Help!! WB is messing up my computer!! (with screenshots)

I don't know what to do anymore... I tried everything!

I have been using WB5 for about 4 days now and I haven't gotten any types of errors, whatsoever, up until a few hours ago.. I didn't even do a thing! I was using Mormegil's ChristmasTime theme (and ran it for 4 days without errors), then when I decided to come to WinCustomize.com to browse for new Objects and such, my computer hung up on me! I don't know if that had anything to do with my visiting wincustomize.com, but it couldn't have been a virus or a spyware because I just performed a general maintenance on my computer a few hours earlier (and I have been doing that since January).. Then I restarted my computer using the button on my CPU and when I entered my Windows XP account, the entire "start" bar below (the whole thing, not just the start button, but the entire bar -- sorry, i have no idea what it's called) didn't even show up! The only thing that showed up was the digital clock, and that's it.. Ok, hold on.. I don't know where I'm going anymore. I think it's better if I just show you a screenshot and maybe you can just help me out and tell me what's wrong (also, I tried uninstalling+re-installing WB5, but apparently, that didn't fix my problem)..

That's my whole screen.. No "start button" and the entire "bar" at the bottom of the screen is messed up! WB also got rid of my Windows XP theme.. I tried accessing through desktop/right-click/bah blah but then that didn't work.. all it's showing me is nothing (sorry, I'm really, really sleepy and i have been trying to fix this problem since 5 PM (and now it's about (9:00).. so, that should explain why my grammar is skewed. i haven't even eaten yet!) I tried righ clicking on "My Computer" and going to "Manage" / "Services" / etc. (as one poster explained in another thread), but that didn't work -- it didn't bring my Windows XP theme back..

Please help me! I am totally clueless about what's going on! And once again, excuse the grammar. I'm typing this up real fast because I'm about to collapse.. I really hope you guys can help me! Please!

Moderator Note:

This issue is caused by the cracked version of WindowBlinds.  Don't run the cracked version of WindowBlinds and this won't happen.

I can't believe people coming in and asking Support for support for cracked-warez versions of WB!!! One word: Audacity, with asinine as the descriptive.

if there was a machine that spit out ferrari replicas for free, are you not gonna take one? you couldn't afford it anyways, and weren't gonna buy it anyways, so it's not hurting ferrari. but ferrari of course doesn't want you to have free ferraris, so they make parts of the car hard to copy. someome else comes along and tells you how to get around that and gives you a tool to do so. but i guess you stick with your 1980 pinto anyways?

everyone has a diff standard, and we obviously know whats urs..

im saying its illegal: will u steal, if u dun get caught, i bet many will.. but some have morals..

as i said, using warez = illegal, no matter WHAT, u r not right
the company will always be right regardless how much they charge u. unless of corz they program a virus within their program...

nothing will justify that using warez is right.

Did you notice Stardock try to postrate you to some of the skins to buy it when you purchase WindowBlinds 5? $9.99! Come on! I hope in future they don't plan on selling their skins. It's bad enough I have to paid subription fees to download skins now. The skin they are trying to sell is not even that good. Imagine if no author are like that. I fear for the future of this product then. I think they trying to charge money everyway they can now. That's why I think they are greedy. I'm wasting too much money on them already.

That is absolute nonsense. Even the authors that sell skins a long ime now like Pixtudio and Skinplant have plenty of free skins available. And nobody forces You to buy anything. Of course You are free to download VisualStyles from sites that are packing spyware into every file to be able to pay their bills, if that is any better for You.

Just a quick question for the devs. I've been using uxtheme and StyleXP for a while, but I now want to buy WB 5, since it looks rather nice. Like I always do, I downloaded a cracked version to check the program out (yup - it's wrong and all that, but I simply find it's the most convenient way to find out if I want to buy a program or not. As long as I don't retain any cracked stuff on my machine, which in fact I don't, I frankly see no harm in it...). Trouble is, on changing skins this particular version of WB 5 gave me a blue screen every time (oooooo, haven't seen one of those in years). Skins work just fine on reboot, it's just changing them that's dodgy every time.

Now I'm not asking for any kind of support here (perish the very thought!), I just want to know if WB 5 is working fine with Server 2003 Enterprise, or if there are any issues at all? Tell me it's all good and I'll hit that "Purchase WindowBlinds" button right away.

not in my experience. both as a pirate and, like i said, a devoloper. (actually, i take that back, i think maybe three or so people have paid for my software after not being able to use a warez copy. but compare that to the number of people who don't buy and it's insignifigant). but it's obvious none of us are gonna convince the other side of anything, so we might as well give it a rest. i could discuss the topic all day, but i don't think it's suited for this forum. i'm really surprised the thread hasn't been locked, but i respect you guys for at least letting some of us vent over it.



Just out of curiosity Vanilla....what kind of program do you code that no one seems to want to buy it? It seems rather odd that you can code something so popular that no one would purchase it but would rather pirate it. Are you sure you aren't compensating for a lack of something else?

Mr bk334572 ....Essentially all the Windowblinds skins here and elsewhere will work with WB5...but specific alpha-trans types made for WB5...they will take time....just hang in there....more will come...

You'll need SkinStudio ....but be aware....they are not 'easy' to skin...not if you wish to do them well....

if you buy Stardock's Object Desktop, you get pratically every bit of software they ofrer, including SkinStudio...it is a fantastic bundle

SkinStudio imports, edits then exports exisiting themes

I am intersted and would like to buy some Stardock Software titles (especially WindowBlinds).  Are there any known compatiability issues with semi-new OS like WinXP MCE2005?  Would a program like WB cause games or any programs to crash like Adobe Photoshop, Maxon Cinema 4D, and Macromedia?  I've been tempted to download the trial, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with the programs I've mentioned.  I'd rather hear some feedback before I go messing around with my new laptop.  Thanks.
