It seems to me the coercion system will penalize the player for adopting the correct strategy. That is to focus their production and specialize their planets. It's going to be a double whammy as well since it affects the bonus received from happiness. I think this system will cause a lot of frustration for players, they won't know how to manage their economy. With the removal of the wheel that's the case already, I've had people message me asking me t
As for the Ayn Rand comment...there is no need to inject politics into this discussion.
I don't see how anyone who has the faintest knowledge of e.g. Ayn Rand, American Libertarianism, Laissez-Faire or Neoliberalism philosophies or economic systems along those lines can not fail to see the first post is dripping in politics it's so saturated. Did I just read a post on game mechanics or a love letter to Ayn Rand? ;)
But of course nothing happened. I was ignored. And I can't see any big changes like these occurring now.
Yeah I get that feeling with Stardock a lot as well :) The wikipedia article on nebulas states they can be 100's of light years in diameter, who's to say they couldn't be 1000's out there in the universe somewhere, so making them larger would satisfy realism. There's plenty of Sci
I'd make nebulas larger and nearly impassable without tech. It would make the map a lot less open, military starbases might actually become useful GC3 could really benefit from some sort of genuine "terrain" features. I realize in reality space might be vast and empty but since when is most of the taken for granted features of Space 4X games limited by reality...
Loaded up the game, two things immediately put me off from trying the opt in, though a lot of your under the hood changes sound pretty good. 1. The Focuses can only be changed by entering each and every individual planet screen. You need to add focus switches on the colonies list on the main screen and on the colonies screen on the govern civilization screen and global (all planets) focus switches somewhere as well. You could save players from a l

Hi Naselus, glad you made up with eviator :)
I don't think that diplo model is fundamentally broken. Sure, it's not very innovative, and it's presently very imbalanced and quite possibly bugged or incomplete
The thing is can it ever be well balanced? Resources, Techs and ships all have different values depending on different circumstances within the game. (e.g. purchasing
Macsen, the new system is now much like GC2 in that there are global settings and planet focuses. So are you saying even that system is too much micro? I agree they should work on a way to mess with focuses on a planet list, like the colonies tab, like they did in GC2.
Hmmm, because I'm so unused to using the global wheel I think I forgot you could use that as the 100% focus like in GC2. I was writing under the
I guess I'll say my thoughts on the 1.4 changes in Fridays Stream... I'm glad the planetary management wheel has gone it will reduce micromanagement (fiddling with a wheel takes much more time than clicking a focus switch) but Stardock could do a heck of a lot more to reduce unnecessary micromanagement and time saving if this is the economy system they decide to use. If Stardock are going to use a focus system we should be able to switch focus without havi
3. Host the best YouTube 'how to play' and 'tips' videos on the Stardock website.
My experience/belief is Stardock have little to no interest in YouTubers other than with reviewers like Total Biscuit and Angry Joe to sell their games initially. That being said they do have a "Pinned Post" for "User Created Videos" (they are not Nintendo luckily) in the GCIII General Forum. Took me a while to find the thread myself actually.
Nope not a parody post.
So have you even played the game? Perhaps you should wait until you have, before making claims about a game that your beta experience on a different title gives you no credibility to make. These forums have enough fanboyism imo. Enough smoke has been blown up Stardock *** as it is. Praise where praise is due is fine but Stardock needs to act more on the constructi
Protecting the integrity of the score isn't dumb or ridiculous.
If you want an accurate meaningful score you want as many unbiased reviews as possible, from a broad range of consumers who have purchased that game. Companies encouraging the most biased people to review games, people who have perhaps been fans of a game or series for years, people who have preordered and invested in a game and its future are

That's how i look at it, too. People spend $20 for an IMAX movie which is over in 2 hours, then absolutely freak out over $5 DLC. If you bought the game at $50 like most people and got 5+ hours of enjoyment out of it, you're doing great (at IMAX movie rates, at least
Oh, and the complaint about asking for reviews is patently ridiculous. Pretty much everything that has a rating system attached to it asks you to rate it. SD never asked its community to review it dishonestly, they just pretty much said "Hey, there's this rating system, so if you like the game, please go rate it." There is nothing even remotely wrong with that. If a company is involved in a rating system and isn't encouraging thei
I get cynicism, but I do not think on this matter that such a presumption has standing.
I'll put it more bluntly if you want, they are asking people to review their game specifically on Steam in the hope of positive reviews and potential financial gain from a higher user rating. These forums are perfectly fine for generating feedback, their not asking people to review their game on Steam for feedback. &nb
