Actually, I have been able to set Open Shell Start Menu color, by using the Modify Style -> Change System Colors ... The color to set is "Color 0" ... See enclosed images, where I set Open Shell Start Menu color to bright green. This is on Windows 10, with WB10 ... haven't tried it on WB11, but it *should* use the same color options... Here is the settings menu: https://www.flickr.com/phot

well... okay... I took the simple solution here... I un-installed WB11, Start 11, SkinStudio 11, rebooted, then installed WB10.89 again... Almost all of these issues are now resolved, at least until MS finally coerces me to downgrade Win10 to Win11 ... hopefully that will be awhile yet. Maybe I'll be fortunate and all my WB11 issues will be resolved by then (or maybe not). For now, this thread can be closed.
Okay, I uninstalled Start Menu, rebooted, but this issue is still present. https://www.flickr.com/photos/derelllicht/55121943082/ Also, I have a Windows 11 laptop; I just tested all of these issues (VLC Media Player, and corrupted menus in RJTextEd when loading new WB skins), and they are present with Windows 11 as well. So none of these are Windows 10 issues.
Wait a moment, @basj ... You are saying that you cannot get skins to display on your Win10 system with WB11 ... Don't you *already* have a reportable bug there?? It *should* work... it works fine for me, except for this application issue. I have exactly the same Windows 10 and WindowBlinds versions as you have. ================================================= On a separate question, you previously suggested: "Would like to suggest for
Well, first of all, here is RJTE with the Dragon skin... https://www.flickr.com/photos/derelllicht/55121964704 and again, after I loaded this skin, RJTE was completely frozen... ummm... there *is* one point that perhaps we've left out of the discussion?? I'm still using Windows 10 Pro on this machine... I upgraded WB to 11.07, in order to get access to that "Do not a
Quoting Derell Licht, reply 2 Nope, rebooting the computer didn't resolve this issue... No, I mean just restart explorer.exe. Refer here for steps how to simply restart explorer.exe: <a href="https://www.ninjaone.com/blog/restart-the-explorer-exe-
Also, I found the other program that is having this effect... I use a reminder program called EPIM Mail (Formerly EssentialPIM Free) ... both the program itself, and especially its reminder dialogs, are corrupted when I change the WB theme... very odd...
Here is further details on this issue: If I have RJTextEd minimized when I change the WB theme, then I get the effect that I documented above. If, however, I leave RJTextEd open when I change WB theme, then the editor *appears* to be drawn correctly with the new theme - but when I click on any of the filename tabs, the editor just hangs... In either case, closing and re-opening the editor restores it to a working state. soooo... this is not lethal, but cer
Wait, I think I know what is going on with Thunderbird... I'm on the beta channel, which gets frequent updates, including over past couple of days... The very fact that I can exclude Tbird from WB handling, and this issue is still present, I think demonstrates that it is a Tbird issue... You can close this thread, I'll take this up with Tbird support...
Nope, rebooting the computer didn't resolve this issue...
WB11.07 has recently change something in itself to make it compatible to Windows Explorer itself. I am not sure if this changes is the cause of your issue with thunderbird itself and or your mod done to it. As a reference this is what I get with my Thunderbird without any mod done with Dragon skin applied. Thank you, Basj, Stardock Community Assistant
Well, that is interesting... I actua
This is another new problem, and a rather crazy one... it *also* started this afternoon, after I did the "WB config set dark UI" switch... Several programs will show nuked menu bars after I load a new skin... This particular example was after loading the Denim skin, but this is happening with *any* new skin load... After loading skin: https://www.flickr.com/photos/derelllicht/55120260908/ <br /
Okay, I will include a couple of images here... this is going to be challenging to pursue, because (as the first image shows), even after I tell WB to ignore Tbird, that program is still malfunctioning - I simply cannot set colors on the Messages pane at all... but I am certain that the problem was initially caused by my toggling the dark mode switch in WB config page - even though I also admit that this makes no sense at all... Anyway, here is what I have: System versio
I was looking around WB settings, related to my previous thread about VLC Media Player, and I opened the settings menu in upper-right corner of WB 11 config - Style page, and selected 'Force dark mode on UI' ... That did what I wanted - it changed the config dialog to dark mode - cool... However, it also did something unexpected... It changed all the Messages lists in Mozilla Thunderbird beta to Bright White background Bold Black text for unread messages Normal Bla
I've been using WB 10 on Windows 10 Pro, for years now, with no issues. Recently, I upgraded to WB 11.07 (still on Windows 10) to gain access to a new feature in that program. However, I now am having an odd quirk when I run VLC Media Player... In the past, I could double-click on a video file (in Explorer), and it would open in VLC and just play normally. Since the upgrade to WB 11.07, though, its behavior has changed... the first time I play a video file, it just opens
Okay, Adam McGuinness has responded back to me, and is following up on this issue. Thank you for your help, Basj !!
Well, Basj, I submitted a support ticket on this issue, and the response that I got was: For the most common questions about WindowBlinds, including how to get your installer and key, please see the FAQ below: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1326776354/WindowBlinds <p style=

Thank you so much, @DaveRI !! I'll try this out tomorrow.... and yeah, this is quite a Retro; a few months ago, I wandered all the way back through the entire history of WB skins, and found many that were really lovely; it seems like it used to be easier to create really imaginative skins, because creations like this aren't seen much in the past 10 years or so... The only problem is that at some point, I reached skins that didn't have the taskbar in them, and
Later note: So I extracted wbwood.wba into a folder, found the file references in wbwood.uis (ca line 201), and changed that line to my editor: Command=texted.exe I then zipped up the folder, gave it a new name, renamed x.zip to x.wba, copied installed into WB, and loaded the theme... but when I click on that button, it still runs notepad.exe ... The only place that the name 'notepad' exists now, is in some backup files... So I'm
So I re-discovered this skin recently... It's a rather busy skin, but very lovely to look at... It also has this odd quirk, that used to be more common in the earlier days of WindowBlinds... It has a column of buttons in upper-left corner (see attached image), that link to external apps... Needless to say, since it was released in 2002, alot has changed, and most of those links don't do what they should... The most obvious, is the hard-coded link to Internet Explorer, whic
It's still a mystery, though, why WB wasn't notifying me of available updates?? When I went back and told it to search for Updates (after getting your responses here), it said my 11.02 version was current. When I then went to the Stardock/Windowblinds site, logged in, and went to download the current version, it asked for my email address, then said that there was an upgrade available to me for $7.50 ... However, I went back to my original registration email, use
You folks are *great* !!!! I just downloaded and installed WB 11.06, rebooted, and now File Explorer works perfectly !!! Thank you all soooo much!!!
Oh, interesting... I didn't even consider whether I had current version of WB11 !! Every time I start up my laptop, I get a reminder to update Start 11 (it got updated again today when I booted the machine), but I haven't gotten any notices to update WB in a long time!! I'll go do that...
