoilers of course. <TD class="m

No, I never said that I wanted a completly bug-free game since that's impossible with todays computer games. Fixing the last major bugs does not equal fixing every single bug. If you are going to quote me, try to understand the contents. My experience with GalCiv 2 the first day was the following. 10 minutes after having installed the game, I came to realise that there was a race creation-bug. One hour after installation I had become very disapointed with the game because of it, since I

Bodyless: Imagine: two game are released. one costs 100$ and the other 50$. as the first even took more time to develop, it looks rather old. And you dont even know which one is more bugfree b4 you played it. Dont tell me you would buy the old expensive one. 1) It wouldn't need to cost twice as much, not even close to that. Fixing the last ma

I used to play V 1.2 with Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller on my laptop nearly without problems. (Latest driver from intel website, default driver configuration) So: It is possible to run galciv on this graphic chip. You should not give up easily... It works okay for me too. It's bad at showing constructor/starbase aura, au

No, that's wrong. The interesting files are the .g2scenario-files which have the intro-text, the text you get after winning and the text you get from losing. Simply open them in a text-editor and read the text after Description=, Victory= and Defeat=. They should be read in the following order. [Mission0] Scenario=An Unexpected Visitor.gc2scenario [Mission1] Scenario=Desperate Ally.gc2scenario [Mission2] Scenario=Ixith.gc2scenario [Mission3]<br/

I'm dealing with it if you must know. I nearly never buy any games. Especially not new ones. GalCiv 2 being a recent exception. This works fine for me. I nearly never play buggy games and the gaming industry get close to nothing of my money. That to the side, the main point of this thread is NOT bugs but the improvements and changes. The OP was making the poin

There were some fanboys adamant that it worked, even to the point of shrillness. Oh, they saw that parts could get larger with the current miniturization system, and yet they maintained that it worked. What will they do now but celebrate Stardock's magnanimity for giving us this fix? Figures. Yup, that's the way of the fanboy. They insisted that t
