There are no plans to remove either of these two design features - ever...You ever thought of using a Mac? It would solve all your problems...
Why do you like to spill gas in my direction? You know I have no problem lighting the match? :P The issue I have with these "design features" as you call them (why is it even a design feature, what positive purpose does it provide... nothing) is that Aero supports both of these capabilites. Since SD likes to pride itself

Does anyone have any info on when the next version of WB will be released and if it'll solve the current issues of No Command Prompt Window skinning and the pause experienced on the Windows Task Manager when holding click on window? Thanks.

OK, that worked. The weird thing is that I simply "ran" the install off the download site instead of saving it first. (No big deal here.) The install went fine. Restarted the OS and then I found 2 files in the Recycle Bin on restart. A file for BaseVista32 and a zip of sdcentral1. Rather surprising kind of thing.... so I have to ask. What kind of wacky install shield process does thing thing have? I dunno, maybe it's me, but I've found some "very" peculiar "ways" that SD
2.51.513, build 164 seems to be working though.
That's cool and all, but I can't get build 164 to even be detected as a viable update by SDC. Even if I run it elevated it never finds an update for itself. That's why I'm like... what gives?

10 Replies 9,857 Views

It's not working. Even run as Admin SDC doesn't find an update for itself. I've refreshed the servers and the XML data. Version I have is 2.51.513 build: 163. Any other ideas, short of uninstall/reinstall SDC manually from the SD download page?

Since the most recent update to SDC, which causes it to no longer prompt for UAC elevation, the program cannot install any programs. Obviously you can right-click it and choose to Run As Admin, but why the change? Seems pretty pointless to get rid of the prompt since it can't do anything without running elevated.
I didn't explain well my situation... i have win xp so i don't have aero... did you mean this?
No, that's not what I meant. What I meant is that (and this does not apply to you) users of Vista have reported that Aero doesn't interfere with games like WB does. Both Aero and WB skin apps so if one works and the other doesn't, then something must be wrong. Obviously you can't test this because you don't have Vista, but this has been finding as well as others.
fixed it This will happen everytime. But if you set an exemption under the per applications settings to not skin the following files you will have no problems anymore, or at least I dont. EQ2.exe, Everquest2.exe (both in /sony/Everquest 2 folder) and Launchpad.exe in the launchpad folder.
That's a shame you have to do that.... Hey, just wondering, if you have Vista Aero running, does it kill EQ the same way WindowBlinds does?
As always, importance is relative.
Whatever dude! Listen to yourself for once. Hey, can you tell me why when I close 100% of all other apps they don't show as running anymore? WOW, what a concept? You guys at SD must be living in a fantacy world where you think your code is "perfect". Obviously it's not even close to standard.... You guys can't even skin everything that Aero skins in Vista.... let alone skin everything without some kind of error. So, if you're us
Confirmed. I had the same trouble and excluding is the very best way to fix it. This is with a Vista install
I bet the game doesn't crash with Aero skinning it. That's just so weird...

There's an EXE I remember seeing all the time even when WB was unloaded. Why does WBVista.exe run even when WB is not skinning? I think that's the more important question here.

15 Replies 6,221 Views

This will probably get blamed on Window's GUI limitations as well....

11 Replies 2,708 Views

It does the same thing in XP Train. Still runs a process even if it's not skinning. I think is stupid. Since you're well known in the WB community, have you taken this up with SD on why they wrote the code this way? I don't like it.

15 Replies 6,221 Views

You don't have to uninstall WB to check. As long as it's not skinning Vista it won't matter. I have it installed, but I don't use it. Would be nice if it didn't load up a process when it's not skinning, but I guess that's too much to ask when SD writes code. I started a ticket about this a while back and it didn't go anywhere. Kept getting the "We can't duplicate it here and we've tried everything short of buying a laptop like yours to try it." So I gave up on it... obv

32bit on an Acer Ferrari 4005. I can duplicate it almost 90% of the time. It will lock up on hibernate. It gets very anoying because when it does you have to turn it completely off and back on. I hibernate 100% of the time when I shut down. Sleep just wasts my battery.

14 Replies 8,609 Views

I never said "sleep". I said Hibernate... two totally different things and it's under Vista Ultimate not XP, only in Vista.

My WBVista.exe is ALWAYS running. Even when I don't have WB skinning anything and I've applied Aero. Honestly, it's still a little buggy for me so I have it installed, but not skinning. The damn exe still runs all the time. It's stupid if you ask me. The only way to keep it from running is to just uninstall it.
