For all you tech buffs

For all you tech buffs

Ok, I want a little help from all of you tech buffs out there. I need to create a computer that is both relatively cheap (under 600 $) but can run all games (excluding maybe supcom) at a good clip and a decent setting.
i.e. I want a really nice gaming computer for cheap. I want to see what you guys recommend so that I can look into it.
on that note, what is the fastest internet connection you guys know of? so far I heard comcast is pretty good.
and if you want to have fun with this, on the off chance I can raise the money, what about a computer for 800$.

Was just reading about SATA 150 vs SATA 3GB/s, and the 3gb/s is only a marketing hype.

So the drive i posted, is the fastest SATA drive ATM

the big question right now is wether or not these pieces will fit and is anything really worth spending to upgrade?
LOL look at that size of that fan

so the subtotal is about $880 ?
120mm is nothing--there are some cases with fans more than double that diameter! The larger the better too, as larger ones can move the same amount of air as smaller ones while spinning at lower speed, and thus with far less noise.
something like this?

cant seem to find some cases with fans bigger then 120mm on newegg.com
found this one with 7 120mm fans

Two cases with big fans:

While they may move air more quietly though, I personally find those cases to be pretty tacky looking. Here's what I plan to use for my next build:

thats all really nice and all. but right now I need to know if buying those parts is a waste of money or not.
after that you guys can hijack this thread all you want.

and the subtotal is ~$1000

You've got a BTX motherboard and an ATX case picked out, and that's not going to work. BTX boards are laid out pretty much the opposite way, and won't fit in ATX cases.

BTX cases are not terribly common--newegg only has four of them. Best bet would be to just find an ATX motherboard.

Make sure you can fit the PSU, and mobo in side of your case. Also, make sure that your motherboard supports your cpu.

...
you think that they would try to be a bit more cross-compatable.
so theres no way that the motherboard will install inside that case?

and how can I find out if the motherboard and the CPU are compatible?

currently I think I'm going to get this case:

The ones you have picked are not, as the mobo has no Core 2 Duo support. The only other BTX mobo on newegg does support Core, though. Personally I'd just advise again going with ATX. BTX is very poorly supported and is just going to be a pain if you later want to upgrade or replace parts that happen to fail.

Here's a comparably priced intel ATX board. It should fit fine in any non-micro ATX case you happen to pick.

What im saying make sure your case is big enough for the motherboard, and PSU. Just check the dimensions.

not to nag, but the review says that it has very limited upgrade potential.

Hmph, maybe but it performs and is cheap. I'll keep an eye out for other interesting things for you.

Schem, I dont recommend buying all your parts at once, newegg often has sales or other special offers to reduce the price.
