Hi, I know it is not exactly what you are searching for, but using MS Power tools / Fancy Zone to lay out multiple grouped window side-by-side is also very powerful. I disabled the Fancy Zone hold shortcut so my windows are automatically expanded into the underlying group when moved over. So when you open a window for the first time, it is floating, but then after moving it, it goes into a group. Typically, I never use a floating window after that.
