Awesome. This could really help in identifying the cause of this "unable to move icons on the first row" issue. Sincere thanks for your time and effort. pelaird

So, as for the "unable to move icons on the first row" issue, something is not the same on the Surface pro 6 as your primary computer. Any ideas what could be different? Are they both Touch enabled?

I have a quick question. Was the issue with being unable to move icons in the top group or row resolved with this "reset" on this computer? Is this a different computer than the one with "top row" issue?

djMot, I have spent an hour this morning trying to create your issue on my system by changing settings around an trying different configurations. I was unable to reproduce your issue. If you are willing, export the following registry settings for Start11 and PM me a copy or post the text here. That way I can get the settings on my system the same as you are using, and I will run more tests. Please include the Windows 11 version and Start11 version running on your system. Compu
I had groups previously but converted them to tabs because that allows me to put more icons on a single page. Otherwise, the behavior djMot is experiencing is identical to what I'm seeing. I have Microsoft's PowerToys installed and most of the components are active. I tried disabling all of them, but that had no effect on the issue. Nothing else that's running seems like it would be a conflict.
Bill, there should not b

I don't see a Stardock badge on your profile, so I'm not sure why you would ask me to perform a nuclear option and conclude, if it fails to correct the anomaly, that it is "something unique to [my] system". I miss the toolbars on the Windows 10 taskbar, but I prefer the Start11 Windows 10 style start menu to the default Windows 10 start menu. And I have grown to like Windows 11 for the most part. Not really a big fan of Mica, but I can live with it. On the Windows 10 taskbar, I used a toolbar to place a custom Recycle Bin on the taskbar that would change state when empty or full, and allow right click to empty. I'm using a Start11 Folder menu on the Windows 11 taskbar for the Rec
To make the scenario like mine, you would need to add a couple more groups. My top-most group is one row tall. In fact, my top two groups are only one row tall. Further, my top group/row is full. The next group/row down has room for one more icon, and the third group down is multi-row with two full rows and no partial rows of icons, but room to expand to a third row because there aren't any icons below the second row.&nb

Microsoft is finally killing the Windows 10 taskbar code in Windows 11 from: Winaero 11/30/2023 "With the newly released Windows 11 Canary Build 26002, Microsoft is testing the ability to completely kill the now-legacy taskbar inherited from Windows 10. The code is still present in the OS and can be used by third-party apps to restore the classic look. Microsoft must be not happy with the situation and wants to change it." Starting with the fact that everything from the Internet must not be taken as the truth, I have found that using Copilot to find info from the Internet faster than a Google or Bing search. Copilot can create summaries of movies, books, Journal articles, etc. As far as using it to control my computer, I agree that it's not that helpful.

Do you by any chance use DeskScapes 11? If so, you can place an "Info Panel" on your desktop which includes time and date, with options to control the font, font size, font color, and position on the desktop.

I'm sorry, I misread your issue. I thought you wanted the taskbar to change color based on the wallpaper selection. I didn't read close enough. So, the only way to change the text color on the taskbar is to change the "default Windows mode" to Dark for white text or Light for black text.

I don't believe there is a way to do what you are asking for with Start11. You can, however set your taskbar to look equally good on light or dark backgrounds. Set the taskbar color to black and then adjust the RGB to somewhere between 35 and 60. Set the transparency to 65%. And then turn on the taskbar blur if you like. Play around with these settings until you find something you like. You can also manually change the color to white in the Configs. You will need to ch

So what are really the new features?
Sounds correct to me. When taskbar buttons are not combined the icon used is the icon provided by the window itself. This will ignore your custom settings. Only the combined taskbar buttons use the icon from the app executable / shortcut as there could be multiple windows for a single button so if you used the icon from the window it could be one of many choices.
Okay, I understand the logic.
