Simple Way to Increase your Sim SPeed

and overall performances

Hi

to make it fast and simple,

Demigod runs sexily smoother on Windows 7

Before i couldn't play mandala, simply my old macbook pro with windowsXP couldn't take it :

Sim speed at 2 in single player

1 or even worst when playing with you guys

Now guess what ? i am at 5 almost all the time, maybe 4 in late game.

and here is the special Santa's Gift, NO MORE UNEXPLAINED CRASH !

So if you have sim speed problem think of testing (for free) the new windows 7 (even if for now it's still a beta)

and by the way i heard that the key they gave me is valid for one year, also knowing that the final release is for october/november, does that mean i get a full semester of free windows 7 final release ?

Or you could simply close all other programs that you don't need so demigod has more cpu to use.

'faster in windows 7'... faster than what?  XP? Vista? ME?

I'm guessing Demigod would run faster on your Macbook Pro with a fresh install of XP.

I lol'ed irl!

So true! Funny how you adress the speedboost to the new OS instead of the new installation :D

I find demigod runs very nicely on xp64, and I dont get any unexplained crashes.

Occasionally the game will hang on the spash screen when starting a MP game, but I think thats got nothing to do with my OS.

If you're getting such a dramatic speed improvement going to windows 7, I suspect there was something wrong with your previous install. Maybe processes runing in background, or details settings set up way high in your 3d options. Or your frames to write ahead set to 0. Even vsync could likely have a large effect on what it reads.

Windows 7 is absolutely faster than Windows XP, and I kept clean installs of both. Sim Speed 1 vs 4 is not an increase that you can possibly attribute to a clean format, unless he had an antivirus scanning 24/7 on his hard drive.

By the way, nobody cares about SS 1 vs 4, so long as it's not negative by the end of the game, it's meaningless.

Actually, I've realised the same thing last weekend. I was on Vista 64, and all of a suddend I started experiencing sound issues with DG, after having played since end of April without issue.

I wanted to try Windows 7, and since reinstalling DG and my sound card drivers didn't solve the issue, I went ahead.

And as the OP, I am now experiencing higher simspeeds. Off course a "fresh" install may be the cause, but my Vista install, despite being several months old, was very well maintained, and I have always closed all non-essential programs before running DG.

So... it' seems like DG may be running slightly better on W7 than Vista. Now I'm just hoping Razer won't take too long to issue W7 drivers for their mice.

Or you could get an actual PC.

I used to get -3... but i figured there was something amiss. So i searched around and found that some poeple had solved thier problem by starting thier game with /no sound in the target line. Had a steady 6-3 after that. Not great but certainly better.

I also tried unclicking reverb when i played with sound and that also improved performance.

Appears to be true for me.  Win7 32 + 64 bit.  Not all that noticable with my rig, but you can tell things are a little more crisp.
