Linking Influence and Diplomatic Capital is Fun and Exciting for You and Me!

...or would be, if I could figure out how in the world to do it. Linking your current level of diplomatic capital to the mystery influence algorithm would make spending this resource a difficult choice, rather than having it be just another form of gold. So, accumulating (the now valuable) diplomatic capital would increase your area of influence, but could be spent (thus reducing AoI) to negotiate treaties, etc.

So, my question for you is, does anyone know if it is possible to link a resource level to something like the influence equation... and where in the world is the influence equation located?

Thanks in advance!

Not a bad idea as long as it doesn't become too overpowered, maybe a limit of only a couple tile bonus. I'd also like to see diplomatic capital as something I can "spend" on another civilization to increase their relationship with me (outside of trading).

I think I read in one of the stickied posts that it increases your interfaction relationships, but I haven't tested it enough to see for myself. I was thinking of some sort of nonlinear function providing diminishing returns and that caps out at about 4 tiles for ~2000 or so. Increasing the trade value and reducing the income from Scenic Views from (2 to 1 per turn) would help balance this out, I think.

I'd like to see Diplomatic Capital used to pressure factions into making peace, alliances, and dynastic agreements with other factions personally.

Yeah, I would like to see this as well. Unfortunately, we can't mod new diplomatic functions in, as it stands now (I'm pretty sure that's the case, anyway). I think that there's a lot that can be done to make diplomatic capital a little more unique... maybe we'll see something like this in one of the 1.x patches or expansion.

of course you know that the diplomatic capital affects the relationship with other empires already (so it is not a pointless resource).

Yep, I mentioned that in Reply #2, RF. So noone's had any luck in locating where the game calculates influence?
