Am I missing something here? What part of "not available as a standalone release until..." don't you comprehend? Hope that wasn't directed at me. My statement above was to correct Jafo's incorrect statement that Vista as of yet is not out of Beta or RC status... which it is. Personally I could care less about what the OP stated. Howev

Vista has not been released [Gold] yet... so Windowblinds for Vista's RC/betas is also a Beta...and thus is not available as a trial. Vista is RTM. Stardock has this RTM version and so do people that have MSDN subs. Just because you can't go out and buy it yet doesn't mean it's not final or for that matter "released" as you put it.

The number of users who care about it are much less than the number of users who would use the wallpaper changer for example. Yeah, because it's really hard to right-click on the desktop and change your wallpaper that way. So basically you're introducing a "feature" to make a process easier rather then a "feature" that actually introduces a new

Maybe so, but without the command prompt being skinned it just makes WB5.1 seem WEAK.... like StyleXP WEAK... know what I mean?

12 Replies 5,053 Views

Well, we're now on 5.1 and still no skinning of the command prompt window. This was the best capability of 4.6 alone... I only have one thing to say... W T F?!?!

It would be a waste of development time to look into minor issues like this when there is every chance the problem will be fixed in the next IE7 build Ok, not doging you on this, but the issue was there with IE6 as well until you fixed it. So, my point is... it wasn't fixed by an IE update, just like it won't be fixed in IE7 once it goes to RTM,

^^^ Not exactly what I'm looking for. The problem is with WB5 and IE7 not the overall system. Uninstall WB5 or IE7 (downgrade back to IE6) and the problem goes away. Whatever the problem was with the Favorites toolbar in IE6 needs to be rectified in WB5 when used with IE7 as well.

Remember that bug I posted a while back about having expanding arrows on actual links in My Favorites menu in IE? Well, along the lines of updates to WB5 that got fixed. Just yesterday I installed IE7 RC1 to start doing some testing and the problem resurfaced. So, Neil, take a look into this... it's definatly a problem.

This issue mostly deals with the Slingbox player app. I believe that it works via overlay... which of course explains it, but I wanted to make sure you didn't by any chance had a way to rewrite arround this limitation.

Something I wanted to point out and see if it's possible to fix or redesign to make it work. If you're using a skin that can do full transparency on the active window and let's say the current window is a full screen of IE on a webpage, you cannot play a video in the background and watch it through the transparency. Obviously it would be very beneficial if you wanted to do this that it would work, but I can understand if it's a limitation of the GUI redrawing design. I just want to make sure

I had this same problem. I think it got fixed when 5.01 came out. I'm using the latest version of WB and I no longer have this issue. I can't remember exactly what fixed it though... one day it was just gone, I was happy, and I forgot I even had the issue. I know what you mean though... I was pissed at it when I had it also. Download SDC and make sure you're using the latest version of WB.

Citizen JRSCCivic98 - Seems many notebooks use proprietary driver sets that can't be updated with generic drivers. I have a Fujitsu Lifebook that fits that description - even using Patje's ModTool, newer Cat drivers just won't install. It's very frustrating. It may have to do with the particular hardware - my rig supports hardware accel

Yes, I can apply a skin after XP Pro starts. I just go into WindowBlinds and click apply. The last skin used is already selected. It's almost like the skin just doesn't get painted on startup, but WB5 is loaded. The apply is really quick as well... which leads me to believe that WB5 is fully loaded into memory... of course you can't check this since it's not a process anymore... or so they say.

Just as the title reads. Started with the next to last/latest version update. No errors or anything... just sometimes on system startup the skin is not applied. Software is activated correctly and no errors on info screen. Anyone else seeing this issue?

What do you mean you can't load the drivers? Are you using the direct link I provided above or the one on ATI's site. If you're going to ATI's site and using the mobility download there (which tests your laptop before you can actually download the driver package) it will never work. Use the link I posted above... if it's an ATI chipset it will install.

The install for WB5 should have a built in procedure for detecting a previous version and uninstalling it if it's known to have issues with multiple copies. This is how all software installs work... why can't WB5's?

So...if someone else comments on a thread it is 'digging it up', but if you personally respond it's what, exactly? I didn't dig it up, I was willing to let it go away. The other laptop thread that I have was one I kept bringing up so that Neil would stay on top of it and do his testing like I asked him to. If you go back and re

freebird dug is up (post 17)... it was 4 days old and no posts at that point... (I think I'm starting to see why no one here seems to be as through in finding little glitches with the software. Attention to detail... you're missing the obvious even on a simple thing like this. And while it wasn't very old, it was starting to move to the bottom of the list. Point is, we knew where we stood on the issue.) We had seen where the issues were. Also, yes it is just a scree

So, it does look like that there is a small insignificant spike occuring when bringing up system properties. It could possibly be the extra processing needed to bring up a skinned window.. That's exactly what it is from my findings. This is what's causing the higher then normal speed postings in system properties. This spike do
