I admit it would be neat if they kept a database of common lookups for IP addresses and showed you the friendly name when known. It would certainly be a nice feature. Looking at resmon output of domain names is almost as non-sensical as the raw IP address. It would probably have to be a local database in relation to DNS lookups, though. You'd get too many technically correct but unexpected domain matches if it was a global database against a shared hosting IP.
Thanks, the purpose you mentioned could be reasonable (and most likely is), but even then it would be better if it pointed to a Stardock domain (ideally a subdomain with a "speaking name") and not some generic reverse DNS of some hoster/ISP. Maybe that could be changed in a future patch?
Sorry for butting in, but I find networking questions interesting sometimes. I just wanted to point out that thi

Your idea with PerfMon should be fine too if you sample every minute or so for 8-10h of graphing s

I mean, I think I share the same issue on my 2nd PC... but I never use that Windows feature to begin with so I never notice when it's not there. It had a clean install of Windows recently and the first version of Start11 it ever had was 2.49.2... seems to have the issue present in 2.51.2.

49 Replies 64,226 Views

Unless I'm crazy, I think the problem that I described for 2.49.1 was fixed with 2.51.1. ( https://forums.stardock.com/532897/get;3954201 ) When the Start button would normally disappear for me, all of the pinned icons move down by 1-2px instead. Hardly a problem, so I'm happy. I had a different issue with 2.49.4 that was fixed in 2.49.5( https://

Fixed in 2.49.5 So... I've run into a tricky regression going from 2.49.3->2.49.4. I say it's tricky because it involves other 3rd party software. Normally, I wouldn't bother bringing 3rd party software problems to another 3rd party... except that only 2.49.4 has this problem and downgrading immediately fixes it. I don't want to stay on 2.49.3

I don't see a start button on the taskbar, but clicking the app showing where the start button should be, opens the start menu. So, the main strange thing that I have encountered is that some pinned icons can get bugged and when a window for that icon is open, the Start button disappears and everything is shifted up. Then the first icon acts as though it is the Start button unless you click exactly on the icon... then you might get what the icon shows instead of the Sta

I'm very happy to see this vertical taskbar feature arrive. I have been keeping two machines on Windows 10 because I didn't want to give it up. I have a couple comments according to my taste regarding the tray icon area. I'm glad that you can resize this orientation of the taskbar, but

Creating PinMenu items on the taskbar seems ineffective now. I have auto-hide enabled(bottom), and when trying to create the icon, the taskbar briefly appears... but there's no new icon. I tried browsing a folder on my desktop, I tried using one of those pre-selected filtered folders. I tried turning off auto-hide, restarting explorer and rebooting. I haven't seen what the developer's response is, but I think ExplorerPatcher may be on the way out. Experimental builds of Windows 11 have a toggle to completely disable the Windows 10 taskbar code so that ExplorerPatcher either loads the Windows 11 taskbar anyways or Explorer crashes. I expect that this is in preparation to physically remove the files/code that make up the Windows 10 taskbar. My understanding is that ExplorerPatcher only downloads Microsoft provided symbol
