There is a release candidate (aka beta) for 1.4 on Stardock Central. 1.4 final isn't out yet.

Looks great. More stuff + more choices = more fun At least in my opinion.
I was voicing my op and would like to eventually see a way implemented where everyone benefits. You have got a strange way of showing it. Your only suggestion so far is to make it so that none benefits. Updates for cont
So what do you say to Joe Schmoe who bought the game at a store, never goes online, and wonders what is wrong with his game not running? Nothing, how do you except us to be able to speak to him if he doesn't have internet?
Well at the risk of inciting a flame war, I don't think my opinion is stupid. Not everyone has internet access readily available, and that is the main issue. Just because you do don't assume everyone does. Furthermore, I never said that Stardock sucked when it came to customer support and they don't. But I have never seen a game that needed so many updates and patches, eve
Wow, that didn't take long. Wasn't all of this stuff supposed to be fixed with the release of the expansion? I'm really starting to get annoyed at these updates, at least as far as their frequency is concerned. Don't get me wrong, any improvements are always welcomed by me but another patch? Like I said, I know nothing about this patch and was led to believe the expansion
@Meglobob I agree with Tom, sword of the stars is inferior to GC2. Pretty graphics but limited gameplay. Any GC2 player would be disappointed in sword of the stars. Gotta love stupid generalisations like that one. I'm a GC2 player AND I like SotS. edited by moderator. Let's stay on the less burning side of
Civilisation Capital (12) + Advanced Farm (7) = 19 So it's all correct.
I recently finished a gigantic game, during which I wrote down all the bugs that I could find. Here they are: Planetary Defense Bug - The planetary defense bonus from one of the colonisation events doesn't show up under Planet Bonuses in Planet Details. Research Complete Screen - There are lots of missing info on this screen: New Ship Components, New Starbase Modules, New Invasion Tactics. Same thing when right-clicking on a technology in the Research- or Trad
Since this is already in the game, I can say from experience that this actually does not affect the game much. Perhaps the amount increased each turn should be increased. Nope, that's not in the game at the moment. It's quite a difference between one random ability increasing 1% each turn (which is in the game right now) and all abilities increasing 1
I'm playing my first 1.3 game right now with 9 AIs. 8 of them choose missiles, 1 choose beams. I'm a little suspicious of this 8-1-0-ratio because I've had the same experiences as you in previous patches. Hopefully, this will be fixed sometime.
Sadly, I could only find the scenario dialogue (spoken by ambassadors) in the xml files. Which led me to think the scenario briefing must be hardcoded. But the dialogue is probably enough to get by with. Thanks. The briefing, winning and losing text are in the *.gc2scenario-files. If you take a look in "Dread Lords Campaign.gc2campaign", you can
Seconded. The build times on the colony screen are wrong most of the time (too short) I have never had them being too short, they are quite often too long in my games though.
Yor is NOT balanced as anyone who plays them knows (like me). They are (in my experience) much much easier to win with then all other races (maybe except the Drath since I have never played those and they get some insane bonuses too). I have begun quite a few games with the other races and they have always been much harder, the Yor is like a drug that I keep coming back to. The Yor have 100% loyalty bonus, I have NEVER had a planet that was even close to being culturally overth
I hope that it stays this way. I mean, they are incredible easy to kill anyway with their 1 hp.
Also, there's something about the governments that was nerfed too. Instead of 75% bonunses for the Federation, it's now just 30. Can that be changed back too, please? Changing them back isn't like trying to add a Z-Axis to a playable galaxy map. Actually, they weren't nerfed. They have always given 10%, 20% and 30% economic bonus which was apparen
Korx, Yor and Drengin are evil whether they have researched Xeno Ethics or not. This seems to be working correctly now IMO.
Play some more suicidal games and your average will become suicidal soon enough
Well then we need a poll or consensus. I know plenty of people who do not like these changes. They are all over the forum. And I am one of them. I will become very "vocal". These changes I feel were made just for high ranking metaverse players and people who play the extreme harder difficulty levels. Those of us who play the game on an everyday basis do not like the change
1) I never need 5 transports to take a planet (admittedly, my transports usually have 1000 troops on board because I pretty much always research advanced troop mod before building them). Huh, what did you say? I always have 1000 troops on my first transports with regular troop pods. Once I get advanced I usually have 2500 per transport. Having
I remembered another one (and I can't edit my above post for some reason): 4) The Drengin has a planet with a 700% prod.tile and they haven't built a factory on it. In fact, they haven't any factories at all on that planet and I have played at least 5 years now. I posted some more information about this a few days ago in the official bug thread.
Gigantic and tiny maps are the two easiest ways to win. Tiny because of rushing and Gigantic because you can usually control the flow of battle. For a real challenge, play on medium. We're probably going to update the Metaverse scoring so that there's a general set of bonuses as you approach medium. I don't know if this was dir
1. Upgrading multiple ships in the same fleet - the first ship upgraded reports hitpoints 1/1, others remain the same. It also looks like only one fleet will display the "upgrading next week" message if you do this throughout multiple fleets. I have noted that I have to click on the fleet an additional time for the hp of all upgrading ships in the fle
Heh, I made the mistake of conquering 3 minor races as Yor, then going to attack Terran. Result: All the other 8 major races declared war to me. Most of them because of my warmongering ways, the Drengin because someone paid them. However, I'm still winning. I've killed the Terrans, Thalans and Iconians now. The Drengin are probably next and they are the only threat to my armada of medium, large, and a couple of huge ships. Game Stats: All AIs gifted. Gigantic map w
Yes, please. Dreadlords should definitly be a Mega-event. I'm going to say NO. Against most by what I read. The reason is that I'd always have the options set to OFF when playing Metaverse. These would ruin the game, especially if they happened early on. I would have it on in my Metaverse games (=every game since I only play
