As of 1:30pm EST or so, power has been restored and all servers and services should be fully operational. If not, email kwilas@stardock.com and I'll see what needs to be kicked. Thank you Mr. Kubota (he insists on being called that, not just a generic "the generator") for your interim help. And a big round of applause for KarmaGirl and her better half (Jeff) for wiring him up and keeping vigil through the night.

If it has tabs and doesn't look like they are from WC, I don't expect that it's us. The popup window bit itself seems to preclude that. Ignore it and/or run AdAware or something to see what's causing it. Kris

NVIDIA (and I use all caps because nobody's ever told me the proper way to address them) asked for the button linking to their website. And they paid for it. This is their current visual style/skin offering for people that are interested. You dislike the nvidia web link/gfx and have issues with it, yet still want the rest? Use your Object Desktop or SkinStudio registrations and fix things to your liking. Or, and this is a radical thought, don't use their skin. Or deal with t

Without taking apart the latest binary in a decompiler (since none of the developers are answering their cell phones which RAN OUT OF BATTERY POWER), it is possible that could be a DesktopX error message left in during development. Or, depending on the theme which I can't see because the website you are hosting it on yells at me, a debug message from a dxscript erroring out.

One small caveat with ATI: the 8500 and 9000 boards are not DX9 compliant (think the same about the 9200's if those are still around as well). While hardly an issue right now even in terms of games, if you expect to be using Longhorn in 2005 with that card, it's worth noting. Course, if you get an 8500 or a 9000, the money you save will go nicely toward a new card 18 months down the road. <

You're not using the Component Manager correctly. In offline situations, with no access to the internet, it depends on your serial number being properly entered. You also have to use the backup/restore features to transfer the .cab and .cmi files to the computer and then install them there. If WindowBlinds is running fine and then "something" happens and it stops working and only a reinstall makes it works again, your PC has some major issues going on that have nothing to do with WB.

For the record, the security enhancements I was referring to for SDC are for our protection, to make it more difficult for people to pirate the software without having paid for it.

Any of the browser functions in SDC are handled by an embedded IE control. I heard after the anti-trust trial that it was a part of the OS. Security flaws? YES. They are Microsoft's when they are found. You totally, imho, don't understand what happens with OS components, email, or security. If you hit some whack-ass site where they are trying to screw with you, you're going to get messed up unless Microsoft has fixed the flaws in question.

$49.95 plus any potential sales tax purchases a 12 month subscription to the Object Desktop Network. What does that mean? It means for 12 months you get access to alpha, beta, and release builds for ODNT components. It means you can archive and restore those builds through the CM or SDC (excepting issues like this weekend's 6 month+ old WB 3.50a issue which we've made available for anybody who's subscription has expired). I do not understand your "I'm asked to go to a hyperlink in the

We have not set concrete dates on the phasing out of the CM, but it's going to be in 2003. At this point in time, I expect beta and release versions will be updated concurrently for the next month or two. Sometime in 3Q03, it will change to only release builds being released on the CM. After that, we'll see when the cutoff is. This thread may not be the best forum for why you dislike SDC, but now's the time to speak. We have plans in terms of security, archiving, consolidating the do

Stardock Central has nothing asking you to pay anything per se. If you want things like the enhanced version of the WinCustomize Browser or access to premium suites, you have to pay. QED. Stardock Central requires you to receive one email from us to activate your Stardock.net account, to somewhat show that "you are you" and not futzing around with a bogus email address. You don't want to provide us with a valid email address for you, then I'm sorry, you shouldn't be a customer.
